"I recently purchased an Aviator CX7Duo and I absolutely love it!

It was shipped with the wrong graphics card, but Hypersonic quickly sent the correct one and then the machine was perfect.

The wide screen is wonderful for web design and graphics. The color and brightness are unbelievable. Powerful, fast, stable...everything I could ask for. Love the full size keyboard and the excellent sound quality.

The only drawback is it's so heavy I can't carry it around, but I use my old Aviator CX5 as a portable which works just fine.

Hypersonic's customer service is unbeatable - they are a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend them.

"After a rather pleasant pre-purchase experience and 12 days of waiting, I finally received my Hypersonic Aviator AX-20 and spent the morning setting it up. This thing is top of the line, with the 20” screen, Turion X2 dual core procesor, and best of all, dual video cards (512mb GF 7950s in sli). Loaded with Windows XP Professional on a 100gb/7200rp hard drive and 2GB of RAM, this is by far the most powerful laptop computer I’ve ever had the pleasure to use.

To say that the AX-20 is a bit larger than any other laptop I’ve used (or seen) is an understatement . but it is packaged in a sleek and relatively thin case which makes it easier to deal with. Of course the real reason to buy a monster like this is the top-of-the-line performance and so far I have not been disappointed. Hypersonic is somewhat skimpy on the software bundle but the upside is that you get a nice clean hard drive without any preloaded crap that I’d usually have to uninstall. The custom recovery DVD is also a nice touch.

"This is the second Hypersonic I have owned in 2 years now, and despite what some of my friends say, thinking Hypersonic is too expensive, I've had exceptional luck with mine, and great tech support/customer service. Previously I purchased a Sonic Boom gaming desktop, which is still churning through games like a hot knife through butter. But given that it was too big to carry around, I opted for a notebook this time. The Aviator CX7 is virtually as fast as my full blown desktop, yet its remarkably lightweight with a super bright 17inch screen. I do see a number of complaints about shipping delays, but mine arrived on the day it was promised, if not a day earlier. "

"Well, I placed my order more than 7 weeks ago and have yet to receive my machine (aviator CX7) - have sent numerous emails and only get replies about 1/3 of the time. I have heard great things about the machines, but at this point I really regret ordering from them - the customer service is a joke. They don't tell you when there are delays, and don't respond to requests for information about something that I have already been charged for. I am tempted to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge because I have never received the item that I have paid for. I would love to review the actual machine but they would actually have to send it to me first.
UPDATE: Well, if possible the first thing I would do is change my rating from "very dissatisfied" to "Utterly and completely dissatisfied to a level I never thought possible" because it is now 8 weeks to the day since I ordered my computer, and I cannot get a straight answer from these people. I gave up on calling a while back, because I never got a person, just voicemail, which was never returned. The last email I received said that the computer would ship today and that I would receive a tracking number today. But what did I get - you guessed it - NOTHING. Based on the email I got 2 days ago saying it would ship, it seemed unlikely anyway - first they said it was still being painted and then that it would ship 2 days later - that is impossible based on the testing they supposedly do. At this point I am so angry that I can't even articulate it. The status update section has actually moved backwards a step. At this point there I cannot imagine what the company could do to make me a satisfied customer. I picked the computer because it was the size, style and configuration I wanted - there were more expensive computers that I considered but they didn't have all the features I was looking for - now I wish that I had gone with them - the cost of the machine has never been an issue to me - it is the quality of the product and the customer service. And the way that they treat their customers they should be paying us to take their merchandise. I don't see how they stay in business treating people like this. Seriously, I am so angry I can't even explain it. And I really hope that Hypersonic sees this and post a response like they used to (haven't lately I've noticed) because then I would know that they actually pay attention to their customer complaints and problems - right now I feel like they are all just sitting there laughing at what a sucker I am for buying a machine from them.
UPDATE 4/11/07 - It will be 10 weeks since I ordered on Friday, still no machine. They have given me $265 in credits, which brings my cost to $3438.00. Order the identical machine today and it would be $3350.00 so color me unimpressed. Since I was charged at purchase instead of after shipment, which I have been told should not have happened based on the credit card requirements, they are still getting to screw me over but good - plus they now include Office 2007 basic on these machines. Hate them - hate them very much. Plan to contact them about this today.
4/12 update - they have refused to do anything else (won't even price match their own current price) and claim that the machine will ship on Friday 4/13, meaning it will be at least Monday before I get it, if I believed it would actually be shipping that day (I believe it about as much as I believe that flying monkeys will be hand delivering it). Tried to get the name of a supervisor from my sales rep and he REFUSED to give it to me, so I will be getting it another way. It seems like this rep knows they screwed up and is trying to hide it or prevent the higher ups from knowing about it. I work for an office machine company and if a rep treated any customer like I have been treated they would be out of a job.
4/24 Update - Well, after being told I would have the computer today,I didn't get it but it finally shipped today. Got a tracking number and everything.Of course I probably will never see it since they shipped it to the WRONG ADDRESS. Seriously, there are only 2 explinations. Either they are completely incompetent, or the are consciously making it impossible to get my computer.
FINAL UPDATE 4/25/07 - Got the computer today, doesn't work, so it is going back - recovery cd's didn't work, computer only starts in safe mode, can't even get the control panel to open.

"I purchased a $4000 Aviator EX7 from Hypersonic. Here is an accurate summary of my experience with Hypersonic-PC

1. There was about a 2 week delay beyond the stated release date.

2. I had a few dead pixels and returned item , Hypersonic gladly replaced the screen (Kudos Hyeprsonic)

3. My laptop battery died within a few months. the laptop would work if plugged in, but the battery would NOT hold a charge 0%. After several emails, Hypersonic finally replaced the battery, however, it was not the same color (black) as the laptop I purchased (blue). Not a huge deal, since it was on the bottom (hypersonic gets a pass on this one)

4. Now, this replacement battery also dies about 9 months later... same issue, CPU works if plugged in, but the battery has a 0% charge. And I was vigilant on optomizing and tuning my battery after the first experience. the issue is extremely frustrating as if LAPTOP comes unplugged, it immediately shuts off, losing whatever work you had going on there.

now here's what it takes a turn for the worse...

5. ive written to Hypersonic AT LEAST 4-5 emails about the batter issue, over the last 30 days. I received ONE reply stating the battery warranty was something like 1 year.... and that I had to purchase another battery... (*** Why should I pay $200 for the SAME battery that will die like the previous 2?).... anyway, I replied back saying something like "well this is the 2nd battery to go bd in 18 months, so i think there is a clear battery issue you know about, and should honor a replacement for the second defective battery". That was about 10 days ago, and I STILL have not received a reply... so I still have a battery issue with my $4000 laptop from Hypersonic-PC.....

then, a 2nd issue sprung up... I upgraded this same laptop to Microsoft Vista Ultimate, and all of a sudden, my PCMCIA device stopped working. the device is the texas Instruments PCI-1411. None of my PCMCIA devices worked in this laptop after upgrading... I expected issues wtih upgrading to the new OS, so Ive tried trouble shooting this issue for 2 weeks now with Microsoft, and nothing has worked. ive contacted texas Instruments who avised they dont provide driver support. So logically, I contacted Hypersonic about THIS issue... assuming they ship laptops with Microsot Vista AND with the PCI-1411, they have a good driver that works. I contacted them about the driver issue about a week ago and have heard NOTHING. I wrote them again today and will wait to see what happens. I stumbled across this website and felt compelled to tell my Hypersonic story. They seem like a good company, but can't figure out how to provide adequate support to lucrative customers who buy high end laptops, and the customers who merely buy their t-shirts or whatever.

I'm an FBI Agent who investigates cyber crimes and I rely on high end laptops to help with malware analysis that I do, among other things. Im a pretty technical person, so Im not some fluke customer who just has an axe to grind. I couldnt be more honest and accurate in my comments here...

Hopefully managemnt over there checks in with this site to get honest evaluatins about how their company is doing.

if Hypersonic resolves the issue and finally provides support, I will update this thread with a very positive outcome. stay tuned

Today is February 20th, and I sent 2-3 more help requests. I have NOT received any response. this is how they treat custoemrs who buy thier $4000 computers.

Today is March 1st, I submitted the same help request a few days ago, and was still ignored. I truly regret spending $4000 on a computer from this company.

"Hypersonic's customer service is a joke. My order of a notebook computer was missing the Disaster Recovery DVD ($39). I informed Hypersonic and they told me they would get one sent out immediately. My computer arrived in December, here it is now February and I am still waiting for the missing item. I have contacted Hypersonic more than 3 times, and every time, they apologize for the delay and say that it will be sent "soon." Well, that joke isn't funny anymore. Next time I'll go with a vendor that takes customer service more seriously."

"The entire wait process of ordering this computer was long, and tedious. It said 7-14 business days, and when I called about order statuses, week after week I was delayed. They never informed me of delays unless I called, and for a laptop that was supposed to arrive before Xmas as a present, it arrived 3 days after Xmas (I had to frantically call in myself for the tracking number).

When HP delayed my computer, they gave me free overnight shipping and a 100 dollar refund (for their 2 week delay). Hypersonic was supposed to ship my unit 12/8, and shipped it 12/27; and for that, they offered me a laptop bag which they didnt even bother to ship in the end. I can't find words for the entire ordering process or about being put on hold for 40 minutes with customer service "checking my status", or the complete apathetic attitude from their customer service.

As for the laptop itself, everything seems to work at this time except for the occasional sudden turning off by itself. However, I'm going to try to live with that for now.

All in all, I think their product is solid, if you are prepared to have a huge amount of patience to wait a very very long time. If you, like me, are accustomed to efficiency and punctuality, if you expect that the company cares about the customer's feelings or needs, then you might be disappointed. This is the first time that I ordered a computer/laptop from a smaller company that wasnt Dell or Sony or HP thinking I'd give them a chance. I figured smaller companies would care more about their customers. Big mistake.

The computer's a few days old. I will update further if other complications occur.

"My father ordered the ex7 (an almost $4000 laptop) to arrive on my Birthday on the 16th; it arrived over a month later due to monitor problems in which they had to replace. When the laptop did finally arrive, I opened it and turned it on. There were 4 dead pixels; 3 around the corners and 1 in the middle. I was very dissapointed. The first day I used it, the computer overheated and turned off. I was VERY dissapointed. The next few days I noticed that one of the covers covering the springs for the monitor was loose. I pulled it out and found that there were no screws keeping it in place. The other side was firmly screwed in. Over the next month or more I had continued to get errors and overheating problems which I finally called about. They sent me a new video card (which was a geforce even though I currently had an ATI). I switched to the geforce and found out that it was misaligned with the fan; I still had overheating problems. I decided to live with it. I got a blue screen almost every other day. At the time I played Warcraft III and Guildwars which worked without any problems on my six year old Dell. However, on this laptop they would both extremely lag while making noises like "BRRRRRRBRRRRR" from the speakers. I finally called when my computer would not even load. I decided to use the boot disc to just reinstall everything. The boot disc did not work. By the way; every time I called during main bussiness hours it would transfer me to the afterhours tech support which is a useless organization that I am starting to think is in a little shack in India. Their leading technition spoke to me and explained to me that I need to call the main tech support group and I explained that I had been trying. He said what I needed to do is call them and get a replacement boot disc and that they would ship me and fund me an external floppy disc drive so that I would be able to reinstall my RAID 0 drivers. I then called and after about 2 hours worth of transfers and either hang ups or disconnects (all on hypersonic's fault) I spoke to a representitive who treated me like a moron. He explained to me that I needed to go out and buy a floppy disc drive because it was not in their policy to support me with one. I explained that the man in their after hours tech support said otherwise and this guy said he was mistaken and would straighten things out with him. Yea Right. Well, my boot disc came after a few days and I reinstalled the computer. I continued to get blue screens. I called hypersonic and explained to them that I could not even last five minutes without the blue screen. They took my computer in and "repaired" it. I told them to fix the broken monitor cover, the microphone which did not work, the overheating problem, the error problem, and to see if they could do anything about the dead pixels. When my computer finally came back the only thing that was fixed was the broken cover. They said they had replaced the motherboard; it had not helped a thing. I was still getting blue screens every half an hour and extreme lag. Some time passed and I decided to run a memory test on the system in which I received multiple errors. I called (again it took a few days, the first day I called the ringtone continued and there were no messages; after five minutes I hung up and tried again; same problem. I called the next day and got multiple transfers which took over 45 minutes.) and they sent a replacement. The memory did not help either. I was still getting problems. I decided to send my computer in again more than a month ago. They assured me that they would fix this and get it out to me within a week. After calling after the week, they assured me that it would be sent the next day. I called every other day, at least 20 times and each time the representative told me it would be sent the next day. I called again and spoke to one of the same representatives that I had spoken to at least 5 times; he remembered me and was very empathetic with me. I did not need empathy, I needed the computer. He told me that they were running "major tests" on the system. They told me they had been running tests for a month now. After asking him to replace the system he said that they would not be able to do so. He did tell me they would upgrade the video card. LOL that was the reason I sent it in in the first place. Sadly my father became very upset and decided to call them last monday. He gave them an ultimatem (which they clearly needed considering that they could keep the computer for an unlimited amount of time and have no problems). The representatives guaranteed that it would be shipped by last Friday or they would replace the system upgrading the parts. Friday came and I decided to call. I let the phone idle for about 20 minutes and all I got was a continued ringtone after trying sales, tech support, and customer service. The operator option had not been working for the last 5 times I called. Well I gave up."

"What an awesome experience. From the well thought out ordering system of their website, to their friendly and informative salespeople, on to their knowledgable and helpful tech staff, I had a great experience. The laptop arrived on (or ahead) of schedule, exactly as ordered and exactly as described with a few pleasant surprises... The manual that shipped with the unit was written as if by a technician documenting the setup process. Best PC manual I've ever seen. The driver CD was chock full of the approved drivers that they tested; as fresh as their website downloads, all with an attractive user friendly install program and a manual that reflects the entire process.

I am very pleased with every aspect of the sale. Highly recommended!

"This was my first time ordering from Hypersonic, and I would definitely do so again. Hypersonic's website made it very easy to configure my machine, and the price was substantially less than I found at other "boutique" online stores such as Widow or Voodoo. So far, I have been very pleased with the quality of my new Aviator CX7 notebook. The screen is gorgeous, the keyboard has a nice solid feel to it, and the thing is unbelievably FAST!

I was also quite impressed with Hypersonic's customer service. Due to one of the parts being backordered, it took a couple of extra weeks to ship out my machine. I expressed my disappointment to Hypersonic, and they threw in a free carrying case worth $69. Now that's how you earn repeat business!

"I purchased an Aviator CX7 Turbo gaming notebook and it has been a disaster. I regret buying it so much. I had been looking through different computer companies for a good price. Hypersonic seemed to be in a medium range (some companies were cheaper) for what they offered. Thinking that i would be paying a little more for service i went ahead and bought the computer.
I recieved it promptly and when i tried to turn it on the fans and a couple lights would turn on but the screen would stay blank; other times the screen would freeze on bootup.
I also had a tv tuner put in the computer but i did not recieve the proper connectors to connect the cable. (I recieved the connector five months later after sending in pictures of the connectors they first sent me twice!)
When i sent in the computer to get the power problem fixed i recieved it back promptly but they didnt send me the POWER CORD! So i cant even use it period!
I have called already and have been promised to be called back without any offers to solutions, this is the second day without any calls from them. Great service huh?
If they have so much work that they cant handle customers problems or they are so unorganized that they forget a power cord to a laptop then they need to rethink their position in this growing technology industry.

"*Rather long but I gave the whole experience*
Before purchasing my laptop I had spent months pouring over the different manufacturers before I settled on Hypersonic. I considered many others but Hypersonic had the best prices and even the bad reviews online showed that they try really hard to fix any problem (Plus they use Clevo laptops, AKA Alienware, voodoo, Sager etc…. so it basically comes down to not if there are problems but if they fix them)

Hypersonic consistently had lower prices and after pricing out the laptop (AviatorCX7 Duo, 2ghz Duo, 2gigsMushkin RAM, 7900GTX 256mb, 100gig7200RPM HD, 1920x1200 LCD) I made the purchase. According to their estimate of (8-14) days to build and I figured around 5 to ship I should receive it at somewhere around 3 weeks. But:

A little under a week after I placed the order (Placed on Monday, now is Sunday) I got on and was playing with the configurator when I saw that the graphics card had changed from the 7900 GTX 256 mb to the 7900 GTX 512 mb. I was rather bummed out that I had ordered early and missed it. The price difference between the orders (with only the graphics card changed) was about $140. I emailed them and told them this and asked if I could swap them before construction. They told me that its fine to change it and would only cost me $66! I was thrilled and told them to go ahead and do it.

Doing so did delay the shipment but it still arrived in about a month (the graphics card was back ordered, and they kind of warned me about this). The laptop works insanely well, its truly unbelievable. Oblivion, ultra-high, 1920x1200, perfect… One word of caution is that it does get rather toasty, and if you are playing games on a desk after an hour the bottom is sooo hot you cant touch it (really!). Even propping the back up a little will provide enough airflow that its almost cool to the touch, the cooling system is actually quite good but it needs some airflow on the bottom. I went and bought a laptop cooler (a portable folding one, check best buy) and it has no heating problems at all now (I actually overclocked it about 50 mhz to) On your lap its actually not bad because theres enough airflow between your legs, so I barely noticed it.

Summary:
Pros: Great support, great company, quick emails, very helpful, awesome product, well built, price is great (try pricing a similar desktop that includes all the stuff in this thing and you will see what I mean or any other companies laptops), Light (ish), some overclocking potential (remember it’s a laptop), actually quite good cooling provided you use a laptop cooler or prop the back up (using powerbrick etc), for a 17” gets 1 ½+ hours of battery life

Cons: Gets hot (really), might be too large for some people (but at 17” its as portable as they get), overall low battery life (duh), Hypersonic has a history of not being the fastest shippers (I look at it that they take their time and build a good product, but that’s just me)

*One other neat note is one time I was playing UT2004 (everything absolutely maxed) and after awhile of playing (an hour?) I noticed it was starting to get laggy. I minimized and to my surprise I had been playing with the power cable unplugged!! (in power saving mode the processor lowers to 800mhz and the vid card drops its clock by a lot!) That made me feel that much better about it
