Scam Scam Scam

"SCAM SCAM SCAM
This company is a total scam. I needed to book a room for one night at a hotel for golf that I have stayed many times in the past. I went online and the site that I was lead to believe was the actual hotel site, I eventually found out was not it was this scam company getaroom.com. I booked a room and when I got my email conformation, it said I booked two nights. I immediately called their customer service number within two minutes of receiving the email. When speaking to the representative,(he is still making me think that I am speaking directly to the hotel) he informs me that the “Hotel Policy” is no changes and no cancellations. I informed him that I have stayed at this hotel many times and their policy as is the rule in PA, is no penalty if canceled within 24 hours of arrival. (my arrival date was still three weeks away) when I asked to speak to a supervisor, he refused. It was now that I realized I was not speaking to the hotel directly. I hung up the phone and called my credit card company to dispute the charge. Remind you this is all being done within 15 minutes of original booking. I then called the hotel directly to book my room. Cost directly from the hotel for one night, $243.41. Cost charged by this site, $719.39 which included a bogus “Tax Recovery & Service Fees” of $200.63. I figured once I disputed the charges with my credit card company, all would be done. The arrogance of this company, they actually responded and provided bogus information to my credit card company again explaining that “The Hotel Policy was no cancellations” (this company actually has an entire “Charge Back Team”) I have now provided actual documentation back to my credit card company and my attorney, this includes the false statement that GETAROOM.com provided regarding “The Hotel Cancellation Policy” the actual Hotel Cancellation policy stating I had up to 24 hours prior to arrival to cancel without penalty and time stamped emails and cell phone statements showing I tried to change my reservation two minutes after receiving the email conformation. People need to know how bad it is to do business with this company!!! We must post these reviews on all social media and travel sites. Even local radio and TV stations that have segments on companies and their unfair practices. Better Business Bureaus etc. GETAROOM.COM / CCI*HOTEL RES bad to the bone

"BIGGGG SCAM. BEWARE!! I WILL BE SPREADING HOW FRAUDULENT THIS IS. THEY CHARGE BOGUS Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees* AND DO NOT TELL YOU THAT YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR IT! I PAID MORE THAN HALF OF MY STAY AT A HOTEL TO THIS COMPANY FOR A 5 MINUTE CALL OF BOOKING A HOTEL.

My Master card won't dispute the charge for me!

"Theft by deception. Charge 92.00 in fees for a 177.00 room . Did not show fees associated until after you book the room rate and it's non refundable .
This mistake cost her 70.00 more than it should have .

"Charged $100.00 more for 2 nights than the actual resort didn’t show the breakdown of their fees at all, and didn’t show full price till after booking, at which point I couldn’t cancel. Should be shut down"

Terrible service don't use them

"I booked a room in Vernon CA instead of Vernon TX I noticed 24 hours in advance only to hear sorry the only option is to cancel the original reservation and be charged then rebook in the right country and state. I know it was my initial mistake but I expected understanding. What I got was not english speaking customer service agents telling Tough ****t. "

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY – rip off alert!

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they will rip you off, I booked a room for a few nights at a $220/night charge and they charged me a $326 FEE. That is a rip off!!! They would not allow me to cancel the reservation either, I disputed the charge with my credit card company and lost the dispute. Don't get ripped off, don't use this company! They have over 1700 complaints listed on the Better Business Bureau!"

Horrible scam

"I had a similar experience to lots of these reviews. I, like others, thought I was booking through Marriott. I looked at my credit charges the next day, and I saw this strange and very expensive charge ($1420.81!) from getaroom.com. I realized my mistake, so I called the number associated with the charge. I’ve been burned by 3rd party bookings in the past plus I wanted the Marriott Bonvoy points. When I first called, I actually was met with a seemingly helpful customer service representative. What happened after was horrible:
1) They said the reservation was non-refundable, but if I contacted the hotel and they agreed to refund the money that they would honor the refunded cancellation.
2) I called Marriott customer service and spoke with another lovely woman named Hattie, and she said absolutely they would refund it and to go ahead and cancel it. Confirmation of refunded cancelation: 43924797
3) I called getaroom.com back. They said to process the refund I would have to first cancel the reservation. Since I had been assured I would be refunded, I agreed to cancel the reservation (big mistake). They then said they would have their third party hotel liaison contact Marriott to confirm the refund. That right… a third party for a third party booking. This is the really shady part. At no point could I speak to the person who was contacted Marriott. I have no proof that a contact (or attempt to contact) ever took place. More on this later. After being on hold for >20 minutes, they got back on the line to say they were unable to reach Marriott and that they would keep trying. I, naively, thought they would. 4) I, of course, never heard back so a few days later I started pursuing this again. Mind you, I booked this reservation more than a month in advance. I next tried chatting with one of those Marriott text chats. They weren’t too helpful beyond apologizing for my inconvenience and confirming that I had been misled by the previous customer service representative. Case number: 371364692.
5) Next I called the AC Marriott in Missoula directly. They were so nice about all of this, also agreed to speak with getaroom.com and to refund the money.
6) I called getaroom.com back and my call was received by a very unpleasant man. I tried to explain my situation and gave him the name of the person at the AC Marriott Missoula to contact directly. Again, was on hold for >20 minutes while they had their hotel liaison contact the AC Marriott Missoula. They said they had not only sent an email, but they called with no answer, so they left a voicemail for her. I sensed that this was incorrect… it was very easy to get through to her before. Plus she knew my situation and was waiting for the call. Case number 02659938.
7) I called AC Marriott Missoula back, spoke again to the nice woman, and she told me she had not received any emails or voicemails. I called getaroom.com back to tell them that they were mistaken about the number and email address. This is when they were really unpleasant. I just wanted to give them the appropriate number and email address, but they were adamant that I would have no direct contact with hotel liaison. I also requested being at least cc’ed on the emails sent (just to confirm that they were sent!) and of course they said no to that. This went on for several minutes, trying to find any solution to this problem. They were completely unhelpful and rude, bordering on antagonistic. I still have no idea if an attempt was ever made to contact Marriott.
8) I realized I was getting nowhere contacting this company, so disputed the charge on my credit card. At first, my money was refunded. But apparently American Express contacted getaroom.com and ‘the merchant sent documentation in support of this transaction’. And now I have to pay the money again.
9) SO… now I’m here. This has gone on for almost a month already. This has been a horribly frustrating and time-consuming processes. This is a total scam. MAKE SURE YOU BOOK DIRECTLY!

No refund policy, scam company

"We booked a hotel reservation on Sun, Aug 7, 2022 at 9:52 PM, check-in on August 17. This was paid in full in the amount of $1,024.63. On Mon, Aug 8, 2022 at 8:33 AM, the next morning less than 12 hours later, plans had changed and I called this company to cancel the reservation.

After runaround I was transferred, and the next agent said that there are no refunds. We could cancel, but would lose the entire price of $1,024.63. The charge has not even settled on the credit card yet, which I assume they do so that chargeback cannot be initiated, since the refund policy is unacceptable. I need a refund. No one can afford to lose that much money.

SCAM!

"DO NOT book a room with this company! SCAM! The cancellation policy is that you must cancel on the day that you make the reservation or you are screwed. This was NOT clear when booking. And I didn't receive the confirmation email with the policy on it until the day AFTER I booked which was already too late to cancel! On top of that, they charged me almost $100.00 in fees! I thought I was making my reservation through the H Hotel but when I called to cancel due to a family emergency they said I had to call this company. The customer service agent I spoke to was heartless and rude. I have never had such a horrible experience with hotel cancellations."

Scam practices by Reservations.com AKA Getaroom.com AKA Roomvalues.com DO NOT USE THESE SITES!

"Was researching hotel prices in Tallahassee FL to attend service for a dear friend. Googled The Aloft, first site was listed as The ALoft but turned out to be third party, Reservations.com. Unknowingly, went through the tabs to see what lowest room type was for my dates. Of course, there were limited rooms left. Site said I could "reserve" which I did to hold the reservation. When I had entered my information and hit "reserve" button, a page immediately came up with "you are booked, and your reservation is non-refundable". I immediately tried to call number listed on that page only to find out it was a reservation site and could not get prompt for a real person. Called my CC company right away to dispute. Still in dispute. NO WHERE ON ANY PAGES DURING THE RESERVING PROCESS WAS NON-REFUNDABLE STATED, YET COMPANY STATES OTHERWISE. STILL IN DISPUTE. DISHONEST AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. DO NOT USE!"

"They have the most frustrating and disgusting practices. They are unprofessional, have no supervisors or managers to talk to and will not make ANY changes to your reservation, UNLESS YOU CANCEL AND THEN YOU WON'T GET YOUR MONEY BACK. My reservation is a month away and they can't change it?!? So shady, so frustrating. I didn't even know I was booking through them. The hotel directed me to their site and it was a huge mistake. BEWARE!!!"

getaroom.com is a scam

"I was scammed by this travel website. I typed in Hampton Inn & Suites No. Boulder in Google. The first line that came up included a photo of the hotel and said "click here for reservations." I thought I was on the hotel's direct website. There was no grand total shown when I entered my credit card information. Two minutes later I received an e-mail from getaroom.com with a bottom line total of $2560. I was charged $892.81 for a 7 night stay that totaled $1667.78. I immediately called the customer service number for getaroom.com and was told that I booked a non-refundable reservation and nothing could be done.
1. I called the hotel directly and was quoted the exact same room rate as getaroom.com.
2. I booked this reservation on January 29, 2022, Sunday at 9:00pm for a trip on May 5, 2022 five months later. I did not try to cancel the reservation last minute.

Fraudulent Company

"I confirmed the price for 1 room for 2 nights and was charged for 2 rooms for 2 nights. Getaroom double charged me and told me this was my fault. They refused to refund me. After a lengthy phone call where they refused to give me my $400 overcharge back. The incompetent and rude customer service person I was speaking with named Jen, hung up on me. I have to dispute this with my bank now. A huge headache. Do not ever give this company access to you bank account, they will take whatever amount of money out that they would like. They also pose as the hotels they are actually a 3rd party for to deceive people. This is a fraudulent company that deserves worse than their already terrible D+ rating with the BBB. The hotel also only had 1 room booked for me, not 2. Absolutely stunning they are still in “business.”"
