"Called to order a Kraus sink and faucet combo. Sales person recommended I buy their "house brand" faucet, Miseno, in lieu of Kraus. I did; HUGE MISTAKE.
In two places of the product description it featured the "Snap Lock Docking" designed to keep the faucet head in place. THIS WAS (IS) A JOKE. Faucet did NOT have any "snap locking" quality whatsoever. Just he minor recoil of turning off running water would dislodge the head. When I called and complained, not only about the incredibly poor quality of the faucet but that I was also going to have to pay the plumber yet again to remove their crap and install something else, the build.com rep tried to UPSELL ME OTHER PRODUCTS. AMAZING!
A supervisor did call me after I wrote a scathing e-mail and offered me a $40 discount off a Kohler. Whoopee! I had to pay a plumber another $200 to come remove their junk and put in the replacement. The supervisor also said he would take my returned faucet and subject it to "quality control" tests, yet the e-mail I got told me to dispose of the faucet as "field scrap".

THISCOMPANY COST ME AN EXTRA $200 AND HALF A DAY OF WORK above and beyond what I paid for their defective equipment. Read reviews like this one and carefully consider before using them.

"Ordered several items over a month ago. Several days later, was informed that one item, which the website said was "In stock" and "Usually ships in 1-2 business days," was not in stock and would be shipped in 6 weeks. Couldn't cancel the order because needed the product to be keyed alike with deadbolts already shipped. Called Build.com to point out the error on the website and was told it was unusual and would be fixed, but in the month since my order the website has always said there were 6 to 10 of the item in stock. I'm also not happy that my credit card was charged on the day of my order, even though the 6-week delay was Build.com's error."

"I'd rate them 0 stars if I could, they screwed up my order pretty much every step of the way. First they cancel one item because it's no longer available, no big deal. Then they delay shipment on my tile twice even though their site continues to say there are over 9,000 sq. ft. in stock (I ordered 220), not a huge deal. Then they ship, but never provide tracking info, so I have to request it, minor inconvenience. They didn't give the shipper my contact info though, so they can't deliver - thankfully I called the shipper (3 days after it was supposed to be delivered), as Build.com couldn't tell em anything about what was going on with my order. Finally, order arrives, shorted by a full 1/3rd, only got 150 of 220 sq. ft. of tile, contractors are at my house to install. Numerous little mistakes that add up to one big headache, I've never had close to this many mistakes on an order."

"Disappointing experience. I wanted to buy 4 Baldwin lockets keyed alike and keyed to match my existing Baldwin front door lock. After some back and forth on email, I was told this was possible if I provided the key code from the original lock- which I sent to Build.com. I was then informed that the items were on back order...weeks. The original delivery date was pushed back two more times (weeks).

The last delivery date was scheduled for while I was out of town, so I asked for the package to be shipped to my builder rather than my home...but they sent it to the home anyway where it sat unnoticed for weeks (since no one was there).

When the builder finally found it and opened it - every one of the 4 locks was keyed differently - and none matched my front door.

I'll buy elsewhere in the future.

"Our remodeling company suggested that we look for our new bronze faucet on this site and sent us a couple of links. We found exactly what we were looking for in a quality product. Cheaper than a box store and a much better product without all the plastic.

"Build.com has gone downhill fast. They used to care about getting your order fast, correct, and unbroken. Returns used to be easy too. Not anymore though, they don't seem to care about their customers. I was told I would get an email for shipping a broken part back but it never came. No one will answer my emails and I will have to reverse the charges on my credit card."

"They are great on getting your product here, but one of the light fixtures had a cracked globe in it. I have contacted the company twice to try and get a new one, but have never received it. I have my house up for sale and the company doesn't seem to care about sending the globe out. Nobody does what they day they are going to do. I flip houses and will never use them again. There customer service is terrible. "

"I ordered a fan blade from build.com. The product I received was not the one pictured on the website. The employee I contacted via email was quick with a refund. However I was asked to review the product I ordered. I checked and it the error was still in place. I left a review stating such and build.com removed my review. So if you don't see any negative reviews...that's probably why."

"The first order I placed was great, everything shipped right away and the tracking info was sent regularly. This was important to me because the goods are going to my contractor who is rehabbing our home in another state.

The second order has been a nightmare. I ordered a shower system. The problem is two parts were coming from one warehouse and three parts came from another. If I had known that some of the parts were out of stock I would have cancelled the order or purchased a different item. I have now been waiting three weeks for parts and this is not a good situation when you are working on a timeline. Furthermore there is no update from customer service. I am the one who has to keep checking on the status of the parts and each day the information is different.
I finally contacted a service representative who informed me I should have an account representative who will follow up on my order and keep me informed of the status. He has now cancelled the original order and placed it with another warehouse, that had the parts in stock. Shouldn't this have been done originally. Who orders something and wants to wait a month for parts???? when they are sitting in another location,

The same situation occurred with my third order, there was a delay in shipping, although the lights were suppose to be in stock and I had to keep up with the tracking and delivery, no updates from Build.com. I have spent over $2000.00, and although I love the selection of goods, the customer service and delivery are lacking and I am not sure I would ever order from this company again.

"Ordered 4 bathroom lights: Two light bars and 2 sconces.Kept one light bar.The other bar had multiple,long horizontal scratches. The sconces were scratched or had marks on them. Sent those back and got 3 replacements. Now one light bar and one sconce was fine. Had to send the remaining sconce back for finish issues! Replacement sconce came. Still a little brown spot on the chrome. Gave up on LightingDirect. Kept the sconce. They said the remaining sconce was "field scrap" and to dispose of it as I wish.....What a headache!! I felt they were selling "seconds". No more business from me."

"In the future I will make all my lighting purchases from lighting direct. I bought a chandelier and pendant. I had a couple of professionals hang them for me as I can no longer climb a ladder. After the job was done and they were gone I noticed a chip out of one of the glass shades. I don't know if that happened during shipment or by the installers. I called lighting direct and explained what happened. I wanted to order a new glass shade and pay for it myself. They contacted the manufacturer and within a week a new glass shade arrived at my door. That shipment was expedited and I was not charged for the shade. Never can I remember such incredible customer service. If I need something they sell I will purchase it their first."

"Ordered and received Sterling shower ensemble. One wall section was damaged in shipment from Kohler. Sales rep ordered a replacement and kept in touch through the process. Poor luck prevailed as the replacement wall section was also damaged, when cast and packaged by Kohler. Build.com offered to order another replacement, but time would not allow for another 3 week delay. Now working through Kohler for repair. Build.com is an excellent company to order from and I highly recommend them. "
