Poor customer service

"I tried setting up a store on Etsy but my account was immediately blocked. Once I found a way to contact them without an email address, they replied in an unsigned authoritarian message that either the store or the item did not comply with their terms and conditions, and told me to not contact them again and to not open up another account as it would be closed. I still have no clue why the store was closed. "

False advertising

"Sent me a skunk feel and look hair hairpiece. Stinking odor. Refused any return. Said returnable when I ordered. Not like it looked online at all. Etsy is a rip off. You pay shipping both ways so Amazon is the way to go. No shipping fees with Amazon over $25.00. I will never order from them again. Refused to make it right. Beware!!! K'Naan Marsden "

Such a terrible experience

"Very Bad experience with my first purchase itself

I was looking for a canon telephoto lens and found an used one for a good price in Etsy. I haven’t used Etsy before and since I want to make sure its legit, i talked to Etsy customer care and told them about the purchase. they reviewed and told me there is nothing to worry and even if there is an issue in getting the lens after purchase they will back me and make sure i wont loose money.

After a day of purchase since no updates, i messaged seller and inquired when this will be shipped and what is the ETA? The listing showed delivery in 4 days. Seller next day morning responded that there will be a delay because of covid and it may take a week. i smelled something wrong on his response and asked him to ship it fast. After few hours the seller profile disappeared from Etsy.
i called Etsy and reported this and i was surprised by the response - "Please contact PayPal as money was transferred using PayPal as Etsy cannot help here and some bla bla bla"
I was disappointed due to this response as i was told once that they will help and then later they just passed on to PayPal.
i had no other way and i reporter PayPal to open a dispute. Next day seller sent me an email to close dispute and he will send once its closed. i told him i wont. Then he responded to PayPal with a DHL tracking number of a package which was shipped from Ahmadabad, India to San Jose, California. i just watched the package and it was someone's tracking number the scammer used to scam Paypal dispute. Paypal found the scam and they are closing the case in my favor by refunding the money.

I am disappointed with the fact that Etsy cant validate their sellers or provide support to buyers when these scamming sellers scam them

BUYERS BEWARE

"Horrible experience from customer service. I purchased an item and wasn’t happy with it, being new to Etsy, I called customer service. I asked how to proceed, the rep said I could return the item, gave me a reference number, plus emailed me a link and told me to contact the seller. This is when the nightmare started. I spent a good month going back and forth with the seller who refused to take the item back. Seller said they did not take items back. I told seller that customer service rep said I could and provided the seller with the reference number. I was insulted and accused of wearing and returning. Disgusted called my bank and filed a dispute, advised my bank that Etsy should take the loss as they told me I could return. I even tried to send the item back and the seller refused it. My bank would not reverse the change and I had to take a loss of just shy of $500. Went back to burying on eBay where both sellers and buyers are treated with respect. Etsy prefers to always back the seller, so it comes to BUYER BEWARE. Recommend to consumers to stay away!!!"

0 stars for Etsy- I was a customer for 1 week, NEVER again!

"Etsy shut down a business I was trying to buy more items from. I reached out to the seller and the seller wasn’t provided any reason as to why they were shut down. WTF Etsy?!?! You can’t even provide the seller a reason?? I went straight to the sellers website while Etsy lost money. I was only a customer for one week which is one week too long. I will be canceling my pending orders because Etsy can’t get their **** together! DON’T sell on Etsy and definitely DON’T buy on Etsy. Taking my business elsewhere, what a waste of time!!"

ETSY DOESN'T CARE ABAUT THE SELLERS

"I was the seller and I had one case when the buyer was trying to get another item, by claiming that the original one wasn't correct ( the customer put beads instead of original face mask).
Even though, I had all evidence including weight of the envelope, original picture, and all the 5 star reviews Etsy gave my money back to the fraud customer....
If you are a seller Etsy will not consider who is right, simply they don't care about people selling. ..
Terrible policies!!!!! And nobody ever can be reached for help...

Etsy is one of the worst companies in the world

"Etsy is one of the worst companies in the world

1- I'm the owner of the clothing shop and they closed my shop primarily and when I contacted them in the chat they closed the chat on my face and blocked me from getting any help through Etsy chat.
2- after that I tried to contact them through legal and integrity mails and they apologized for this issue and they opened the shop again And I was very happy about this.
3- after two months when my shop starting to getting sales After a great effort and hiring 3 of graphic designers in my country for my store and a large cost to set up the store they closed my account again for no reason
4- I tried to contact them again but no one responded to all of the emails that I sent from my e-mail
5- I tried to open a support case to Etsy in the help center but no one responded until now !!
6- I didn't lose hope, so I tried to post my problem in the Etsy forum and two days later I was surprised that they blocked me from entering the Etsy forum
7- I think Etsy is the most racist site and does not concern anyone but I will publish a detailed article confirming this possibility on the official website of the store.
8- I bought more than 6 digital products for my store before closing my account and today I cannot access the products that I have purchased
9- finally I strictly adhere to Etsy's rules and I really walk beside the wall in Etsy and don’t know why my account is disabled until now And why this despicable transaction with customers and sellers
10- I will open a case against Etsy in the BBB organization, and I will not stop until I receive my right or find a satisfactory solution for me

Avoid this platform

"I recently listed a couple of my items on Etsy but they deactivated my account without properly explaining me the reason, sent me scary emails that they will submit me to the collection agencies if they are willing to, and have frozen my $50 dollars for 6 months which I earned by selling 4 items. They customer service demonstrates absolute disrespect and harassment, and don't even think that their actions are legal they just took my money and do not want to pay me back. Distasting customer service, they don't even have telephone number to explain all details, and unreliable selling platform. Regards, Paul. "

"Stay away from Etsy. I paid for 2 paintings last Sunday by PayPal. Today is a Saturday. The seller is still waiting for the payment. 6 days long. You cannot reach the support: nether by phone, nor by email just by chat. But they cannot help you. They dont know where is you money.

ETSY website is a JOKE

"
My account got suspended due to some of my products not handmade by me and the suspension will not be lifted off. What money I made will not be transferred to my paypal until September 2020. This company makes their money on 90% of sellers products that are "NOT HANDMADE" but, are dropshipped from other companies. Yet, here I am one of the few ones who got their account suspended for having "SOME" of my listings as not handmade. This company is a JOKE, they say everything has to be handmade but, make most of their money off of pre-made products. All I'm saying is if I am suspended for some of my non-handmade products then this COMPANY needs to suspend all of the other sellers (90% of Etsy money makers) that are not hand making products for sell. I am angry and calling this situation unfair.

Terrible customer service and support

"Selling on etsy is a nightmare! Their phone support can take no actual actions and just keep saying it will be escalated but no one ever reaches back out to you. After calling multiples times a day for over a week we finally got a manager that reached out but they couldn't and wouldn't help either. We had a case opened against us by a buyer who threatened us, used review manipulation, stole our personal information and posted it, called us horrible names throughout the case and etsy never helped one time even though we repeatedly asked for intervention. The buyer is apparently friends with the ceo of etsy, which she states repeatedly in the case. After that they started hanging up on us, refused to respond to emails and even closed our shop even though we were doing everything they asked. The buyer refused to corporate and we were continually beat down during this process. They even made us refund the money prior to receiving the items back. When we finally got the items they were wrapped in a single blanket, the butter had not complied with the packaging requirements and all of the items we received are now damaged when they weren't before. Not only that... we didn't receive all of the items back! When we reached out to etsy they said too bad that it must be ups's fault because the buyer has done everything asked. Lies, manipulation, refusal to support us. They cost of thousands and thousands of dollars! We will never do business with etsy again! So much for supporting the small business Josh Silverman, you should pass that mindset on to your staff. "
