STAY AWAY FROM PURCHASE !

"Received damaged item case nr SC19191 , called 7 times to get it fixed or replaced, nobody ever contacted me , afetr 10 days called again, they offer to send me other cover... not knowing what else can be damaged .horrible customer service."

"Ordered a 4 inch water pump from them last year. I installed the pump and began using it this irrigation season, 10 months after purchase and still within the one year warranty. After 8 hours of use, the pump housing fell apart, total of 5 leaks throughout and due to the internal components falling apart. After contacting this company for warranty parts, they initially delayed sending me anything. At one time, was told that the replacement part was on its way, just to find out two weeks later that nothing was ever sent. After calling back, they sent me a part for a 2 inch pump, after clearly and several times emphasizing that it is a 4 inch pump. After receipt of this 2 inch part, I've called several times trying to get the right part. I've been hung up on, sent to people's voicemails, told i would be called back and never called, experienced several people using rude and condescending conduct.

My recommendation is to STAY AWAY from this company. They have not integrity and will lie and use any tactics possible to dissuade you from getting what you paid for!

"Before I ordered a generator from these guys, I checked the prices and asked if there were any upcoming sales. I was told no, yet before I even received the generator, the item's price was reduced by 10%.

I was told that this was a promotion run by the manufacturer and that my generator was purchased prior to the effective dates of the promotion.

I was further told that to return the unopened generator would incur a 25% restocking fee of $250.

When I expressed my displeasure, the representative became very terse and hung up on me.

This prompted me to file a price protection claim with my credit card.

i will not purchase anything from these folks again - there are better ways to do business.

"I bought an 8K home standby generator from Electric Generators Direct and was talked into buying a cold weather kit for $269.00. I live in southwestern Ohio where we have cold winters with varying amounts of snow so I bought it. I was later told by my electrician that in his opinion this was unnecessary since he has installed many generators and never installed a cold weather kit and no one has ever complained of them not working. When I tried to return this they would not take it back because they have a FIRM 30 day return policy. I admit that I was way past 30 days but that was due to the fact that first frigid temperatures and snow prevented the installation of my generator, followed by spring rains which delayed the trenching necessary for installation. Then to add insult to injury, my electrician cannot figure out how to connect it. They play by the book without any feelings for the customer left holding the bag."

"I ordered a 7500 watt Generac from Electric Generators Direct. When my electrician gassed it up and turned it on for the first time, the unit put out a lower voltage than is necessary for proper use. I contacted both Generac and Electric Generators Direct and they have told me that repairs will be covered under the units warranty, but that I am responsible for any transportation costs, which is $100 to closest dealer. In other words, I need to pay more money to have the defective merchandise they sold me repaired. "

"Having now taken two days off work to receive my new whole house generator I have just been told that "the truck doesn't fit down the driveway and we only do curbside delivery anyway" ..strangely FEDEX UPS and last week BestBuy (with a tail lift truck and a dishwasher) all deliver regularly..so I called Electric Generators Direct and they said "you agreed to curb side delivery when you bought this and if you want to send it back it will be $500" ... so I just checked.. I went through the purchase flow on their website and there's nothing in that flow that says anything other than it will be delivered to your address..so not only are they not helpful they are also not telling the truth. The customer rep was also really rude and surly just for additional annoyance. Of course I will dispute this with my credit card company and I'm sure I will not pay the return fee, but a word from the wise..there's no real saving with these cowboys..just go to your local big box, Home Depot/Costco or the like Electric generators Direct are unhelpful, and I am sorry to say it but they also don't tell the truth "

"I recently purchased a generator from Electric Generators Direct and they were wonderful. They took the time to answer my questions, found what I needed for my house and it was delivered in about a week. If something ever happens to my generator, I know I have a wide network of service dealers in my area to help me. I would highly recommend this company and the website is really informative."

"Filled the generator up with oil as directed in the manual and with fresh gas just purchased. Generator started but would not run with the choke turned off. Called ElectricGeneratorDirect who offered no help other than giving me the phone number to call Honda. Called Honda and they said i probably need to run stabilizer through it. I have fresh gas in it that runs another generator. blower and chain saw without any problem. Anyway now I need to drive to a dealer, leave it and then find out later if I will have to pay for the repair since Honda insinuated somehow my newly added gas has contaminated the generator. I can already see the writing as my 3yr warranty is only good if they want to honor it. They can always say the owner put bad gas in it. I have read they do this frequently to avoid doing a "free" warranty repair.

Nothing like paying top dollar for a Honda only to have to drive it in for a repair before using it one time. Very disappointed that passing along a phone number is all the support that electricgeneratordirect offers after providing a very expensive defective product. Now a have a broken generator, time and gas to drive it out for repair and possibly a repair bill on my "new" honda generator. The local authorized honda dealer already told me honda would likely not honor the warranty even though the generator came "new" to me with the defect. They automatically assume the user caused the problem. Without the seller providing support I will be stuck with the repair bill. I would avoid a company that has no after the sale support on products broken right out of the box.

"I bought a standby from these guys after Ike hit Texas and my experience was great. Knowlegeable staff helped me find a generator and transfer switch. Quick shipping and now its installed and I don't have to worry about power outages anymore. I recommended this outfit to my friends and neighbors."

"They strung me along for 2 months about a transfer switch being backordered. Several e-mails every 2 weeks for 2 months with reasons it was backordered which obviously were not true. Don't cancel the order they say because we are one of the first to get orders from manufacturer. Home Depot shipped the exact same transfer switch free of charge is less then 24 hours. Yes 1 day and it's on its way with free shipping. They have some nerve telling customers about backorder of switch. I needed this wired before I left for Florida and they had 2 months and could not supply transfer switch. I was told it would be shipped by 1/31/12 in email. Last email on 2/21/12 I was told it would be mid to end of March before being shipped. On 2/21/12 7pm I ordeded from Home Depot and it was shipped on 2/22/12 with tracking number. Also they do not allow negative
reviews on their Website. What a awful company. I can't fathom how many others they have strung along for 2-3 months for the transfer switch in which anyone can order from Home Depot and have in 2-3 days.

"Those guys remove or refuse to publish negative reviews on their website. I wrote negative review about B & S 5500 Watt generator pointing on discrepancies in their product description, manufacturer website and actual product with actual links and document references. I gave genset 2 out of 5 stars but review was never published.

This is very bad practice as they essentially hide negative information from customers.

"I purchased two separate items from Generatorsdirect.com. One was an extension cable for my Generac Portable generator which arrived on time and was as advertised on line, and I am satisfied with this product. The other item was a 3-pack of Generac oil filters; this is where the problem begins. I called Electricgeneratorsdirect.com to verify that these were the PROPER oil filters for my Generac portable generator before ordering on line. I got a rep named Chris who, after asking for and receiving the numbers from my original oil filter, verified that their advertised Generac oil filters were the proper ones for my Generac Portable generator. I ordered their 3-pack (model#: 1323-3). The oil filters arrived intact and on time. However, the numbers on the ACTUAL OIL Filters were different from the numbers on the filter that I have on my Generac Portable generator, and that Chris had verified. I called Generac, and was told that the oil filters that were sent to me were 3rd generation back; and I was NOT to use them. These oil filters were for older motors, and I would void my Generator Warranty if I used them. I called Electricgeneratorsdirect.com, and informed a rep named Steve of this problem, and for a solution. He did not get back to me as promised, so I called again. The rep at first insisted that the oil filters were the proper ones, but did issue me a RMA# to send them back for a refund... so far so good. Now a second problem developed; it was the shipping reimbursement to me. He refused to refund the initial shipping fees, and refused to reinburse my return shipping fees. His reasoning was that since I ordered them online that I was not entitled to shipping reimbursement, even after one of their own reps assured me that the oil filters were the proper ones for my generator PRIOR to me placing the order. I will keep the filters, because I would loose money in the shipping process. Moral is to be SURE of wht you order from Electricgeneratorsdirect.com. Remember, These were very OLD model Generac oil filters; NOT the NEW Model oil filters for the newer Generac Portable generators."
