"I got a simple voice/text plan for a recent trip to the UK and France. The phone, with a single number usable in both countries, came well in advance of my trip date. When I needed to move my trip date up, Cello Customer Support on a weekend moved up the activation date accordingly. Phone service was flawless throughout the trip."

"We decided to rent the Cello Mobile Wi-Fi hotpot for our trip to Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Slovenia. We took the Unlimited Pro package as we knew we'd be using Wi-Fi a fair bit as we were driving from country to country. It worked pretty well for parts of it. I say only partially because as soon as we left any city and were driving on the roads between the towns the connection would often fail. Frustrating because we were using it so we could use our GPS apps on our phone and when it failed it was worrisome. Fortunately the car we rented had a mediocre GPS so that supplemented when needed.

The other really frustrating part was that it said on the device that after 1gb of use per day the data would slow down. This I believe was NOT written on the website (or maybe only in the fine print). This was frustrating to find out once we received the device. Lastly, it would be working and then all of a sudden stop. A quick reset would do the trick but this was still a bit annoying.

Other than those things we were relatively happy with the device. I may next time try just getting a local sim card for our phones and add a cheap plan and then hotspot when required but that may end up to be more costly when you have multiple devices."

"This was the first time that we used this service. We traveled around the British Virgin Islands on a sailboat July 2017. There is an important first step (that Cello advises you about) before you may begin using the service. That is, upon arrival we searched for an available network - we used Digicel. We found the coverage both on the water and in the anchorages to be excellent and did not go anyplace where we did not have adequate coverage. I am aware that there are many open WiFi networks in the BVI, but you use them at your own risk. Conversely, the Cello hotspot is password protected.

We added the text and phone option when we placed our order. However, we really did not need this. Instead, we enabled Wifi calling on our Android phones and used them instead. So you may be able to save some money on that. Also, be aware that charges for OUTgoing calls were including without limitation for us. However, INcoming calls will incur charges. (I probably overlooked this in their ordering information, but there is fair warning provided on one of the many stickers that Cello places on the device when they send it.) As a result, you may want to limit who you give the incoming phone number to unless you are comfortable with the per-minute incoming call charges. We did receive one or two spam calls on the number provided, so be aware that you will not be immune to this malicious activity.

Again, as per the Cello instrux, you need to enter a "+1" before the ten-digit number. This was really the only difference for us in how we normally communicate stateside.

I would recommend this service and would likely use it again.

As expected, we didn't have any signal in the more remote parts of the Highlands, but we also didn't have reliable internet at the local hotels in those areas.
