They charged us for their mistake

"We bought an item online. They shipped the wrong item. We asked for a exchange: out of stock. We asked for a refund: they agreed to a partial refund. Partial refund ??? It's your mistake !!! That should be illegal."

Incompetent management that can't figure out how to do internet retail

"Canadian Tire is an almost ubiquitous brick-and-mortar retailer in Canada. Every small town has one. But we live in an age of Amazon.ca - many of the things that cdn tire sells could be sold by Amazon or other online retailers. So maybe CanadianTire.ca should figure out this internet thing, right?

So here's a couple of stories. First, I order something from their online store, and select "in-store pickup". Canadian Tire hasn't figured out shipping yet the way Amazon has and they want to charge me $20 shipping. But that's ok - they have stores and I'm willing to go there and pick it up, right? When I get there, they're all out of the item I ordered. Here's the problem - canadiantire.ca will sell you an item based on the inventory of a brick-and-mortar store, but no one told the stores (incompetent management) that they need to send someone to grab the item and put it aside. So my item was gone. They sold it again after they sold it to me. That's ok, right? They'll just give me a refund, right? Wrong. The store manager (the manager) said that 1. he can't give me a refund because canadiantire.ca has a different computer system than their store and he couldn't issue a refund, and 2. if I want to get my money back, I should tell my credit card company to do a charge-back! A MANAGER OF A CANADIAN TIRE STORE TOLD ME TO DO THAT! Like what you do when someone cheats you or steals your credit card! Complete fraud. I could have called the police there and then and had them arrested had I been so inclined.

Second story - this is years later (in fact, just a day ago) and I order an item from canadiantire.ca. There's one item in stock at the store I order it from, so I order pick-up there. And then I wait for the email telling me to pick up my item. A day later, I get an email saying that my order has been cancelled because they're out of stock! Clearly no one told the store to set aside the item, and someone walked in the door and bought it.

The problem here is that Canadian Tire upper management don't get the internet and are hoping that it will just go away and stop bothering them. As long as people walk through the front door to buy snow shovels and cheap Supercycles they're happy. Amazon is a distant threat and surely they will weather the storm.

Don't be a part of this fraud. Canadiantire.ca is more a shareholder-placation effort than an actual online retailer. The store managers don't care and won't help and won't set your item aside and won't be fired for it. Just order it from Amazon and vote with your dollars.

Won't refund money

"I returned an appliance to the store less than 2 hours from when I purchased it.
The appliance did not work. They took it back, but they did refund my money.
They gave a card for use in the store. I want my money returned as I do not wish
to spend any money in their store and I should not be forced to do so.
They should not be allowed to sell junk that does not work and then force
you to buy something else from them.

Good store

"They have stores in every Canadian city, prices are ok, quality is adequate to the price. They often run sales, so if you are looking for an item, sign-up with the website and put a watch on that item, they will inform you when it goes on sale. Customer support is friendly and if you buy something on impulse and change your mind, and not use it, they take it back without question."

"Very bad shopping experience at 1711 Kenaston Blvd, Winnipeg Location!!!

Actually their staffs are Ok, but customer service managers' attitude were so bad, just leave the customer along at the customer service desk without resolving customer's problem.

Will never shopping at CRAPPYTIRE again!!!!!!
