"My husband and I cannot believe that we were so stupid. We were out on the town for our anniversary and fell into this den of thieves. These people are thieves. They mark prices on products in their store at 3 to 4 times the mfgs. suggested list price. To give a case in point: a Bower 0.38x high res macro lens super wide angle that is selling all over the internet for $89, they have with a price of $649 and they sold it to us for $340. A no name 512 mg digital picture card that should not sell for over $89, they have marked for over $200 and they sold it to us, they said, for $99, but when we saw our itemized bill, with no specifics like numbers or product names on it, they had charged us $149 for this. A camera bag that they told us they were giving us as a gift for our large purchase and to close their deal, was charged on our bill at $69.99 and it is a bag from China that you can buy for $15.
A Canon Powershot S1 IS has a ticket on the box marked $899, although you can find this camera for as little as $219. When we called these people the morning after out purchase and told them what we had found out: that they had charged us for merchandise they had promised to give us and overcharged on everything. They said they don't give back money but if we want a battery charger, they will send us one. I emailed and faxed them with proof of prices elsewhere and they have ignored me. When we entered their store, we honestly told them that we were not ready to buy as we hadn't done our home work on the type of digital camera, etc. that we wanted. We just wanted to look and get some ideas. We were literally overwhelmed by a crowd of salesmen, led by Tito, who kept saying that we should have a heart, they need money. He complained that his girl friend had already called three times and that her should have left, and that we were his last customer and that he was giving us great prices so he could go home, blah, blah, blah. I know, I know, we were so happy out on our anniversary that we ignored all the signs of con men and we bought, under duress, but we did buy from these people at least 3 times what we should have paid. How a store like this can stay in business, we cannot figure out. I guess most people are so embarrassed when they realize how badly they were taken, they just keep quiet about it. But my husband and I are determined to let everyone possible know about our terrible experience so that they will avoid this store at all costs.

"I'm from England and I was in search of a good price on a digital video camera, after checking prices in several midtown stores where my retailers tried to rip me off I discovered Broadway Computer, the sales staff was great and so were the prices, they had everything in stock, new not refurbished. I read the other reviews and seems that those people are just born to complain. Broadway Computer was the only store busy in times square all the other stores I walked into were empty and the sales staff stood around pacing like wolves in search of prey."

"These guys are straight-up crooks.

As an emergency measure on Christamas Eve I bought a DV camera from them for my son. Luckily, I had done quite a bit of research on the subject and knew what i wanted and how much to pay...nonetheless they still shook me down.

After hearing my requirement the guy tried to tell me I needed lenses that I didn't need and extra batteries that I didn't want. He told me that the camera I wanted cost 40% more than I know it is mostly sold at. (He finally came down to my price.)

I asked to get a sealed box but of the six Panasonic cameras they had in my model, all boxes were open.

The man then simply wouldn't listen to me that I didn't need an extra battery: when I got the box home sure enough there was no battery at all. On the Monday after Xmas I went in and said that they had sold me a camera without a battery. Another salesman tried then to give me an off-brand battery. I insisted that they give me a Panasonic battery: the man then said that Panasonic "didn't make batteries". I told him that Panasonic was one of the biggest battery manufacturers in the world and would they please stop lying to me and give me my battery.

The guy relented and said that that although the camera came with a one-hour battery, he would give me a two hour battery because I was "upset". I accepted, took it home and before opening the battery package, read the camera manual: the camera comes standard with a _four_ hour battery!

I went back again and after much polite inistence finally got the correct battery. God help me if I ever have to go back there again.

(Go to B&H. Pleasant they're not but they are basically on the level.)

"I needed a cellphone and went into this store. Explained that I wanted a tri-band phone so I could use it in Europe also and that I didn't want a real expensive one. They gave me a good deal $150 including 100 call minutes.

At the register they told me the total was $200.95 (there was a activation fee for the calling card of $35 added they didn't tell me about, and ofcourse tax). Ok, I payed the $200.95 and was walking away when another salesman said: "You still owe me $50". I went back and explained what the other sales man sold me and for what price. The other salesman said: "No, the phone was $250, not $150". I was with there with New York born and raised Patti and she was like: "Hey, I am from New York and you're not gonna rip us off! We're not gonna pay more or we'll return it and we want our money back!". The manager came and finally said: "Ok, they made a mistake, it's ok".

So you can get a good deal there, but make sure to know the right price and let the sales people make very clear what your total bill will be before you purchase anything (or make sure Patti is with you).

"If you want my adice do not go anywhere near this company. I visited New York from the UK and went in this store to buy a camera, They charged me $800 for a $400 camera, I found out about this before leaving NY and went back, They would not refund me the overcharging there and then in the store. I swapped the camera for another one and I had to pay extra. I then found out they had charged me $1350 for a $700 camera. I have wrote to them from the UK but as yet I have heard nothing. "

"When I was visiting NY city during the July 4th weekend, I stopped by this store to look at lenses for my 35mm camera and some of their electronics. I was approached by a salesman who inquired about the type of camera I was currently using, and he wanted to show me a really "nice" Fisheye lense that would attach to my existing zoom lense. He demonstrated how it worked and told me that it was regularly $699, but they were selling for $299!! Wow, what an incredible deal, right? Well, instead of walking away right then, I tried to change the subject and told him that I was also interested in Digital Video Cameras. He was more than happy to show me a very nice JVC digital camera (model # GR-D30U). When I asked him about the price, he told me the camera was regularly $799, but he would be willing to give to me for $699. At that point I should have known better, but when I hesitated he said he would give me the camera, the lense and case for the camera, a couple of DV tapes and roll of film for $899.99!! Well, that's a really great deal... right? I told him I would take it, so they wrapped it all up for me and sent me on my way. When I got back to the hotel room, I should have known something was up when I realized that all the items that I had purchased, had the price tags removed and the receipt has in big bold-faced letters...no refunds. They must take them off when they ring up your purchase. Well, me and my wife went to the fireworks that evening and while we were waiting for them to start I was reading one of the local papers and there was an ad for another electronics store in the Times Square that was selling the same video camera for $399!! You cannot even imagine how I felt at this moment. I paid an additional $300 for mine and it was the exact same model, plus when I returned home, I found the exact same lense on eBay for $79!!! On Tuesday, I called the store from my office in VA and spoke with one of the managers. He told me that they would reimburse me the difference on the camera, from what the JVC website listed and what I paid. Well, to my surprise they listed the price for the camera at $531.00 and the camera lense at $299.99. All the items that they "threw in" with the camera...they also listed those on the receipt, so in other words I paid for those items...the were not free!!! I paid $977.62 for a $349 camera, a $79 fisheye lense, $20 worth of DV tapes, a $5.00 roll of film and a $24.99 camcorder case. In case your wondering that's a difference of about $500. I got quite a deal, didn't I? Oh yeah, to their credit they did give me a call and let me that they would reimburse me $81 for the difference on the camera and taxes. Please heed my warning... STAY AWAY from this store, unless you like getting scammed out of your hard earned money!!!"

"Ordered 2 times from Broadway Computer. Prices and shipping were fine, until I had to deal with them regarding a return. I returned one of the item for refund and the item was delivered 6 weeks ago. Never heard from them!!! I wrote them an e-mail; no response. I finally called and they decided to give me a refund on my return after 6 weeks!!! If you don't plan to return your itmes then Broadway Computer might be fine; but if you decide to return items then expect to do some extra work for your money back."
