GloBat is a ripoff

"I was with Globat for 20 years and had no problems. I paid IN ADVANCE for 3 years of service. But I made the mistake of giving them my credit card to be held on file. It appears that GloBat was possibly sold, and the new owners pulled a dirty trick on its customers: They DOUBLED their rate without telling us. MY rate was a hundred dollars a year for 20 years. Then, I checked my credit card bill and saw that Globat charged me over $700 instead of $300. I immediately called Mastercard and put a stop on the payment. But over the next 2 months, Globat pulled out the fine print in their policy. What was that? In order to cancel service, you must notify Globat 30 days in advance, or they will charge you the full amount. I was never notified that my bill was due. I was never notified that their rates had DOUBLED. They simply charged my card and got away with it. I left Globat because I "thought" by doing so I could get my money back, but no. So I paid them over $700 for NOTHING. And remember, my bill wasnt even due for another 2 weeks! In other words, they billed me BEFORE my service went into effect and still got me in the fine print. Only a rotten no good company would pull a trick like that, and Globat is a no good rotten company now."

"I was with this company for many years. The price was rock bottom which is why I signed up with them. The service was a mixed bag with many outages and long periods of very slow access. The most annoying part of the company is their deceptive policy of charging for automatic upgrades. Unless you see the e-mail and tell them not to do it, you get socked with a $50 charge every other month or so. My impression is they use their existing customer base to subsidize the ultra low prices they offer to new customers.
