"After deciding what I needed I placed an order with Genius Camera. The Nikon D200 package that I had in mind had to be shipped from an overseas warehouse so I changed my mind and they gladly cancelled the order. This was the same as the majority of the sites and stores I researched. After rethinking I called back and spoke to a very good salesperson by the name of Adam and ordered the D200 body, a camera bag and memory card. When it arrived on time it was just as I hoped for. Adam, and the rest of the fine Genius Camera staff I want to extend a very sincere thank-you for making my first internet camera purchase a good experience. Keep up the good work! "I dont even know why I tried. Everything everyone else says is true, I called to "confirm" my order. was offered a 70$ battery, declined that and was told to "enjoy". Called back not 5 minutes later and it was on backorder. The only good that came out of it is i found this website. Wish i found it sooner..."

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND THIS COUNTRY? THESE GUYS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THEIR TACTICS, COMPLAINTS ARE MADE, BUT YET THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS. WHAT THE HELL? ARE PEOPLE JUST COMPLAINING HERE AND THATS IT? NO ONE HAS REPORTED THESE GUYS TO THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES?

oh my gawd. how are these people allowed to stay in business? i too got fooled into the great prices. got the email saying to call to confirm order. i was thinking, cool these people are good in that they verify that i actually placed the order before actually charging my credit card.

BIG MISTAKE. i ordered a canon lens. as soon as i called, the guy asked me what kind of camera i have and then started to tell me that the lens i bought was no good for a digital camera because of the cropping factor. and that the lens he has for me which was only $40 more didn't have any cropping factor. DOES HE THINK I'M STUPID?! well maybe i was for initially ordering thru them without checking reviews about their store. anyway, cropping factor is on the camera not the lens. he persisted with the lens and i kept on saying "NO". and then i just hung up on him. i then called my credit card company and alerted them that if they see a charge come in from these guys, that its a fraud. sure enough, like most people here have said, if you don't fall for their bait and switch, you won't even see your original order because more than likely they never had that great deal in the first place. i never got the customary email about item out of stock. i sent several threatening emails without a response demanding they cancel my order. never got a confirmation on that so i called a few days later, and the guy who tried to cancel it tells me its already cancelled. don't waste your time with these guys and i'd really like to shut these people down.

"The WORST shopping experience ever! BUYERS...take your money elsewhere. My son spent his hard earned money to buy a video camera and lots of extras (especially due to the pushy salesperson Adam). At first the camera was $1600 and ADAM managed to raise the price to $2600!!! And, my innocent 15-year old son got rooked!

We also didn't get half of what we ordered; we received lesser quality things than we ordered; and the manager wouldn't pay our freight to ship back wrong items in exchange for the right (paid for) items.

We are protesting our charges, and hope that THEY are the ones who get screwed when we're through. Please DO NOT do business with these horrible operators. This is what gives a bad name to internet shopping.

If you know how to register them as an internet fraud and offender, please let me know!

"After placing the order for a camera, I received an e-mail message to call and confirm (always a bad sign). When I called they tried to get me to buy additional accessories. When I asked if the camera was in stock, they said it was. Well it wasn't in stock 2 weeks ago, it isn't today, and it may not be in 2 more weeks. I will now rely on resellerratings.com for any future purchasing I do."

"I saw the great prices on the web so I contacted Genius Cameras by phone and told them I was interested in the D200/18-200 kit. They said they had it in stock. They proceeded with the bait and switch and told me that the Nikon 18-200 lens was bad and that their exclusive Sigma 18-200 was much better. And that they had a newer version of that Sigma lens which nobody else in the country had. They said all the included accessories were entry level and that I should upgrade to the pro package. Shipping was to be $170. Total came to about $3K. The salesman was persuasive and courteous so I agreed to the deal and provided my credit card #. After a few hours the promised confirmation email never came so called back. I asked for a detailed itemized list of everything in the package and for more info on the Sigma lens. They said they could not do that. I then contacted Sigma who said there is no such lens as what Genius Camera claimed and that they were not an authorized Sigma dealer (I'd be shocked if they were an authorized Nikon dealer either). Then I stumbled upon the Resellerratings website. Everything everyone says is so true. So I called back to Genius to cancel the order. They told me the package had shipped. After calling back dozens of times over 2 days and pleading I finally got someone to cancel the order. They told me that the package was in Illinois and that they had to tell UPS to bring it back. With Genius Camera everything they say is a lie and everything they do is deceitful. If Genius Cameras were in New York I'm sure Elliot Spitzer would have had them shut down by now."

"I was curious to see just how crooked this place is. I called to place an order for a Nikon D50 at their excellent price. Told them just the body. Asked if it came with all the Nikon-included accessories. He said yes, and that the battery was a 'starter' battery. I asked what that meant. Said that is what the camera comes with. Put me on hold for a couple of minutes. When he came back on, I asked what the starter battery was and assked 'do you mean the Nikon EN-EL 3 battery that comes with the camera?' At this point he angrily said good by and hung up. Yes, Geniuscamera is as crooked as all the posts indicate."

"I thought that the price was too good to be true, but everything looked legitimate.
I also got an e-mail that I needed to call to confirm my order, and got some hard sell to upgrade to their outrageously priced compact flash, a better battery, a 3-year extended warrantee that they would upgrade free to 5 years at over twice the price of 5 year warrantees at other sellers. I was advised that the lens I had selected had some serious limitations on a digital camera, and that I could get a really great one, normal package price was $1500, but he would code me as a return user and I could get it for only $1000, well more than I had been planning to spend.
The person to whom I spoke was polite and did not give me a hard time about declining his every offer at all, although he seemed strangely distracted. I THEN checked out this website, and after reading the reviews, panicked!
I kinda wanted this camera for an upcoming trip, paid $60 for fast shipping, and was not looking forward to the backorder e-mail. I called Genuis Camera, had to pretend that I had not yet confirmed my order to get through to anyone, and waited on hold for a while, but they politely agreed to cancel my order and gave me a cancellation number, which I passed on to my credit card company.
Perhaps they have changed their ways some because of customer pressure, but I was not given any hassles.
4-23 I got the 'out of stock' e-mail the same day I got the camera from B&H Photo online! I see why they didn't give me a hassle about cancelling my order, they weren't going to ship it anyway because I didn't buy upgrades, etc.!

"LOL< Stay far away very fasr away from the store! Read all the reviews!!! It is SOOOOO TRUE!!! Just tried to buy a Canon Rebel XT with two lenses for $779.99. Noticed the receipt said silver camera instead of black that I ordered, not such a big deal but figured I really wanted the Black so ask them for it. 40 minutes of getting put on hold, then finally speaking to someone named Joe, only for him to tell me what I really needed was the 1399.99 package. The man would not take NO for an answer, lol, boy get me furious works well. Anyhow, he says that the lenses aren't digital, being a novice I figured maybe they were for the 35mm cameras. I said you are selling a digital camera package with lenses, well that makes me feel real secure about buying from your company. Than he tells me I don't understand and I am not making sense,lol. I was inbetween laughing my butt of and hitting the roof with rage. I finally said okay you sold me, I am now cancelling my order! Which took about another 5 minutes of hard selling and me yelling! He was looking about the cancellation code, which at first came out something like this B&%3)L, I told him to speak english! (no he never had an accent all while we were speaking till the first confirmation) Called credit card company right away, they said it hasn't been processed. We will see what they do, don't believe they will stop but am hoping. DON"T WALK RUN FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!"

"When ordering a camera I requested verification that camera was in stock first. When answer that camera was in stock then I placed the order. Once I place the order they tried to sell me others items. They were very pushy on selling a camera package more expensive. I declined to buy the more expensive camera package so they were mad over the phone. Next day I received an E-mail to let me know that the camera was in back order. I waited a month and call several times to get an update on the camera as well as sending E-Mail requesting status but never got an answer back. When finally got a person to talk to me they still insisting in selling me a more expensive package eventhough I already told them several times that I was not interested. At the end (a week later) I decided to cancel the order and ordered from another company who send me the camera as advertized (5 days). I am very mad on how impolite they were over the phone and the fact that after told them several times that I was not interested on buying a more expensive package, they still insist and got mad for not buying so. How are they expect to have customers if they are treated that way? This is the first and last time for me dealing with this company. The fact also that they lied to me telling me that item was in stock prior to ordering and waited to get the order placed to then send me an e-mail that the item was out of stock, it is unrespecfull. My recomendation to everyone is NOT TO ORDER anything from this store ever."

"I am so ashamed! I ordered from this place.. Got the Bait and switch method, ordered, then 10 minutes later I called back to cancel after finding much better prices other places.. Was told these other products were not the NEW lens and really intimidating me.. I told them forcefully to cancel the order.. Was told it had already been processed and I would have to receive it.. Very rude people and now I know a scam place... "

"Thank God for Resellerratings.com! I was right in the middle of purchasing a Canon 70-300 mm IS USM lens from Genius cameras when I decided to check out their rating. OH MY GOD! What everyone else has been saying about them was actually happening to me! The unbelievably low prices. The hard sell. The so called "plastic mount" lens. The "tough guy" sales approach. The lens suddenly becoming 'out of stock' when I decided not to purchase any of the overpriced extras. Etc., etc., etc. Only in America can businesses like these be allowed to continue operating. These people are a joke and should be shut down. Just wanted to say thanks to all the people who reviewed this company and the others like it. I plan on doing everything in my power to help shut them down."
