Bad experience

"All went smoothly until the order arrived with the wrong battery! I had a one week week rental and by the time I got the rental battery three days had gone. One month later, I am still waiting the refund. And when they sent me the correct battery, they sent me another camera as well. Nobody responds to email and when I finally got through to someone in customer service he told me that Billing would address my refund immediately. Still waiting 10 days later."

WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS

"Made an online reservation rental for a camera, lens and flash mount with accessories for a wedding I was photographing 30 days in advance. They emailed me at midnight the day before to tell me that instead of my package arriving 9/7 it would arriving 9/8 (day of the wedding) because the previous renter had damaged the items.

When I called they did refund me, but obviously seemed to care less about my now problem they caused and offered no solution or support. I was left completely stranded and I was very hopeful to use this company more in the future. Literally don’t waste your time and money this business is worthless on reliability and if you need it for something important, rent elsewhere.

Didn't matter it didn't arrive on time

"I'm disappointed in this company and their process to get lenses to customers. I paid to rent a lens that started (and should have arrived) on the 24th, but it did not. I called them and the woman on the phone just read me the UPS tracking information. She then said that she can change the delivery to 'return to sender' and refund me, but I won't be refunded until they receive the lens back. They took the funds out of my account the day it was given to UPS, which means they are holding onto my money, for something I didn't receive, from the time they dropped it off until whenever they get the lens back. the woman then just told me to have a nice day. she didn't acknowledge the inconvenience and disappointment this caused. Thankfully, I was using this lens for fun and not business. I wouldn't suggest using this site. I've used lensrental and had a much better experience."

No customer support. Tickets are ignored without response.

"My lens rental was not delivered on time. UPS fault. I missed a scheduled photo session. I tried to contact customer support as I had no use for this delayed rental and I keep getting ticket numbers and no responses. The company is just ignoring their customers at this point. Had no problems before so it looks like this business is going down the drain in the past year or so. "

Horrible Experience

"The company suddenly cancelled my order without notice, leaving me with no gear for an important event. The wait time was 2 hours and they had no answers other than system error. I spent over 20 hours on wait total just to find out they refused to help in any way. They offered a pathetic 100.00 credit toward future rentals but you can’t even get them on the phone to claim it. LensRentals apparently is picking up their pathetic slack and immediately got the gear I needed out for the next event. LensRentals all the way. "

Talking to my attorney

"Horrible experience. DO NOT rent from here.
Reserved a camera body for an important shoot.
Called. After 45 minutes hold was told the camera is being sent as ordered. Was also told I was going to get an email. NO email.
Called the next day. Another 45 minutes on hold.
The rep said the camera was being shipped for next day delivery.
NO CAMERA. NO CORRESPONDENCE.
Have never dealt with such a crooked place.
I am talking to an attorney for breach of contract.

Huge lack of responsibility and professionalism

"DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! A week ago I rented some equipment from BorrowLenses for a very important job in New York, I was flying from Florida and needed the equipment to be delivered to the hotel. I spoke with BL over the phone a couple of times to confirm that everything was ok. Even received an email from the company the day before of the delivery date stating that the order was verified. Then, the day that the equipment was supposed to be delivered, I received another email from BL canceling the order due to a system problem, leaving me with no time to solve or react with other company, I called all of the other rental companies and none was able to provide me with the equipment on time. I had to buy part of the equipment, spending much more and blowing the budget I quoted the client for equipment hire.
Huge lack of professionalism and responsibility.

They try and get you at the last minute

"I ordered a 30 day rental on 10/15. 4 days before I am supposed to receive the equipment I get an email demanding a $500 deposit. This should have been something that was discussed at the time the order was received and not 4 days before I need the equipment - but I guess they figure they have you over the barrel so close to the date you requested the equipment.
Fortunately I do not need the equipment for another few weeks and just wanted it early to get used to it.
But heads up - THEY WILL HOLD YOU OBER A BARREL AT THE LAST MINUTE.

Huge Waste of Time and Money

"I wouldn't wish this rental experience on anyone.

I was working on an ethnographic film and desperately needed a DSLR camera to work with last minute. I was excited to find BorrowLenses and thought their prices were fairly reasonable.

The camera I was sent was faulty and did not support video recording, even with an SD card inserted. I notified them, and returned the equipment early. They were "not able to confirm the issues [I] experienced" so instead of refunding me fully, they gave me the early return refund. However, their lease agreement is shady and ambiguous. They're also deducting 25% from the damage waiver fee, which was added separately from the camera rental.

The entire process has taken nearly 3 weeks. Their customer service is slow and lacking. They do not provide details without being asked explicitly and try to shoo you away as quickly as possible.

I will never rent from them again, I do not recommend their services to anyone, and I am very disappointed in the experience as a whole.

I wish I had read into the reviews about them and taken them more seriously before choosing them over another company.

Faulty lens , Ruined costly shoot and incredibly poor service

"I rented a 200 to 600 mm sony lens to photograph Wildlife on an expensive trip away to Yellowstone. Was able to capture an image I have been trying to get for 10 years. Heart broken when the images were not sharp.
Used the lens as designed and none of the images were sharp. Ran tests on the lens in perfect inside conditions on all modes and non were sharp. I sent the images to them as requested. I was told I would hear back quickly. After a week or so , I followed up and was told I would hear back the next day at the latest. Another 5 days went by and no response. I called again and was told I would definitely hear back that day. Surprise, no call again. I called then another 5 days later and was told I would receive a call. I received an email stating their technicians had performed tests and there was nothing wrong with the lens. I have been a pro for many years and both myself and another pro ran all possible tests and no image was sharp. The lens was faulty to which they deny, have not provided any supporting evidence and took them 2 weeks to tell me. I could not be more disappointed.

Scratch on lens, ruined pictures

"Iron tilt-shift lens it arrived on time but after reviewing all of my outdoor photos at the end of a two-day I noticed a tiny scratch on the lens which made a glare in all my photos. I contact them ask about it and make sure I wouldn't be blamed for the scratch. I was hoping for some sort of credit, refund or at least an apology after two emails I never received any correspondence back. "

"Had an issue with used gear not arriving in proper condition (tech issue, not something they could have noticed), but their customer service team was great. I suggest calling (not email), but the team seems friendly and eager to help find solutions. "

Avoid these incompetent company, or it'll cost you money!

"This was my first and last experience with this disreputable company.

Ordered a camera and lens for a photoshoot several says ahead of time. They shipped the order UPS but failed to give the correct delivery date. I saw from the initial tracking number that they made a mistake, wrote them immediately telling them about it, and...nothing. No reply. The delivery date comes and goes with no delivery, or reply. I had to cancel studio time, and a paid model, costing me $350 in cancellation fees. When I finally got someone from the company later via chat, all I got was a "Sorry" and the lame offer of another day of rental. I'd already lost a day, PLUS $350 so this was of zero help. They tried to blame UPS, and refused to do anything more than reverse the delivery and refund my money.

So, doing business with this company has cost me $350, and I have nothing to show for it. BorrowedLenses.com is a bunch of incompetent jerks as far as I'm concerned.
