***-***-**** magazine $10 coupon fraud!

" During the holidays I signed up for 3 months free subscription to magazines. And I was promised a $10 off coupon to books a million. I never received this coupon. Plus I was mysteriously charged $14.95 with no warning or heads up. I didn't know my debit account had been taken for this purpose. I find this to be a huge security breach on bam's part. Highly misleading. Disappointing. I'll be going to Barnes and noble from here on out. This is the number to call in regards to $ being taken from my account ***-***-****. I'm not looking forward to dealing with this on that end. Hixson, TN Books A Million store location. "

Absolutely awful

"Book took a week to arrive. When it came, the cover had been slashed with a box cutter and barely hanging on. It took customer service over a day to respond to my email. Their response was for me to print out a label, and find something to ship it back in before they assess a refund or replacement, which will take another week or two to get my book. Terrible experience, would just use Amazon if I wasn't given a BAM gift card for Christmas."

Horrible Purchase & Customer Service Experience

"Purchased a gift card (on-line) on June 10, 2017. Gift card was mailed from Florence, AL to Oakland, TN. Could make the drive there in one day. We were going to give gift card to niece for her birthday on June 16th. No card that day. Spoke twice with rep on Chat and once with rep on phone. All times was told there was no way to track the card since it was sent USPS standard shipping and to expect the card in 8-10 business days. Really? From AL to TN? Not like we are shipping from AL to CA.

Finally called Customer service (again) on June 24. Still no card. Told her the card had not arrived and at this point didn't want the card anymore. Please credit the amount back to credit card used. The rep was not sympathetic to the situation. Didn't try right what was wrong (perhaps offer to send another card via Priority Mail) and she had the personality of a doorknob.

Will never do business with them again.

scam and no customer service

"I purchased 20 pokemon packs and a book via the website. I received 2 packs out of 20, both opened and the book was damaged. I had to file a chargeback because their customer service refused to refund claiming that their warehouse stated all items were in there. I responded saying if that was the case, they needed to file an insurance claim. The law states a business must deliver goods as advertised. They refused to help. "

Membership is a scam

"Some interesting merchandise, but everything is overpriced.

I purchased a membership online to get a discount on several hard-to-find items. Two months later, my order was cancelled since those items apparently weren't in-stock as they had claimed. When I tried to get a refund for my (now useless) membership, they just said "no" since it was past 30 days. I sure am feeling scammed by this company!

Where is my book? Where is my money?

"It is more than a week I am waiting for my book to be shipped (just shipped!). I called them many times and sent them several emails without answering. I tried to cancel the order but rejected and the reason is "pending". I want my money or the book, or at least get a reply to my calls and emails, very simple. Never try them! "

Beware of the membership

"Please be very very careful giving these ppl your debit or credit card information, I'll explain:
If they ask you during an in store purchase to sign up for a membership to receive coupons etc... say NO!!! They'll give your credit/debit card info that you used during this purchase (probably by making you sign something during the purchase knowing you don't have time to read all!) to different magazines and they'll start charging you all kind of crazy subscriptions you'll not even see these magazines in your mailbox ! This is the last time they'll ever see me again.

Books-a-Million takes your money. Does not ship book. No wonder they have a million books!

"Ordered a book on Sept 8, 2016. It has been "pending" for over 2 weeks. Chat line is no help - they can't tell me where it is or why it has not shipped.

Horrible Customer Service

"I placed an order with BAM on 6/10. I choose Express shipping and paid extra ($16 instead of $5) so I would have my package in 3-4 days. I understand that it was a Friday, however there was no clear wording that stated it still wouldn't be shipped until 6-14. I have called customer care about this issue, and the lady who answered the phone was unable to tell me anything other than it "should" ship by tomorrow. I requested to speak to a manger, and after waiting on hold, that was dead air, for about 1-1 1/2 minuets of silence, Leanne is the person who came on the line. She was also unable to tell resolve any kind of issue, and further more, made no attempt to rectify the issue and no attempt to calm me down. No apology was made, I was told I needed to calm down and she would help me if I would be respectful. To that I said I wasn't being dis-respective, but I feel like I am being screw over by BAM, she continued to tell me to not use that language with her, or she would not help me. Again, I wasn't cussing at her or anything, but whatever. Then she told me that my package was being sent from the manufacturer, Crosley. I said ok, then where is that located, she couldn't answer. I asked when I should expect my package then, she stated "should be by Friday" ... seriously?! "should be"?! That is not a very clear answer from a manager who is trying to assist a customer. She was in no way helpful, in no way nice, and in no way attempted to change the situation around. This person has now made my experience horrible. This is the first time I have ever ordered from BAM, and most likely the last. The issue with the shipping ****, and I could deal with that, however your customer service people on the phones have turned this into an even worse situation now. "

Buyer Beware! Books-A-Million is the worst!

"I would begin with the positives were there any. This company does not stand behind the quality of their product. They are unconcerned with customer satisfaction. Their only real concern is money. I am certain they are only in business to capitalize on the unsuspecting first time customer who isn't aware of BAM's crooked underhanded dealings.

I purchased an ebook which is only accessible via the BAM reader app which, in my case, isn't universally compatible with the textbook I purchased from them. Customer service was happy to inform me that under no circumstance does Books-A-Million give refunds. "The book is not compatible with your app", I tell the customer service manager. She replied, "I'm sorry about that, but I am not able to refund your money because we clearly state it on the website that under no circumstance do we give refunds". "But that means, you don't have to honor any sale, because you stated it on your website you're not obliged to provide me anything". "How is that fair business practice?". "But you got the book, she replied". Yes, a book I cannot use because it's incompatible with the software you provided to access it". I finally stopped chasing my tail and abandoned my argument with her. It was obvious that if i wanted any form of recourse I would have to pursue it through other channels.

To surmmise, do not waste your money at this website.

Books a million is not worth a penny = Horrible experience, never again

"I tried to purchase the ever so popular and hard to come by Pie Face board game for my daughter. Believe it or not of all places Booksamillion.com had it available but alerted me they would be mailing it out end of January, which I thought OK I might as well. Well January came and gone and still no Pie Face arrives at my house nor did I hear from them AT ALL. I even tried to cancel my order more than once and their website alerted me that I was not permitted to cancel my order, ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Then I contacted their customer service dept., only to get a response many days later AND STILL NO CANCELLATION as I had requested and complained about. Yet all of a sudden my money is taken from my account today and they are now mailing out my game in February. After all this I don't even want the game. I could've received it much faster and with way better customer service representation by ToysRUs. I'm very annoyed, and will never shop with them ever again. The entire experience was beyond ridiculous, and poorly handled. "

"ORDERED A BOOK IN NOV FOR XMAS PRESENT DELIVERY DATE DEC 11. NO EMAIL FROM COMPANY STATING IT WOULD BE LATE. NO EMAIL STATING THEY WOULD NOT SEND IT AT ALL. SENT AN EMAIL AFTER PURCHASING SAME BOOK FROM AMAZON WHICH ARRIVED IN 2 DAYS RIGHT BEFORE XMAS THANK YOU AMAZON FOR KEEPING YOUR PROMISE. I SENT BAM AN EMAIL WITH MY COMPLAINT JAN 7 THEY LATER SENT AN AUTOMATED EMAIL STATING THEY WOULD REPLY BACK I RE ENTERED MY ORDER NUMBER TODAY TO ASK IF THEY WOULD RESOLVE ISSUE AND THEY HAVE OFFICIALLY CLOSED THE ORDER WITH NO EXPLANATION OR APOLOGY. "I will never shop at this place EVER again. I will let my situation known to everyone I know and post it all over social media of what has happened to me and various others I have spoken with. Back in May I went to Books-A-Million in the mall I worked at and I bought a book. As I was checking out, the cashier told me about the magazine subscriptions and how we get a "free" 2 month trial. I said NO, because I knew how that worked out. Well, the man ended up getting me to subscribe for the FREE trial because it wasn't going to hand out my debit info or anything, so whatever no problem. He also notified me that I would receive a "warning e-mail" of when I was about to start being charged. Welp, it's September now and I NEVER received my warning, and this month because of that UNAUTHORIZED $17.50 purchase, my account has been over-drafted. Not having the funds to cover the UNAUTHORIZED purchase, I've been hit with two other overdraft fees, and now my account is at $ -115. So I'm super happy about that--not really!!! May I add that this ***-***-**** number has NO option for a refund AND to cancel you have to subscribe to something else for $2?! Kidding me. I'm cancelling my card due to such fraudulence and never going back. I hope they go out of business."

"I felt cheated by this company. They tell you to buy the membership card and then finally you end up paying 25$ plus tax for that card and you don't get any benefits unless you go to shop and buy. I feel the rates of books are higher than other shops. I feel the customer service is the worst. Very rude, not at all friendly. They speak as if we are at their mercy. Pathetic service! "
