"Below is an email I just sent to Stan Epperley, Web Sales/Product Specialist for Battery Mart, concerning the purchase of a HiTECH power cord style smart charger for 9v lithium-ion batteries that has shown consistently a serious defect. My experience with Stan on the phone was not very pleasant. He seemed defensive and dismissive of my claims. In a future review I will let you know of the outcome. Hopefully I can give BatteryMart a five star review then. I was happy with them before this last purchase.

I spoke to you over the phone regarding a defective HiTECH charger, a replacement showing the same problem as the one I originally purchased from BatteryMart. Since I did not feel the conversation was over the phone was clear, I have written below, hopefully very clearly, what the problem seems to be and the kind of resolution I would like. Please read.

The unit I am returning is a replacement for the one I bought originally. This unit has the exact same problem as the one before, namely, it does not fully charge the batteries. Although the charger shows full charge (green light), when the battery is inserted in the Shure Wireless Bodypack Transmitter, the charge indicator in the transmitter shows only a 2/3 charge.

I own another HiTECH charger. It’s the same but Plug-in style. This charger works perfectly well. When the same batteries are charged with this charger, and then inserted into the microphone transmitter, the charge meter shows 100% charge (3/3).

This leads me to conclude that there is a manufacturing defect with the power cord model charger. Two units showing the exact same defect is an indication of something more than just a fluke.

Each time I return the defective unit, it costs me $9.00, which you will not reimburse. That means I have spent $18 over what I originally paid for the unit.

I am sure you understand why I don’t want to take the risk of receiving another unit with the same defect. Therefore, since the Plug-In model has worked like a charm, I ask that you, please, consider replacing the defective unit with a 2 bay HiTECH Plug-In style smart charger (for 9v lithium-ion batteries), and reimburse me the difference in price.

Please, inform the manufacturer that the model in question (HiTECH power cord style smart charger for 9v lithium-ion batteries), has a serious defect.
