"This company is an absolute joke. Gateway computers is awful. Do NOT ever deal with them. They listed the ATI X800 XT PE on their website as available and in stock. Numerous people have placed orders with them, have received confirmation of their orders and even ETAs on the shipping date and now suddenly they have cancelled all orders without warning or without even notifying their customers. Disgraceful and deplorable. I would NEVER deal with this company ever again."

"I ordered an X800 XT as well, around 9:15AM, EST on June 3rd. The card was listed as IN STOCK. Ordered it and picked overnight shipping...

Received two e-mails. One order confirmation e-mail, and a second one indicating a link to check order status online; quick check shows order is pending.

June 4th, check status; order is suddenly slated to ship June 10th; okay, so they lied, and the card is not in stock. At least it'll still ship out June 10th, right?...

June 5th, check status; "Order Shipped 6/10" WHAT?!? It's June FIFTH, how can it HAVE shipped NEXT WEEK?!?! Call in to customer service...

...CSRep informs me that they no longer carry the item. No ETA on arrival of stock. No idea if it will ever arrive even. Order is on cancellation hold. I have her cancel it on the spot; what started off as a good deal on an item that's supposed to be in stock has become nothing but a HUGE sham! I asked about my charge card and she informed me that the credits are on hold but since the order is being cancelled they will be released without charging; I will check with my charge card company on Monday to verify this.

If they charged me and she lied, there is going to be WAR.

EDIT: Just wanted to update that I got lucky, unlike many others, and it really was only a credit hold, not authorization, and nothing was actually charged. That raises them from a 0.01 to a 0.03 in my eye. So their rating of 1.04 is still FAR too high!

"Ordered only a couple hours after the ATI Radeon X800 XT PE was spotted on gateway's website, confirmed stock online with CSR's that night, called twice the next day and confirmed stock AGAIN, asked them to check for SURE... "YES! It is definitely in stock! Your order has been sent out to be filled!"

What do I see today, 3 days later? My order has apparently shipped ** IN THE FUTURE **. It wasn't cancelled, their horrible order system can't handle that! They changed the status to shipped in the future without ever sending me any notification whatsoever. Their online order system sucks, the customer service reps have no idea what they're talking about and no idea what is going on, and when I called to talk to them after seeing this the phone system immediately disconnected me after I entered my order number.

If nobody gets fired for this, gateway is truely the worst company of any sort I have seen online lately.

"I was yet another customer swindled by Gateway into ordering an X800 XT PE... awful awful company...

They said it was In Stock and would ship on 06/09, my credit card was temporarily charged the $435, now my order is being cancelled because they never had them in stock... they lied about having them, and my credit won't be available for 10 business days.

"It is NOT okay to charge me for something the instant I place an order, then cancel the order within two days without telling me,then give me no ETA for when the order will be complete or in this case completely canceled, THEN say that it will take 7-10 business days AFTER that for when my card will be refunded.
That is what they did when i tried to purchase an ATI Radeon X800 XT that they boldly claimed was in stock, but without any shame cancelled my order, held onto my money a little longer (perhaps for interest), and then tried to tell me that its not in stock despite having told me just 1 day before that its on its way to be shipped.

If only they refunded the money as fast as they took it out of my cc, lot of people who tried to purchase that item such as myself would be quite happy I guess and wont pursue taking action against Gateway.

The way I see it I purchased a product as advertised and it should be delivered as advertised.
I was told numerous times its in stock and numerous times that i have one reserved in my name. It seems like they know how to take peoples money and take reservations but they dont know how to hold them because anyone can
take reservations but the whole point of one is to honor it and deliver as promised.

On multiple occassions once again i received
confirmations via the website and phone calls but that was obviously nothing but lies. I was even given a clear shipping and arrival dates. The only thing i havent been given is my money back or my product that i ordered.

What a joke.

"Beware of this seller.... they are one big scam... first ASSURED me over the phone they have the product in Stock and ready to ship... then two days later " We didn't get in our shipment when were suppose to.
Right now, I need to quote June 14th for the card. "

"Gateway cancelled my $440 order without my knowledge, and I would have never found out about the cancellation had I not initiated contact regarding my order.

Customer service reps and supervisors were not informed about the product. I was told the item was "in stock," and it was not. I was told my item would ship, it did not.

I would never even consider buying anything from Gateway.

"What a terrible company!!! I had ordered a X800 XT video card from them when they listed it on their site as being "In Stock". Several people that i talked to also confirmed that it was in stock. This morning I got online to check the status of my order and it told me to call a Gateway Rep. I did and they confirmed that my order had been cancelled becuase the video card had been discontinued from Gateway. Why did they list it being in stock?? Why did the representatives also say it was in stock? It was all a lie. They never had them in stock.
Not only that but i had cancelled a previous preorder with bestbuy.com to get this card at a lower price. Thankfully i was still able to preorder one from compUSA.com. The worst company i've ever dealt with. I will never buy anything from them again. Purchase at your own risk.

"Ordered a Radeon X800XT over the phone with Gateway on June 5th.
Called for status check this morning (June 7th)and they are in the process of canceling my order with no approval by me.
They said it's going to take 7-10 business days AFTER the order has been completely canceled for me to get my credit card refunded.
This company is a joke. DOn't charge someone for something you don't have in stock,and then take two weeks to refund them their money.

-Called to verify what was happening. Learned that my order had been canceled without my knowledge.

Overall, unless you REALLY want to have a product that only gateway.com has, shop elsewhere.

"I was shipped the wrong laptop. On receiving it I requested that the right product be sent out. They said they would send the parts in order to upgrade my laptop to the right model. They sent out the wrong RAM twice, one time it was PC format RAM and they still have no ETA on the ship date for the correct hard drive. I tried to cancel the order but they are holding me to a 15 day money back cutoff, even though I never received the right product!!! I have been declined requests to speak to managers (and legal dept)and all the customer service people sound like robots. There is a reason Gateway closed all of its stores. Closing the rest of the company shouldn't be far behind."

"Placed an order for a Gateway 710X desktop on 3/5/04. As of 4/10/04 my order has yet to arrive. Original arrival date was 3/26/04. Each time I check on my order status the date gets pushed back. The arrival date has been changed 5 times since order date and the latest date is 4/22/04.
(7 weeks for a computer ??)
I never receive an exact reason why. Be weary of any ship date you are given for the Gateway product. If my arrival date is pushed back again, my order will be cancelled and I will give my business to another company.

"These people will not stop telemarketing me, even though my home number is on the No-Call List and I made more than one request that they stop. It's more than a year later, and they have called my home 15 times this year alone.

"purchased complete system with additional ram and extra hard drive. hard drive delivered without mounting screws and cable. have called, emailed, and visited local store contacted sales, tech. service and cust. service on numerous occasions. several verbal and written acknowledgements that parts were ordered ,shipped, and would be delivered. no resolution after six weeks of pointless anticipation and ultimate frustration."
