Misleading information on Google

"Today I google membership for Costco and it said if you don't have a membership you can purchase merchandise. Well that is untrue. The cashier refused to sell me my item! Until I purchased a 65.00 membership. Noap didn't happen...So he took my item and kept it. "

costco online problems - patio furniture handled by 3rd party vendors and costco will not help if they arrive damaged or without parts

"I made the error of using the Costco online service. I didn't realize they didn't take responsibility for the things they sell on the website. I purchased an outdoor patio set made by RST Brand on March 10th. It was delivered on April 10th with a shattered top to the fire table. I purchased it specifically for my wife's memorial service we held at our home on April 14th. The shipping company blamed RST, saying most of the stuff shipped to them for delivery is broken or missing pieces. I called Costco and they told me "its an RST item and not a Costco problem, that's how it works". I called RST and have not had any luck getting the replacement piece for the table. Its April 18th and I am left with 6 huge boxes sitting on my patio. I didn't have comfortable seating for the older people who attended the memorial service. Worst of all during the worst and most challenging portion of my life, they have given me a part time job of trying to get the broken piece of the set to my house and assembled. Its heartless. I explained it to one Costco employee and she said "people die, not our problem... call RST and tell them about it".

April 18th - I called the delivery company today, they have contacted both Costco and RST several times and received no response from either. I called Costco and they said it is an outside vendor and they cant and wont do anything to help me (but she did wish me "good luck". I called RST and the women who answered (Jessica) said her records show the item was delivered without issue and showed no notes in my account. I have spent easily 3 hours on the phone with RST from April 10th to today.

Costco sells items online they don't stand behind, the companies who are third party vendors blame Costco and disappear and the delivery company is stuck being blamed for everything but are powerless to do anything.

I have called everyone... I don't know what to do. I would never buy using Costco online again. They have made the most difficult part of my life and time my family should have to grieve into a part time job of trying to get a patio set I paid for in early March.

Poor customer service

"Online order was placed on 3/28/18 for washer/dryer and refrigerator. Washer and dryer were delivered on 4/3, and refrigerator was scheduled for delivery on 4/9 after numerous calls to Costco.com for a status. I was told on 4/3 that I would have to call them back on 4/5 to find out when delivery would be made. On 4/5 I was told that the refrigerator would be delivered on 4/10, and carrier called to schedule delivery between 1:30 and 5 PM. I called Costco on 4/10 to find out why the delivery had not been made, and they informed me the delivery was scheduled for 4/11. No one bothered to follow up on my order and let me know that there was a problem. No one seems to even care enough to make a follow up phone call to the customer.
Never buy any appliances from Costco unless you are okay with waiting and never receiving any feedback on your order.

Rude checker

"I went to Costco with my family today and we ended up with a very full cart of items. We got in line and were checked out by an empty the name of Rey E. After our visit we looked at the receipt and saw that his operator ID# was 7. Why did we look? Rey turned out to be the rudest employee we have ever run across at Costco. The store was busy, as to be expected on a Sunday afternoon. Rey seemed to be in a hurry. He was processing our items very quickly. Our stuff started to back up and he kept pushing and shoving things through. I told him to please stop pushing so hard because he was crushing some of the delicate items. He DID NOT STOP! We were loading the cart all by ourselves. Normally there’s an employee there who helps to put things back into the cart, although that wasn’t the case today. He kept putting items through and I had to tell him again that he needed to slow down. It was almost as if he couldn’t hear me. Finally he was done, and everything was really backed up and he told me the total (+$600). I told him he was going to have to wait until we could get caught up before we would pay. He looked at us like we were inconveniencing him. Where exactly did he think the next person’s items were going to go?? There was NO room!! Needless to say, for all the thousands we spend there each year, it is a sad disappointment to have been treated like we did today. "

Discriminated against in online order

"Bought a 100 dollar iTunes gift card through my mother’s membership that lives in the same household. The money was taken out as it is not available to me for 3 business days (Costco can say all they want that they didn’t take it and it is just a hold. It is not available to be used by me so they took it). Discover card notifies through their app immediately that the money was taken. After an hour, Costco notified they are declining the sale. I called to find out why. The rude rep informed me that it’s because the membership has my moms name on it while the credit card had mine. Even though we have the same last name, even though we have same address on the dL, ie makes no difference. Wtf? What happened with it being a family membership? Why can’t every household member use it???

No choice of delivery options

"I recently ordered from Costco.com- Only one delivery option available-that is 2 day- for that you pay high delivery fee! Do not want membership or high delivery fee! Make longer delivery time available and cut down or eliminate fee!"

Recliner chairs

"I purchased two fabric rocker recliners. I sat on one in the store, it seemed great. I liked the appearance of the chair so I purchased two of them. The chairs are made in China, I don't know what they are outgasing, but the smell is toxic. They actually made me physically ill. I am very disappointed. I don't own a truck and making arrangements to return them will cost me $60. The experience of dealing with these smelly chairs was revolting."

Very Disappointed in Costco Customer Service

"Disappointed in Costco Customer Service
Very disappointed in Costco that they would not honor the price they printed in their Spring Savings catalog, exclusive online-only offers for March 5-30, 2018 for this product, which was $139.99. Their customer service was less than impressive and they stated the wrong price had been printed and they would not honor it. As I spoke with the customer service representative and then their supervisor concerning this issue they maintained their stand and stated they had been informed by corporate the price would not be honored. This was my first negative experience with Costco's customer service which is usually the bench mark for other companies in this area to work towards but they definitely dropped the ball in this case and they have lost a trusted member by their unreasonable stand on this issue.

AMERPRISE insurance through COSTCO - A RIP OFF

""AMERPRISE will bait you with LOW first year rates.. .."
Two years ago I went out and got five quotes on auto and home owners insurance.
COSTCO Ameriprise came in at 12% lower than all the others.. I thought GREAT since I love COSTCO.
Fast forward...ONE YEAR LATER... my renewal rates for all my AMERPRISE policies came in 14% higher!!!
What a surprise... they tricked me into signing with them and the only one year later my rates went through the roof.
I had not even submitted any claims.. they told me they were ALLOWED to raise their rates.\
I called and wrote letters - to no avail ...
PLUS it is a very impersonal service - TOMS RIVER , NJ

Worst delivery experience

"The refrigerator was supposed to be delivered on Thursday. No one called so I called them. It was not coming now till Saturday. They called Friday and said it would not be till the following Thursday. They called Wednesday and said it would not be till Saturday. All the while I was getting emails saying it was on the truck ready for delivery. They gave lame excuses: the truck broke down, because of the weather ( in Florida). Give me a break. I still do not have a refrigerator. After waiting this long I'm sure it will probably be damaged or something. Costco's delivery team is a joke. There is lousy and fraudulent communication. I would not advise anyone to purchase a major appliance from them. Disgraceful."

I wish ZERO stars was an option

"I went to the warehouse December 26th to look at the washer and dryer I wanted to order online from costco.ca. I want them to remove my old washer and dryer, so their "white glove" delivery was the best option. 10 business days is what is listed as the delivery time. About 20 BUSINESS DAYS LATER, an automated machine calls me Monday at 5pm saying that they will be delivering the product the very next morning. No one called me to schedule a delivery. I tried calling the number available online for the shipping service and that number keept ringing busy. I call the number that appeared on my cellphone, and they have no record of my order and inform me that they do not deliver to my town. I send an email to Costco customer service indicating that the number online just rings busy and and get a automated response indicating that they will respond within 48 hours, understandable since it's an email system. So I call Costco customer service and they tell me someone will get back to me in SEVEN days. So Tuesday morning a guy calls me telling me he is at my house with my order. I inform him that I am at work and I need to reschedule. He said that he could not reschedule me, a supervisor would have to call me. That night, no one has called me to reschedule. I go to the website and the phone number for the delivery service is different (I know this because I tried calling them 20 times and their number was stored on my cellphone with the number of attempts). So I call this new phone number. Someone picks up the phone and says someone will call me back. Wednesday, no one calls me back. Thursday morning I call the shippers again, same thing, someone will call me back. Thursday night, I call the shipper again, and am told that "the email for my local shipper was wrong so they did not get the first few emails the main location was sending them" I am told someone will call me back and a supervisor will handle this. Friday afternoon, Costco "email" customer service emails me wanting to know if I got in contact with the shippers. I calI to tell them no, no one has called me back, in fact no one has ever called me because no one called me to schedule the delivery. I am told that someone will get back to me on Monday. So it will be 25 business days before anyone even gets back to me. I do not understand why (1) the delivery guy, (2) the main delivery centre or (3) the costco customer service guy could not (1) give me the contact number for the delivery center so I could reschedule, or should I say schedule, the delivery or (2) reschedule/schedule the delivery on my behalf. Obviously this person who was supposed to schedule a delivery time in the first place does not now how to use a phone. Who puts a washer and dryer on a truck and doesn't arrange for someone to be there? When someone isn't there, who doesn't call to reschedule the delivery? Especially since I've been calling to schedule/reschedule for 4 days. So it's Sunday, and I called Costco to cancel my order. They told me I could refuse delivery when it arrives, which is funny because no one has called me to schedule a delivery. They said it would take about a week to figure everything out with the delivery people on their end. That's fine. I went to Lowes and my new washer and dryer is scheduled to be delivered in a few days."

New member disappointed

"Lamstein and southern boulevard Costco, Florida. Signed up as new members and felt totally pressured to upgrade to the $120.00 membership. Politely said “no thank you” several times only to be told, “well don’t you travel, need things for your home,” and generally made to feel like we were ignorant of the “deals” Costco could provide. When the final NO THANK YOU set in Leslie was noticeably irritated. She NEVER said thank you for choosing Costco or anything nice. Checkout was just as irritating as a young lady forcefully grabbed our cart after we had taken out the 2 items in it and said CART, then when we didn’t understand what she wanted raised her voice and said CART again. I said, “excuse us this is our first time here and told her there was no reason to be snippy,” to which she hatefully replied, “I’m NOT being snippy,” then made a duragatory remark to the male cashier. He then checked out 2 items and proceeded to give us the hard sell AGAIN on upgrading our membership. HR needs to school ALL employees on courtesy and when to recognize no is no and remind them they have a job because of the customers. Signed just wasted $60 because I’ll never go back!"
