"So I used this website about 10 years ago and ordered a few things. Their customer service was really good. The person I spoke with on the phone was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Now, 2015, I think they have gone downhill. I called them up with some questions on some lights, they guy took a while to pull up info from their computer. After that, he just read off the description. I didn't really get my question answered. I tried emailing them instead. Took a while, but I got 1-2 responses. I finally put in an order on some used lights. 10 days later, they never came, so I called them. The lady says the items were never in stock and asked me if I wanted to buy the new version of the item. WTF? You charge me $120 and never tell me my product isn't coming and want me to pay more for the new item? I usually like to give places (companies, restaurants, etc.) second chances, but I think I'm done w/ this one"

"Ordered DMX cables and was sent microphone cables. Also ordered several small DMX lights which were not able to do the color changing as described on the manufacturer's (them) site. Phil, the returns manager was extremely rude, and argued with me over the problem finally issuing me an RMA saying I can return them. Two days after the return I called to see where my refund was and was transferred between departments and finally told I was issued a credit. The credit wasn't even for the full amount because "Phil says there is nothing wrong with the products and charged you a 30% restocking fee". I then wrote them a letter outlining why I was entitled a refund and pointed out that at no time was I made aware of any restocking fees or their 'policy' to only give credit. I also pointed out that VISA requires that such policies be made in writing and presented to the customer PRIOR TO PURCHASE and if they didn't refund my money I would dispute the charges. They then issued me a refund less 10% so I still had to dispute things with my credit card company, who immediately credited my account citing past issues with the merchant and lack of following VISA's merchant policies.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! The products are poorly made, have lots of problems, and their customer service is horrible. They also appear to be overcharging for shipping costs.

"Horrible. Originally I bought up lights from this company, because the price was good. When they arrived there were cheap, cheap material, horrible light. They charged me for shipping and I had to pay for shipping for return. Even thought i didn't like the idea of paying for shipping I did anyways, because I was assured that I will not be charged for shipping on my exchange order, well that was incorrect, because they still charged me shipping on my exchange order. The exchange order, was also cheap everything, I ended up returning everything, loosing half of what I paid. Their customer service is horrible, it takes about 7 times to get to talk to the person that can actually help you. Will never deal with this company again. They are horrible."

"They should be called Cheap Broken Lights.com
I ordered lights. They arrived broken. I called for a replacement. They said I have to pay the shipping. I never had a company try to charge me for shipping back a broken product. I could see if the product broke months later and before the warranty period. But these arrived broken. The girl on the phone said she knows and agrees that is isnt fair, but there was nothing she could do. I m actually affraid to even ship them because I dont trust that they will replace the broken lights. I wish I read the reviews first. Dont buy From Cheap Broken Lights. Com
I usually buy from musicians friend, they are the best online company. I wish I bought my lights from them. Cheap BROKEN lights.com are crooks.

"Im in Colombia, I have bought a lot plate amps without problem. Sales department is friendly (Spanish-English), quick service. Usually I order through phone directly without troubles. Shipping fast to Miami, and the item correct. When they have b-stock items are correct and honest people."

"Bought a mic stand late last year and was double charged for it. Called the bank to dispute the charge, which was refunded.

Fast forward to yesterday, I go in to pick up some cables that I had bought on line- and had received a confirmation email from. The same lady who had emailed me had put my order on hold when I picked it up. She gave me some story about how they had caught the mistake and credited me back along with my bank. So long story (as dealing with these people is always a long story) short, I had supposedly "got one over on them" whereby I had the product and the money I had paid for it. In the meantime, I had closed the bank account that this particular sale had been made through. So I have no way to check their claims.

While I am discussing this issue with Gissele (the email lady) this youngish looking guy comes up and starts interjecting comments. He finally goes away and I offer to pay the $25. When I am brought my receipt to sign, I asked who the guy was and was informed that he was the owner.

The only thing that I have ever purchased from this company that has not given me problems are their cables. I will be avoiding any future business with this company

"I've been purchasing small items from this company for years. Recently purchased a fog machine that arrived defective. Was surprised to find they would not reimburse me for shipping of the item to exchange it. Even more surprised that they would not refund the item, only give store credit.

Yes, it's my responsibility for not reading the fine print. It's there responsibility for having poor customer service policies.

Wrote a formal complaint email and received a response that they stick by their policy. These types of business are a dying breed that don't adapt to the new business models.

I'll probably buy items from them that have no moving parts. other than that, I'll stick with eBay sellers where I know I'll always have great customer service and satisfaction guaranteed.

"Stay away from this company!" My problem was simple I was upset that I placed an order and paid for it only to get a phone call that the item was already sold. I was asked to buy the new one and pay full price, after the associate informed me it was their mistake. However when I got upset I was offered to split the difference. I decided I wanted to speak to a manager and was told one would call me back. A few days later I sent an email responding to my order being canceled asking again to speak to a manager. Didn't get a call back from a manager and only after another email did I get an email from "Ernesto Gongora, G.M" who informed me of some real gems (here are some direct quotes) "The managers are busy handling calls for customers who have legitimate problems and real issues or serious complaints"

"If we had managers call back every customer when we ran out of something we would loose all of the customers who legitimately required a call back for resolution of a problem that was truly critical as opposed to somebody who just wanted to argue for some insanely childish reason."

"As a child most learn this is not a perfect world an of course choose to take issue when they feel a serious injustice was done them but only a narcissistic individual would go on the way you have in demanding perfection in the name of customer service"

After that I don't know what more there is to say? "I suppose just keep it simple and stay away. You get what you pay for both in service and product. Would you believe that the item I was told was sold and is the start of this ordeal is still listed for sale on their website at this time. Wow!

"DO NOT order anything from this company! I bought many small things from them for a long time, but when i ordered a speaker from them they started scheating me from the start of that order. I ordered a 18" sub from them and a plate amp. the next day they call and sy they don't have that speaker but offer to sell me a cabnet and a sub to put together so i did it because i had no other option. I got the parts and put it together and used it 2 days later. the sub lasted for one 4 hour dance then the amp started crackeling so i sent it back (shipping i paid for everytime so far $125) They never even called me so a week later i call and ask about it, they said the amp is bad and they are out of them but hav a shipment coming in 3 weeks....long story short it has been 5 months and i still have no amp."

"We have spent a lot of money at cheap lights, but we will not be using them anymore. The man in charge was rude and condescending. They did not try and fix the problem and I ended up having to reorder the broken piece and pay almost the same price for shipping to get it in time. They said they would make sure I got my money back once fed-ex came and picked up the damaged material. (another thing I had to do myself) I called them to get my money back for the claim which again they were condescending and rude. They had a whatever attitude and didn't make anything right. They had no problem taking my money and had no problem putting all the blame on fed-ex and the manufacturer. We have spent thousands of dollars with them and they wouldn't hold to their word regarding fixing the problem. I am out over 380 dollars that they won't make right even though they said that if I got fed ex to pick up the broken piece they would reimburst me for the other charges. (when I had to reorder the piece of trussing to make our show deadline) They sell cheap stuff for cheap. Apparently the money you spend doesn't go toward customer service."

"Cheaplights.com is my primary source of lighting equipment. I buy lights for 1) lighting up bands for concerts 2) DJ-ing high school / church youth group dances 3) stage lights for school / church. These guys 98% of the time beat the competition on price. Often it's the same as a "name brand" lighting fixture you buy from a retail outlet for much, much less. I just bought a slew of par-56 cans and paid about half what anyone else would charge. They now accept orders over the web, but if you call, you'll find they are very friendly people to deal with and will do what it takes to make the customer happy. Shipping can seem a bit high, but the stuff they're selling is both bulky and heavy. If you can ship to a commercial address rather than home, it'll save you a few bucks too.

A couple of things to note: they often have a "bargain page" with refurb items, scratch-and-dent, etc. I've bought many of these and always been happy. Call and ask the sales rep - they'll tell you anything you want to know about these items, including if they still have it! The other thing is the inventory churn. Products they have this week, they may not have next week. The upside is there's constantly new products being added, but the downside is items are discontinued all the time.

I heartily recommend cheaplights.com / high energy lighting!
