BAD BUSINESS

"I placed a order above my $400.00 credit so understandably it was canceled. So I called and placed a second order within hours. Customer service canceled it. This whole ordeal started 9 days ago. I've called ask for a supervisor. I've been hung up on 19 times today alone. 5. They do not want to give you a supervisor. Last night I finally got a hold of the elevation department. The man actually spoken English and understood me. He then had a customer representative replace my order that was within my credit limit and assured me everything would be okay. Well today they cancel the order again for 393.06 which two of the items are discontinued so it should actually be 326. After being hung up on five times today, I still have no order and just keep getting transferred. This company is not worth your time. If I could give them zero stars I would. They need better customer service reps that understand and speak English. I don't care if I have 400 in credit. It certainly is not worth waiting a week to get an order to go through and still have nothing. Please avoid this company at all costs. I don't care if they've been in business since 1836. They are no good and bad business practice and you hear 20 people in the background telling customers I going to help you. I go into help you so they're all in a call center. This is not a family-owned company maybe at one time but the customer service and credit department are terrible. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. My order kept getting canceled and never made it to credit by the way

HARRIET CARTER CATALOG STOLE MY MONEY

"I placed a catalog order from Harriet Carter (mail order) on Sept 5, 2022 for $114.75. I ordered 4 turtleneck shirts and an adjustible footrest. They sent the 4 turtlenecks within 2 weeks and there was nothing on the receipt to indicated that the footrest was backordered, no mention of it at all. I assumed they were shipping it seperately and I never got it. Finally I emailed customer service and they put the ball back in my court claiming I needed an "order number" or "account number" ...FOR A MAIL ORDER!! They DO NOT KEEP RECORDS HOW CONVENIENT. They basically kept $60 of my money with no explanation and I never got the footrest. I will NEVER order anything from this company again. I have nothing but the record of the cancelled check in my bank statement to prove I ordered this footrest. They are very sleazy for doing this to their customers. It's not our responsibility to keep up with orders/order numbers, that is THEIR responsibility and should be on their computer!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!"

Horrible customer service

"I called to find out how I became a perks member, but before I even said anything I was met with sarcasm. I thought she just didn't like her job, but as I went further into the call the more condescending Emily became. Beware of the perks program, it come across as a discount, so it's hard to spot.
After asking for a supervisor 5 times before she transferred me, I was able to talk to Kay. He apologized and said he'd review the call. who know what will happen, but I did feel heard, finally. Thank you Kay.

But I still will never order from there again.

Charged $14.95 a month 3 times already

"I ordered some chair pads and signed up for perks to get free shipping, which could be cancelled at any time. Well try to find the spot on their website to cancel - I don't see it. So I sent them message after message. Finally after 2 months I get a message back from somebody who says I'm not signed up for anything on their site, but yet just took another $14.95 out less than 10 days ago. I hate calling because usually the customer service people do not speak English very well and I can't understand them, plus with the messages I have it all documented. Today I made the call and was so happy I did. Wonderful customer service person. It took her awhile to find my account for some reason but when she did she saw the whole story. She cancelled for me and is refunding all the money they took from me on my credit card (was having a problem with the bank stopping the payments). Hoping this all comes true. As for the seat cushions, I really liked them. BUT I will NEVER EVER shop here again. What a headache! Years ago they were great as my mother used to order all the time from here. I don't know what happened but it's just not the same."

Disappointing product

"I ordered some microwave covers. They were about $10 for three. When I got them they were very flimsy and there was a sticker on that about causing cancer. I have called 3-4 times to be removed from there list and I received one today. No way to Unsubscribe!"

Covid charge

"I ordered something for 5.99. Total 19 and change. 6 dollars And change for shipping plus tax 1 and change, plus covid charge of almost 4.00. What kind of company charges people because of a pandemic. This shows you exactly who this company is. Greed is their Motto. No caring for customers or fellow human beings. Gouge them while we can is the mission of this company."

How Much Does Harriet Carter Make on RESHIPMENT FEES ??

"Started to place to separate orders but noticed a $1.50 charge for priority reshipment.
Called tollfree number turned out to be the Philippines.
Was told if the USPS lost my package I would have a priority reshipment.
If nothing goes wrong, that is an extra $1.50 in their pocket.
I wonder just how much Harriet Carter makes in extra fees.
Not a good business practice and they have lost a longtime customer because of it :(

20th anniversary bird clock

"Usually when something is limited edition and a anniversary item you expect it to be as good or better than the original. Absolutely not in this case 20th anniversary singing bird clock. I purchased the original for my 12th anniversary original and have always had it on my wall and absolutely love it!
However, While I understand with inflation things will be different this clock is much smaller. Totally my fault for not looking at the 8-inch description. The package arrived in a padded envelope, the box inside and damaged. I have learned anything shipped by FedEx will not arrive as you hope.( please take note of that Harriet Carter) The button on the back of the clock to change the bird sounds works at times. I hope to getting to know the different sounds of new Birds on this clock however I am very disappointed in the product.
I will take responsibility for not looking at the description carefully and realizing it's much smaller, however the way it is shipped is unacceptable and I will think twice before ordering from Harriet Carter again anything that can be damaged.

Poor design

"Received my order on time, all ok.
Ordered 2-12” outdoor planters, #715284.
The items are made to fit over a 4” fence rail, and hold a large bouquet of flowers. When placing the planters on the rail, they would not stay upright, but
tipped to either side of the fence very easy. A slight wind will blow them over.
The only way I can keep them on the fence, is to drill a hole in the center of the planter, and screw this to the rail. Very poor design.
Another problem is that there are no drainage holes in the bottom of the unit. It fills with water after every rain. This can be resolved by drilling two drainage holes in each of the bottoms brackets of the planter. Again, very poor design.

Never again

"I have done business with this company for several years in the past with no problem other than they are usually slow to ship. However, recently I have had a huge problem with them. I ordered a large item which i never received due to an incorrect address label created by them. It was returned by the delivery company, not me. When I called to ask about the absence of the item, I was told a refund had been issued to me by mail. After about 2 weeks, I called to ask again, and they said it takes 2 to 3 weeks for a refund to be issued. I am still waiting....never again."

WARNING: $14.99 per month SCAM

"Thanks to your prior reviews for alerting me to this scam. I purchased a $6.50 undersink mat, $6.50 shipping. Fine. Got an email that said I qualifies for a shipping discount - had to join this ADVANTAGE club. Turns out - the fee for that club is $14.99 PER MONTH and they had already charged me once.

As the package took 16 days to arrive - I search for reviews and found out about this scam on this web site. Called customer service, and to their credit, they refunded the $14.99 they had charged me and cancelled my account.

How can a company operate if its sole business plan is to con customers into a $14.99 monthly subscriptions that get the customer absolutely nothing? Amazing

Toe Spreaders

"Ordered items #c-1923 & c-1924 (soft toe spreaders) from China. After wearing barely two hours, I had to tear them off, as my feet were on fire; chemical burning. Couldn't get my shoes and socks off fast enough. Items were washed through three different wearing, all with the same results. Was offered a refund, but my main reason for contacting, was to warn them of this product. "

SCAM

"Have bought from this company in the remote past without problems. I recently purchased about $45 merchandise from them. Then a month later I noticed that I was being charged $14.99. I called them to find out why I was being charged when I had not bought anything more and was told that when I made my previous purchase I “agreed “ to a Harriet Carter “membership” for a monthly charge of $14.99. What a joke! Make a one-time purchase and get charged almost $15 a month for nothing! This is nothing but a scam and as far as I am concerned they should be prosecuted and shut down! Don’t ever buy anything from these crooks"
