"I’ve spent thousands of dollars over 20 years doing Internet commerce. I’ve experienced mix-ups and delays, but, certainly, found each and every problem rightfully resolved to my satisfaction…Until I dealt with HypeAudio!

In over twenty years of Internet commerce this is worst company I have ever dealt with....No company has come close in rudeness and ineptness.

I ordered A DVD player on Sat night, 9/11/04. Got a prompt acknowledgement of my order. The next morning (Sunday) I received a demand via email for a faxed copy of a utility bill with my physical address on it, or a fax of my state ID or driver's license. My response was to cancel the order. I sent a cancellation response twice. I included a request for acknowledgement in my second cancellation. On Monday, 9/13 I received an email stating that I should forget the previous demand for ID and that the order would be shipped. I replied that I didn't want to do business with HypeAudio and repeated that the order be cancelled. I called Customer Service and the Hype representative replied that it didn’t matter if I wanted to cancel the order because they were going to ship it anyway and charge me a restocking fee plus a two-way shipping. I called my credit card company and notified them not to transfer one penny to the crooked jerks. About twelve hours later, I received notice of shipping of the DVD player. This morning I received a tracking number from Hype. I intend to refuse to accept the package. I have received repeated emails that inform me that I should read the fine print before I refuse receipt even though I cancelled the order several times on Sunday via email, and via email and telephone on Monday. As I previously stated, the warehouse transaction was not implemented until twelve hours after my last attempt to cancel.

If you go to the Yahoo reviews on this company, you can see that they are salting the reviews to keep their positive evaluation high. Every time you read a legitimate horrible review, it's followed by several highly positive reviews (one or two liners) that negate the truth.

Trust me, I have never written a negative review before. These people should be investigated. Pay a few more bucks when you do your buys and stick with known entities. No seller is perfect, but you will probably regret dealing with HypeAudio. Several URLs review resellers…Read between the lines when you read the Hype reviews. How can any company be so terrible to the “true” reviewers and perfect for a multitude of the of the others? The reviews are at the two extremes…Poor or Perfect. Very few reviews lie in the middle.

"The first warning was right in the name - "HYP". I ordered a camera - was given conformation of same. My credit card was charged for full amount of the order. 15 days and being told on the phone "Your order has been sent to the warehouse" - "Richard" (the person who left message on my phone "is not in the office today" or "He won't be back for 2 weeks" Then after requesting to talk to someone about my order (the first person that I talked to could not locate the order by the number that was stated in the original confirmation) I was put on hold twice waiting for the next someone to take my call. It was this 3rd person telling me that the camera that I had ordered, been told that my order had been sent to the warehouse, credit card had been charged, - was not in stock - in fact had been discontinued and that my order was on hold and further that at the time I was given confirmation of the order the camera was not in stock. My opinion - these people are clueless when it comes to the subject of customer service.
I have been in retail sales for 40+ years and never served my customers this poorly!

"Tried to purchase a new Yamaha RX-V750 from this company from shopping.yahoo.com (as they had the best price). Recieved a invoice after 1 day saying the order would take 2-3 days for processing. Their website had the item as "sellout risk high". 8 days later, nothing was yet posting to say it was shipping. Called the retailer. Was told that Yamaha was the cause and they were slow in shipments. I told them I wanted to cancel my order. I was then told I had to wait 24 hours as they had to send a cancel order to the distributor and to call back on Friday June 18th at the same time. Called back only to find out their office hours are not open at the "same time" on Friday. They are closed on Saturday. Spent 30 minutes on hold and 2 different "customer service reps" later was told my order was cancelled. Will never deal with this company again.
(a) Incorrect order status message sent

(c) Website inaccurate and not tied obviously to inventory.

"Ordered a $4000 item based on competitive price and Yahoo Shopping's 4.5 star merchant rating. The item was listed as "will ship in 2-3 days". Also purchased 3-day delivery. Credit card was charged after 2 days.

After 3 days I inquired about the status using e-mail. The response was it will take another 2-3 days. After now 6 days I called and the customer service representative told me that "it is just a matter of shipping now. I talked to my manager and the TV is in the warehouse ready for shipping. Should have a tracking number in 24-48 hours." Called again after now 10 days since ordering. Customer repr. told me "TV will ship tomorrow (Monday) and should be delivered on Thursday. The tracking number will be e-mailed EOB Monday." Called again on Monday (day 11) "item has shipped but with a private carrier, and that carrier has no tracking number. It will take 7 to 10 days for delivery. And I can't give you the carrier's phone number." After I convinced the repr. to give me the shipper's name, I called the shipping company. They had no record of any shipment to my address or any shipment to my area for that matter. I called HypeAudio back and the same customer repr. I spoke with earlier, now said: "It might have been another shipping company. No manager is on the floor right now. It will take 3 to 4 days for a company manager to respond to your complaint. The order cannot be cancelled because it already has been shipped." After some more "discussion", he responded: "Your order will be reversed. I don't need this kind of headache."

Just to make sure, I also disputed the credit card charge. During the whole 11 days, there was not a single e-mail with a status update. Everytime I called customer service, I was on hold for at least 10 minutes, up to 30 minutes. What's most annoying is that several times I was on hold for 5 minutes, then one representative took the call, asked for the order number and put me on hold again - in the same queue as before! Then another rep. takes the call and the whole spiel starts over. In one case this repeated three times.

I have been doing business on the Internet for well over 5 years now. But this company loses hands-down for the worst experience ever. I'm not even sure what is going on behind the scenes. They definitely never had the item, but charged my credit card anyway. Then they lied to me on several occasions. I also noticed they are listing their "products" using other domain names, e.g. Dealznet.com, using the same fax number.

You decide if you want to do business with this company. I for one would like to see it go out of business real fast. Unfortunately, based on this experience it seems that the Yahoo Shopping ratings are inflated at best, if not meaningless.

"Company advertisement states that all item are BRAND NEW FACTORY SEALED. The item they shipped had been opened at least 2 times (2 sets of staple holes) DVI cable which comes with unit was missing. They advised me to buy one locally. They will not refund any shipping charges. Filed a complaint with New York BBB who advises that there has been 20 complaints lodged in the last 2 yrs. My last request to them was dtd 9 Mar. 04 and there has not been a reply."

"DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!!! It looks like they have created a new name and internet address in a effort to run from all of the bad reviews they've recieved on their other sites. RUN!!! RUN!!! RUN!!! RUN THE OTHER WAY!!! THEY ARE DOING BUSINESS ON THE INTERNET UNDER SEVERAL DIFFERENT NAMES. AS A MATTER OF FACT THEY ARE LISTED HERE IN RESELLER RATINGS AS "HYPAUDIO.COM" ALSO. COMPARE THE 1-800 NUMBER OF THIS COMPANY WITH THAT OF HYPAUDIO.COM, PRICESRITE.COM, DEALZNET.COM,AND LGDSUPERSTORE.COM. I've posted reviews on all of those in resellerratings and you can get a pretty good idea of the company you'd be dealing with by reading what some of their customers have said about them. "
