Utter idiots

"I placed an order for a basket 12/17/19 and was informed the delivery will be 12/23. I called the family and they said it had not arrived and this was Christmas Day. Two days later I called to inquire where the gift was. I
Was told ‘we don’t know’ and the rep had zero clue what to do. I suggested they replace and sent it overnight, rather than almost 2 weeks from today, I was told that’s too expensive. Well, they screwed it up and should fix it. Never, I will
Never deal with these dip sheets again.

Horrible Customer Service

"Unlike some of the other reviews, the 3 orders I placed were delivered on time. My problem was PLACING the orders. I entered the orders with no problem, but the system wouldn't let me review and pay for them. Long story short, it took me 3 hours to finally get my confirmations. I talked to at least 5 people (I lost count). Of the people I talked to, only the last person understood my problem the first time I explained it and solved the problem immediately, and he was an English-speaking supervisor located in the U.S. Why and when did Harry and David move Customer Service to another country? Are supervisors the only ones in the U.S. now? In previous years, if I had a problem with my order, the ONE rep. I talked to spoke English and handled my issue within MINUTES, not SEVERAL people over several HOURS. One of the reasons the order wouldn't move forward was because I was allowed to put an item in my cart that was out of stock. Maybe the site should have told me that so I could've chosen another item without having to call. The first person I talked to put me on hold for 5 minutes, only to tell me to try to place the order again in an hour because the system was being updated or upgraded (I couldn't understand which). Of course, when I tried again, it still didn't work and I had to call back. There were other problems, but explaining them would just raise my blood pressure again. I just know that I will not order again if I have to call Customer Service to get it placed. Move them back to the U.S. or get people who speak English. This was unacceptable!!"

DELIVERY NIGHTMARE

"I have placed 2 orders with H&D.
Order #1: Placed in Oct 10 days prior to when I wanted order to arrive. No holiday rush excuses in Oct for late delivery. Just late for my relative's birthday. They gave me a discount on future order as apology.

Order #2: Placed Christmas order 12/10 so it would be sure to arrive BEFORE Christmas.
Dec 21 finally receive email notification gift will arrive to my recipient by end of day 12/21.
Dec 21st comes and goes - no delivery. Now I look at my order status and it has dropped the 'Order processed', 'In Transit' updates and dropped back to 'Order confirmed'. Seriously?!
Once again order was later.

Will NEVER order from Harry & David again.

Called Customer Service and they could care less.

First time shopping with Harry & David....and my last!

"Purchased a box of cookies as a gift on 12/11/19. Order went through normally and I waited. Finally received tracking number and waited! Tracking number never updated so called customer service on 12/17/19 and was told package would be there by 12/24/19. Nothing had arrived by 12/23 and checked again. I was then told it was out of stock! I then spoke to a supervisor who told me he was sorry but nothing could be done. I asked him how could the order go through and a tracking number be allocated when there was no stock. He had no idea and transferred me to another person to issue a refund. During that process she told me that they had a lot of problems with the inventory not being updated accurately and I was on of many who experienced this! This was my first shopping experience with them and will never attempt to purchase from them again!!"

Promised delivery by Christmas

"I was assured twice by the man with whom I was speaking that my order would be delivered by Christmas Day. I received an email on December 23rd that it was not going to be delivered until January. I will no longer be placing any more orders with Harry & David & I have been a customer for many years with them. They should not lie to their customers. "

Christmas 2019

"I ordered a big breakfast platter for Christmas since my Kitchen was under construction, it was ordered on the 16th and due in on the 19th perfect right! Well get a fed x tracking the morning of the 22nd that I will receive it on the 26Th! Called the customer service and they could. It help me sorry is all they did everything was out of stock that’s that’s why they shipment was late! Who does that!

Don’t promise things you can’t deliver keep your stock up to date! I spent over 2,000 dollars in presents and this! Will never order from them again!

Will never buy from Harry and David again. Terrible customer service!

"I will never order another thing from Harry and David. The customer service is beyond horrendous – and the website itself is fraught with errors. The discount codes don’t work – even though they are advertised in big letters on the main screen - and unexpected error messages pop up throughout the process.

I spent two and a half hours the other day trying to purchase a $200 basket, which I was unable to do. I went through customer service both online and via telephone, and finally typing up an e-mail to customer service detailing my experience. Five days later – no response from anyone.

When I called customer service because the discount code wasn’t working, it sounded like I had called a crowded barroom. SO much noise in the background! I had trouble understanding the person with whom I spoke as she had a strong accent – and she clearly did not understand the problem at all. She ended up leaving me on hold for five minutes and I just hung up.

I then went on the online chat option – and had to go back three times while trying to put the order together because the site kept indicating that “an unexpected error had occurred” and I must retry. This – of course – entailed entering my credit card information each time – which made me feel really comfortable – NOT.

At one point, when the chatline person was “researching the problem”, he came back on the chat to ask if I wanted to continue the chat because I hadn’t typed in anything for a bit. I informed him I was waiting for my researcher (him) to get back to me. Obviously – no one was researching anything.

A pathetic waste of time. If they just fixed the errors on their site, a person wouldn’t have to resort to their completely incompetent customer service.

The misspelled my name on a gift to my MOTHER. It's 5 letters long.

"I used to buy Harry & David pears as holiday and birthday gifts for my Bubbe (father’s mother) when she was alive, so this year with her having passed, it meant a little more to buy them for my father’s remaining living relatives, my two aunts. I also purchased them for my mother, who has a birthday that falls right before Hannukah. A week before mom’s birthday I found a few free minutes and went online to set up my order. I got mom’s card greeting all set up and her address all typed in; I got Aunt Naomi’s card greeting all set up and her address all typed in; and I got Aunt Davia’s card greeting all set up and her address all typed in. This would be the beginning of the problems I would encounter. The website refused to accept Aunt Davia’s address. The reason? It was demanding I enter a U.S. state. Aunt David lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, which the automatic address section of the website had clearly acknowledged; it simply refused to proceed further until I provide it with a “state.” (Yes, I checked the list; no, there were no provinces listed on the list.)
So, I did the thing I had not wanted to do and called your customer service team. The woman I spoke to was very nice but clearly not adept at typing. She argued with me several times about how to spell my Aunt Davia’s name. Yes, MY Aunt Davia. It took over three to four times the amount of time it had taken me to do it online, to complete the exact same information with your customer service representative. Again, very nice lady. However, when I checked my e-mail to see my receipt, I noticed an additional, glaring error that I am very upset about. I told your representative how to spell my name. It is five letters long. I offered to spell it multiple times, even. She did spell it correctly on my package to Aunt Davia, Sonya. On my packages to Aunt Naomi and my mother? “Sonja.” My mother, specifically, as you may have guessed, is one of the two people responsible for determining how to spell my name. “Sonja” is not what she chose.
I am extremely disappointed in my interactions with what appears to be every level of your services- your website, and your customer service team on the phones. I paid a lot of money for my family to get misspelled cards and fruit. Next time, I’m saving myself the hassle and getting us all literally anything else. I was stressed out enough about this time of year before these errors impeded my ability to enjoy the act of gift giving.

Lack of Delivery on time

"Paid extra for shipping to arrive on 12/20; this morning the customer service reps (called twice) said it would be delivered today.- 12/21. Unfortunately the recipients left early today for a vacation and will not be home to accept the delivery, which may sit on their porch until they return in 8 days. Customer service said they would refund the extra shipping, but I asked for full refund as the delivery will not be usable when they return after January 1. "

ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS - BUYER BEWARE

"Placed ordered back in November to be delivered between 12/18 to 12/23. Ordered two items to go to the same address for my elderly parents. I sent an email in 12/17 asking status of one of the items when only one item was delivered. Received two totally nonsensical emails in return but finally got an email at 6pm on 12/19 advising that the item I ordered was now out of stock and would not ship until the middle of January. I wouldn’t have gotten that email if I hadn’t kept sending emails because the prior responses were so unhelpful. He also apologized because he said someone should have called me to let me know that the item would not be delivered by 12/23 (date promised in order) to either make other arrangements. Basically, I was penalized for buying early and delaying shipment to arrive Christmas week. I called customer service twice on 12/20, neither person could speak English, weren’t helpful, and the 2nd representative refused to transfer me to the gentleman who had sent me the helpful email. I asked to speak to a manager, after waiting on hold several minutes, she came back on the line and said someone would call me back and told me to hang up. Well - needless to say I NEVER received a call back. And now, literally within days of Christmas and no other vendors can get a present to my parents in time for holiday. I had to email a cancellation request and surprise surprise no apologies from the company. I had to place an order through Amazon but it will not arrive in time for Christmas.

Honestly, this business is so bad 1 Star is too good for the completely horrendous experience. My recommendation- buy local where possible because this company totally does not care about the customers and is especially egregious given the exorbitant prices they charge.

"I ordered 4 gift baskets to be sent to 4 family members. Only 1 was delivered with a great product and in a reasonable window. The others were left with the USPS from fedex only to be delayed and/or lost Sitting in the phone with Harry & David to get items replaced is a long process. Pears showed up so bruised and over ripen from sitting in USPS trucks for days. These baskets are expensive and it’s ridiculous that they were not delivered promptly. I will not ever order gift baskets from

Delivery

"I placed an order on 12/5/2019 for my elderly Father-in-law in assisted living in Florida. I paid extra for this to be delivered on 12/23/19 so that it was as close to Christmas as we could get. I received an email on 12/20 and my order was delivered on 12/19. I called Customer Service early on 12/20 and asked about it, she said yes, it was delivered. I told her it was 4 days early and that I had paid for a 12/23 delivery, she said she could refund that part back. No apologies, no nothing. I won't ever order from them again and hope that enough people read this and will also go another route for gifts.
Very disappointed and absolutely HORRIBLE customer service.
