Cancels orders for no reason

"Iā€™d recommend finding a different seller. The fact that they can cancel your order with no reason or explanation is a huge time waster! Will not be shopping here again."

Thanks for wasting my day

"I call ahead make an appointment to get a battery replaced at ā€œ3:00ā€ let them know what phone I had etc... you would think they would make sure they had all the parts before I drive an hour to have the work done. WRONG! I get there and after 30 mins of getting my phone ready for service am told they dont have all the parts and they can have Apple send them so I can come back another day for service! Are you kidding me!! Please can we get an official Apple Store in Logan! Expercom does NOT do the brand justice. "

Good and bad

"First, Expercom is a legit reseller that partnered with apple.
The good point:
- Their price is almost always lower than apple and most resellers.
- They don't charge sales tax to most of the states.
- Coupon is generally available to most of their product for Given another $10-20 off.

The bad side:
- Almost No return. Their return policy ****. Tight return window and charging a restocking fee for the opened box.
- Shipping speed is not guaranteed. Avoid if you need in a rush.

There you know, if you want to save money, you have to pay the price. However, if you don't need the product in a hurry or are sure the product you won't return, go ahead and try them. They are Legit

Scam Company - Watch Out

"Bought a MacBook Pro from them on cyber Monday. They charged my card, Amex approved it, then I got a mysterious cancellation email from them due to a "validation problem." After talking with supervisors I learned they use a 3-rd party validation company, and there is no way to tell why I was rejected. Absolutely no remedy, they wouldn't even tell me who this mystery company was so I could resolve it with them. Got numerous confusing emails and conflicting info from staff - stay away!"

Do not order from outside of the US

"I wanted to give these guys a good rating because they seemed like good people. It's great to see a company that has someone knowledgeable pick up the phone and actually talk to you without the tedious phone trees and menus most companies inflict you with. They were consistently nice and friendly on the phone. Unfortunately, I must record that in the end they gave me the worst customer service experience I have had from any reseller. To be fair my situation was extremely rare and unique.

You see, I am a person of the world. I live in any number of exotic foreign countries, from Mexico to Costa Rica and beyond. I return back to the United States, honestly, to buy electronics, which are horribly overpriced and difficult to get in most parts of the world. Places like Expercom cater to folks like me.

At least they should.

I would think.

But no.

Since I appear in the United States so rarely and since I am in all sorts of different places where it pays to travel light, it was natural that I would want the most expensive and powerful MacBook Pro there is. Specifically the model with enough storage even for me, the 8TB MacBook Pro. $2,300 extra for the storage alone. And naturally since getting the most memory, the fastest graphics card and so on was pretty negligible in price once I spent that much, I picked the fully specced out machine. $6,099. Expercom offered a more generous than anyone else $465-odd discount, making the price including AppleCare just a hair under $6,000. It seemed that I had properly won the battle of finding the right system at as close to the right price as I could reasonably hope.

Machines with this configuration are built to order. They send the order to Apple in China, and Apple takes about two to three weeks to build and ship it to the customer. Because of this, it was necessary for me to place the order in Mexico, about two weeks before I was to be in the United States to pick it up.

I placed my order on November 14th. I called on December 2nd to find the status of my order and they said it was going to come from China that day. I was so excited to get my fancy new machine! I was particularly excited to find the charge went through for the computer, meaning they were ready to ship.

At 9:00 pm that night, I received a notice thanking me for my business ... and cancelling the order, due to the "Mexico Flag", presumably meaning their computers noticed that I placed the order in Mexico.

I immediately emailed them asking them to reconsider canceling the order in light of the indisputable fact that I had a US credit card, I had requested shipping to a US address, and I had even told them earlier that I was going to be in the US by the time the computer shipped.

Alas, they did not listen. Instead they told me that "they", whoever that was, cancelled the order and there was no appeal. They told me I could place the order again when I returned to the US and they would "try" to link me back with my already made computer. But they did not ask the bank to release the hold on my money, so at that point I had neither money nor computer. The bank told me the money would get released when it got released, and they suggested to ask the company to reaffirm the order because they had the money.

On the next day, the 4th, I called them again. I asked them to connect me to a supervisor so I could have someone capable of dealing with the problem. I explained that I could not spend the money unless they released the money, even if I gave them the order again. They absolutely refused to connect me with a supervisor. I begged, pleaded, etc, without success. Finally I threatened to post bad reviews everywhere I could find, and after enduring my rants for what felt like an hour they relented and connected me.

The supervisor was very nice. But he explained that "they" could not un-cancel an order, and the machine had already been handed to someone else. But he did manage to release the money, thus preventing me from offering the one-star review I otherwise would have supplied. He was, I think, a decent and honest man. But he, or his computers and those who programmed them, could not provide what I had bought and paid for.

Later that day I went to B&H. They have the fully loaded and configured machine ready for delivery in 24 hours. So I will have the machine from them on Friday. At, of course, not one cent under full retail price.

But at least I'll have a machine.

I guess when the rubber meets the road, I can't recommend Expercom. Who knows why the order was cancelled? They had the money, they could have shipped the machine and I would have been happy.

B&H delivers. But it sure doesn't save me money. End of story.

They lie to their customers

"When I bought my new laptop ($3300) it said that ships in 1 - 3 business days; today is the 5 day, still pending...and now they sent me an email; saying me that they will take at least 6 to 12 business days to ship. Worst customer service ever. I rather pay $200 more to serious business than buying again to this company."

Beyond Expectations

"My drive got full and completely crashed my Macbook Pro. Apple Genius bar couldn't help. Expercom jumped in and started data recovery. The estimate was $99. Fine. I also bought a 2 TB drive to save recovered data to. Time estimate was a problem. I was in from out of town and to get all of it would take a week and cost an extra couple hundred dollars.

We started working together. Before I knew it, they had cleared things and gotten my data back to me before I had to go back home. Within 2 DAYS. And, they didn't charge anything for the rush. Amazing. I will always go back there.

Great communication of choices and expectations, in addition to the actual work performed.

"I brought my macbook pro in to have windows loaded onto it so i could run a program called ArcGIS. I tried to do this myself but could not create a partition on the harddrive. When i brought the computer in i asked if they could do this and also load the ArcGIS Program after they finished with loading windows. They then called me back to tell me i needed a new hard drive and they suggested some expensive large capacity hard drive. I further questioned them on why my one year old computer needed a new hard drive they were rude and seemed irritated that i would even ask questions. I told them to put the least expensive hard drive on the computer and received a call the next day saying that they had been able to load windows onto the computer and did not have to replace the hard drive. They told me they had to backup all of my files, wipe my hard drive and reload everything and create a new partition. This is EXACTLY what the installation manual said to do in the case that a partition could not be created. I never needed a new hard drive. When i picked up my computer i asked if they had also loaded my ArcGIS program (i left the disc with them). They told me they hadn't and they had never seen such a disc with my computer. They told me they would look hard for my disc and call me first thing monday. I received a call the following wednesday asking ME if i I had found the disc. Thankfully i had a student version of this disc because the non-student version of the program with compatible tools and functions costs about 5000$. I can only assume the program was either thrown away or stolen by an employee because they "searched everywhere for it". I would never recommend this store to anyone. I would much rather drive to Salt Lake and go to a REAL mac store where they actually value their customers."

"I've bought several times a year from Expercom since 2004 and they are terrific. They have great, responsive customer service. It's always easy to get a live person on the phone and their staff is highly knowledgeable, courteous and patient. Their prices are excellent, they ship promptly - they're just great. A big plus - this is the only mail order reseller I know of who sells built to order Macs, same as you would get from the Apple store. You get a discount, and no tax. Pretty nifty."

"Awful service! Took in my Macbook for a problem with wireless connectivity issues. After 8 days, I got a call saying tney had repaired my dvd burner. What? I picked it up and took it to the Apple store who fixed the real problem in 2 days. NEVER AGAIN will I take any product there for repair. Avoid this place!"

"I was referred to Expercom by a friend when I told him that my child had spilled Jell-O into our MacBook. We were mortified because the unit would not boot up and was just flashing hopelessly. I called Eric at ExperCom. He said they could pull it apart an try to clean it (for $40 to $80). I was expecting an $800 motherboard replacement. I took it in, and they called me an hour later to say that they had cleaned the Jell-O off the RAM chip and that the unit was working happily - cost = $40. PRAISE GOD AND EXPERCOM !!!!!!!!!!!"

"Roger was very helpful, on the phone, answering all my questions to my satisfaction. The price just seemed to cheep. I took a chance on a referb iMac. Shipped next day. Arrived in great shape and was more than stated . . . G5 no Core 2 Dual instead with new Apple Keyboard and new super mouse, OS X software and rebuild discs, drive wiped and new OS installed. All on a referb machine. These guys do what it takes to sell a referb machine that is useable when you take it out of the box and plug it in. All at unbelievable prices!"

"For those who have been thinking about buying Mac Products from Expercom. Just do it!!!

I have made a total of 5 purchases in the past (iMac 2.8, MacBook 2.4, Aiport, MAC Pro, MacBookPro 2.6) and the company is reliable. Pricing is good and most orders are processed the same day and you'll be receiving your goodies within a few days depending on the shipping option.

"I bought a new iMac from these guys at a great price and am very satisfied. It came with additional RAM as part of a promotion, one of which turned out to be broken--they immediately sent me a replacement without a fuss."
