Never again

"Why are these guys still in business? It's unbelievable how dishonest they are. I ordered a book for college class with 2 day delivery that turned into a couple of weeks with no way to cancel or refund (spent some time arguing with them to no avail). Just avoid these guys. Hope they go out of business soon."

B N doesnot keep its delivery dates

"I ordered a book for Christmas on December 2 and they said it woulr be delivered Dec 21. It is now the 24th and the book is still in NJ. I think 19 days is enough time to have them ship me a book.Sorry B N i am done. Ron from Mpls."

Horrible website, worse customer service!

"Tried ordering 6 books online today. Got to checkout and it kept looping. Told me my last name was missing even after I repeatedly typed it and was staring at it in on my order. Finally called customer service. The man on the phone was very condescending and kept me on hold almost 20 minutes looking at my order. Turns out they were out of stock on 3 of the 6 books! No mention of that anywhere on the website when I was trying to place the order. An hour and a half wasted. Very frustrating-will NEVER order from them again. "

Not good

"Bought a used book through Barnes and Noble. It said the book was in good acceptable condition. No, it wasn't. Torn book cover, magic marker all over the book cover and back cover. Really nasty. I reached out several times and no one ever got back to me. I wouldn't buy from these people. Better business bureau."

DO NOT PAY FOR EXPRESS SHIPPING

"Made a purchase online as a gift for my grandmother, paid for express shipping (made purchase on 09/01) as her birthday is 09/06. Express shipping is labeled “2-3 business days”. I think, ok, that’s fine, it’ll arrive well before then. Nope. Check my order status and it says “delivery date 09/09”, so I call costumer service to see if there was a mistake made, and no, no mistake. Apparently they neglect to tell you that the processing time is NOT included in that 2-3 days, so in reality, they can process my order for six days, then apply the “2-3 days shipping”. I guess they really meant that literally, but boy will I not be buying online from B&N ever again. Paid extra for standard shipping labeled as express shipping? Such a scummy move. Give your customers what they pay for. "

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NO HELP

"I ordered a book online, a half hour later they emailed me and told me the delivery will be delayed by 19 days. I went to cancel my order since Amazon could have it to me in 2 days. They told me the order was too far along. 1 hour after I ordered it and with a 19 day delay it is too far along? I DON’T THINK SO!! They refused to cancel my order, now I have to get the book, pay for it, and either send it back or return it to the store for a refund. VERY INCONVENIENT. Once they knew it was delayed they should give you the option to cancel the order, instead they double down and keep your money. I will now buy all my books through Amazon."

"I am an Author, I have sold my books all over the world and I love Barns and Noble. But the local store in Cheyenne is rude. Their snooty attitudes are in such. I am thinking about no longer doing business with any B&N. I am an award winning Author but they wouldn't know that. If you are the owner fire the staff on Del-range. They don't deserve their jobs. Most of all hurt your bottom line. "

bad service

"i order a package the 20th, and i looked at the shipping prices and i paid for the three day shipping cuz it told me i get it on Friday, and Saturday came and still no package. so i called up and the guy told me i would get it on Monday. i told he i paid the three day shipping and he said yes and they didn't ship my package out till 22nd, and i should get it Monday he said that it depends when they shipping the package out then the three days start. i told him then next time i shouldn't pay for the fast shipping since it wouldn't get to us faster and he said yes tats right ma, i told him that is faults advertisement. and he said yes..i will never get a book from them again."

Damaged items = less money Back

"I recently purchased 2 Funko Pop SDCC exclusives from B&N in the mail, upon opening the package, both of the boxes to these limited collectors items were badly damaged, the items being limited are no longer in stock, so instead of getting a full refund for damaged items i chose to keep after an hour on the phone with customer service they offer me $5 per item when both items are $14.99 each, i asked why is my refund so minimal, reply was "well your keeping some kind of item sir" smfh, again these are limited collectors items so basically i get to keep 2 items that are now extremely decreased in value from the damage, and i got less money back then what i paid, i encourage anyone to not shop with these thieves, even paid for 2day express shipping and didn't get it till 4 days later. I for one will NEVER shop with them ever again. Even Wal-Mart will replace the item and issue a full refund, and if they can't replace it they tell you to keep it and still get your money back, sad to say Wal-Mart has better customer service then you. #****&N"

Preorder Nightmare

"I preordered a product in Feb as a guest but my card expired before the product came out. When I was unable to update the info or cancel the order, I reasonably assumed they would simply could it themselves without sending it to me. They sent it and then started emailing me about payment. After I went through the phone tree to no avail and then their text service ignored my problem to direct me back to the phone tree and I had to specifically ask for a way to contact an actual person, I just had to pay for a product before I could return it even though by any good business practice I shouldn't have received it in the first place!

I would not recommend ordering online from them ever and they will certainly never get my business again.

"I accidentally ordered the wrong book, within seconds I tried to cancel. Its impossible i was told by customer service, all i can do is not pick it up and wait 5 days for them to cancel it. I'll shop Amazon for now on."

"Ordered a graduation gift on 6/3. Graduation is 6/24. No delivery. They can't cancel- too late- they can guarantee by the 28th- not helpful. This site is a poorly run joke of an operation- DO NOT USE THIS SITE- it **** big time"

You're better off using Amazon

" I usually order all my books from Amazon. I decided to give Barnes & Noble a shot figuring it might be a better or at least equivalent supplier. I ordered one book on April 5. The next day I checked B&N.com and the order was marked as shipped on April 5. I found this a little strange since I had not received a "Shipped" email from B&N with a tracking number, a standard procedure followed by Amazon. After a few days I contacted B&N and it was then I learned the book was being sold through a reseller. Not really a big deal in my view, but I specifically remember the B&N web site stating the order was being fulfilled by B&N.com, not a reseller. I then contacted the reseller and asked for the tracking number. A few emails later I was told the book had been shipped on April 11 (6 days after B&N indicated it had shipped) and they would "try to find the slip" with the tracking number. I did eventually get the book.
Today (May 7) I received an email from B&N asking that I assess the reseller and B&N provided a link to the web page. I clicked on the link and it did not work. Also according the B&N.com, I have no orders placed in the last 6 months so can not leave a review.
I don't know whether the error in the shipping date and lack of a tracking number is an issue with B&N or the reseller. If B&N has no way of ensuring timely shipment of orders or doesn't somehow track their resellers' shipping, that's Strike 1 for B&N. If B&N sends me a link to review a reseller and the link doesn't work 8 hours later - Strike 2. The fact that B&N can't tell me that I placed an order 30 days ago because somehow they've lost track - Strike 3.
Sorry B&N , you failed miserably both in customer satisfaction and expectation setting.
