"They took my money & sent the wrong color collar. Poor construction. The custom embroidery was messy, sloppy, and uneven. The buckle covered my dogs name even when I sent in specific measurements as THEY instructed. Tried to contact them multiple times. They won't respond to my emails. They won't answer their phone. THEY ARE CROOKS and VERY DISHONEST. BUYER BEWARE!"

"I just bought two engraved id tags for my dogs The shipping time was great only took 4 days. But when I opened up the envelope to see my tags they were wrong.I had picked two different colors for the tags for each dog one was gun metal for my male dog the other was brass for my female dog which they phoned me to let me know that they were out of that color.So I told them to give me the steel one. So the had engraved my female dogs name on the gun metal one and my male dogs name on the steel one. I however didn't mind that much. They are heavy duty and were priced right. The gun metal one is now after only 2 weeks of my dog wearing it,its rubbing off. So much for good quality. Then 1 week after my purchase I received another envelope from hotdog collars with some one else's tag in it. I then called them up And after waiting 10 minutes on the phone told them of there error. I figured they would send this person a new tag right away but no the sent me a envelope to send the persons tag to them. That's when I looked them up on reseller ratings. This business is very unprofessional. I will never buy another thing from them and would advise no one else to support there incompetence. "

"Hot Dog Collars' Customer Service doesn't answer their phone. Received two medium dog sports jerseys from them yesterday. The Rangers jersey, while new, has a wrinkle at the back of the collar. The Cowboys jersey is obviously used, without an NFL tag and has two small spots on the front. It smells of cigarette smoke and Febreze. They're selling used and 2nds as new. Don't do business with these people.

"I have been pleased with every item I have ordered from Hot Dog Collars, BUT make sure you order the correct size or item, BECAUSE their Customer Service is ridiculously rude and slow!!! I followed their directions to return a $10 item, it cost me $6.00 to return. I had already reordered the item I needed in the correct size, so I only needed a refund. Here it is a month later, and after numerous emails, and a very unpleasant phone call, I have been told I will finally receive my refund!!! I'll continue doing business with them, but I will make sure I don't have to make a return!"

"Worst company EVER!!!! Collars were out of stock-Said they would issue a refund on the 19th of August, it is now September 4th and NOTHING has been done! I took a photocopy of the invoice which clearly showed the note they wrote about the collar being sold out and sent it to them. I have emailed and called to no avail. This company sucks!! "

"After I placed my order with them I looked at the reviews on rr and I thought I had made a huge mistake. I ordered a collar and two tags that were personalized. So basically the ratings on this site are horrible, other sites they are very good so I figured I would review here and try to assure people that not every order they make is doomed!

So I placed my order before noon on 8-21 which is a Sunday. I tried to use Google checkout and kept getting an error so I contacted them by email to tell them. I figured it would be at least Monday to hear back so in the meantime I placed the order and paid with PayPal. So I was sort of surprised when I got a response from their customer support 3 hours later and on a Sunday.

So on the 22nd (Monday) I get the your order has shipped emails, 3 of them which I only ordered 3 small items so I thought it was odd they would ship all 3 seperatly. So I started to think they ship notice was one of the bs ones you get on Ebay a lot where it sends when a ship label is made but it doesn't really mean anything shipped. Well one of the #s showed progress on shipping the other 2 didn't. The one that did show progress just arrived (8-26)and all 3 items were in the package so I guess the extra shipment #s is just some glitch in the system.

So to sum up I had a very good experience with them, shipping the day after an order when they had to engrave two tags is quick turnaround. And even with the cheap shipping I got the item in 5 days so I cant ask for more than that!

"Horrible, I placed my order on June 23rd and received an email that is shipped on the 24th. It never arrived and none of the tracking numbers work! When I demanded functioning tracking numbers, no one responded. I still have not received my order, a refund or even any communication from them. Smells like a total SCAM!"

"HORRIBLE Customer Service! I was a long time customer and not only had I personally ordered many times from Hot Dog but I had referred countless friends and family as well.

I placed an order on 1/18/2011 for three collars, a ID tag and a harness. The first package I received 1/21/2011 (which according to their website included my entire order) was missing the harness and contained the wrong Orange collar. I would not normally have complained about it being the wrong brand but the one they sent was too large. I contacted them through their website that evening and advised of the error on the collar along with asking about the status of the harness since it was not included in the package. The response I got back was:

"We apologize for this mixup with the collar and will have a new item sent to you ASAP along with a pre paid envelope to return the incorrect item. While rare, these types of issues do occur as our shipping process is a human driven one. Your order is very important to us and we will work quickly to rectify this situation. With rergard to the harness, this item is made to order and will require 2-4 weeks to ship."

I understand that mistakes happen. I received the "replacement" collar on 01/29/2011. This time it was the correct brand (Lupine) but the wrong color. They sent Red instead of Orange. I contacted them on 01/31/2011 to advise of this error. They also failed to include the return envelope for the first collar. I never got a response from this email. I contacted them again on 02/08/2011 and got the exact same generic response as the first time. Finally on 02/16/2011 I received the correct Orange Lupine collar but still no harness. I contacted them on 02/18/2011, 02/24/2011 and 03/01/2011. On 02/24/2011 I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the FL State Attorney General. Both got in contact with Hot Dog Collars and I FINALLY got a voicemail from them on 03/02/2011. The message just asked me to call to discuss the harness. I am not able to call during their business hours so I sent another email 03/03/2011 to ask them to respond through email. Again no response. I emailed 03/04/2011 and 03/07/2011. On 03/07/2011 I got a email from "Courtney." The email stated:

The harness is being redone and reshipped as per the voice mail should have indicated. The harness is made to order and will reship in 1-2 weeks. Please note the original harness was shipped on 1/27.

First of all the voicemail only requested that I call. Second, at no time did they ever advise that the harness was previously sent. No only that but the package that was shipped 1/27 was the second wrong collar. I responded with this information to which I got a really snotty response back:

While i appreciate you calling me a liar, i can see clearly here that the harness was ordered from our shop on 1/19 and shipped on 1/27. Now, what happened to it from there is up to the carrier. Our system is 100% automated and unless there was a Human Error (entirely possible), the harness WAS shipped on 1/27.

if you would like to argue over irrelevant details, I am here to listen. However I can tell you that a new harness is being prepared and will ship in 1-2 weeks

WOW! Professional huh? When I responded asking for additional proof, a confirmation or shipping number, invoice, etc. I never got another response. I did finally get the harness on 03/19/2011. The harness, although not advertised as such, is a Yellow Dog Design, Inc. brand. In Hot Dog Collars' responses it stated that the harness was made to order. I contacted Yellow Dog Design, Inc. who advised me:

You should be able to identify Yellow Dog Design, Inc. products by our label that is sewn in during production. Yellow Dog Design, Inc. produces and tests its own line of products independently of other vendors.

Another lie...BUYER BEWARE!! You can order the same products from other companies!

"Do NOT use this company. The measurements they provide on their website are completely incorrect. I followed their directions for measuring my pet perfectly, but the shirt was still too small. When I complained that the shirt was too small for my pet, they told me I would have to pay to ship it back to them so they could send me a new one. I felt that since their measurements were wrong, I shouldn't have to pay to send it back but I had no choice. I sent this product back in December 2010 and it is now March 2011 and I still have not received a new one. They have a couple of girls working the phones who claim they have no control over giving refunds and said they never received the shirt. They stil have my money and now I have no product. HOT DOG COLLARS ARE A SCAM. Do not use them!!!"

HOT DOG COLLARS IS AWFUL! DO NOT ORDER!!!
I tried to contact customer service for 10 days by e-mail. I tried calling the phone number, but was directed to the e-mail due to warehouse inventory by the answering machinge. When I finally talked to someone after 10 days, I was transferred to a man who identified himself as James. James had an attitude as sooon as he picked up the phone. He was VERY RUDE. I mentioned the e-mails that I sent and he claimed that 3 e-mails ahd been sent back to m, but I had not recieved any. I question the number 3 anyway. If they answered, it would only be once if you listened to the rude James, because he just kept saying the same thing over and over and that was bascially he could care less that my order was messed up TWICE. Why would they send it three times? I asked him what e-mail address they were using and he could and would not tell me. He did not have acess to that information, but had access to know about the e-mails. He made no sense and I told him, which caused him to raise his voice at me. I asked him to forward these e-mails to me, but he could not do that either. So, I am fairly certain my e-mails were just ignored and were never answered.

Time has been of the essence since I placed the order on January 14,2011 because our dog si going through cancer treatments. I called on January 29, 2011 and talked to someone who tried to help with my messed up original order, but I got the exact same thing in the mail in mid-February. All I wanted to do is find out what could be done. I was ignroed for 10 days and then talked rudely to on the phone by someone who clearly should not be in customer service due to anger problems.

I can't say enough how much James ruined Hot Dog Collars for me. I justed wanted to get the collar for my dog and not have to reorder from another company. I am already spending enough money on cancer treatments.

I sent this information in a certified letter to the company and was ignored.

SAVE YOUR MONEY and BUY ANYWHERE ELSE!

"Do yourself a favor and look for another company to order your dog collars. hotdogcollars.com have the worst customer service - ive been waiting on my order for a month and still havent recieved my products. Everytime I call its daysssssssss to you get someone on the phone. The lady that I talked too wasnt pleasent and seemed to be annoyed that I was calling wondering where my product is. Save yourself the pain, these guys run their business like dog S**t."

"Terrible service! My order took 8 weeks to process and I had tried several times to contact the store via e-mail and phone. The e-mail was ignored and they don't answer the phone just put you on hold forever.
Then when my order did finally arrive there was only half of it there with no explanation as to where the rest of it was!

"I made a purchase on 7/24/2008 for a personalized collar with our dogs name, our address, phone, etc.
When we received it the embroidered lettering was somewhat unreadable, and the phone number was not at all clear (most important part).
I thought ok,, I will notify them by email to try and resolve, I never approach negatively. Very nicely mind you. Well to my surprise the response I got from Hot dog collars was an email blasting,,, basically telling me to stop bothering them. And what I got was what I got.
So to all beware, and when I was going through old files and found this invoice and could not help but to remember,,,,, "be careful words of scorn, they do last! in memory!"
So buyer beware of customer satisfaction!!

"Ordered a cheap collar from the website but found out from my wife that it was the wrong size about 10 minutes after placing the order. I called customer service but no one answered. The machine told me to email their help desk. I did. No response. I called and emailed again the next day. No response. I did, however, get an email saying the package was shipped. When it came I wrote "return to sender" on the outside. Two days later it was back in my mailbox. USPS said I had to mail it back. The website still hasn't answered my phone call or answered my email looking for a full refund. Their policy is to take back a 10% restock fee plus cost of shipping it to me (plus the cost of me shipping it to them). This entire shipment process could have been avoided if someone picked up the phone or answered my emails."

"The collar I received had no significant reflective value and was not what was advertised online. The original ad from which I selected the collar has been removed. The order took a month to be filled and subsequent communication was difficult to initiate and then it was terminated with no resolution of the matter. What I received was fine if priced lower for comparable products but had no value added to the additional charge for being reflective/glow in the dark

My order was eliminated so that I could not post a reveiw, and then my account closed. Finally, on Dec 11, I got the reply that I was no longer a customer and should shop elsewhere. The emails apparently came from the owner, Todd.
