Do not buy.

"I hadn't heard anything good about Boxx but I still wanted to give them a try. Boy do I regret this decision. I was shipped a machine that I'm fairly certain had a bad processor problem from the beginning. I just kept working on it because I was really busy, doing most of my 3D work on the machine I was trying to replace. Eventually the boxx just started having all kinds of problems in which left me forced to contact tech support. They didn't fix anything, confirmed my suspicions on the processor, and whatever they did I now have to disconnect all USB drives from the computer everytime I have to restart. Which is about 3-4 times a day. This has cost so much time and money for me at this point that I could have bought something far superior and not had to deal with any of it. "

Fast Specs, Inept Technical Support

"I'm an IT professional with 20 years experience. I've supported Boxx hardware for the last 5 years or so, with mixed results.

Some of my clients are attracted to liquid cooled overclocked speed machines. For CAD and BIM, I recommend stability (Xeon, ECC RAM, and Quadro graphics) over raw speed (overclocked i7 and GTX graphics). I don't care how fast my computer is, if it has a higher likelihood of crashing, making math errors, or lacking software specific drivers, it's not for me.

Other than a mild dislike for their overclocked offering and seemingly high pricing, I didn't have a strong opinion about Boxx...
...Until we had to deal with their tech support.

One of my clients recently insisted on buying Boxx laptops, against my recommendation.

Sadly, all four laptops have obnoxious WiFi issues. When the laptop wakes from sleep, the WiFi doesn't work, and has to be turned off and back on again before it will re-connect.

Boxx support has been shockingly inept.

- They claimed that they couldn't troubleshoot WiFi problems remotely because they would be booted off the computer when WiFi was off. I had to explain that we could connect the laptops to ethernet for them to troubleshoot.

- They had us replace the laptop network interface cards, with our own labor, even though we were pretty sure these identical symptoms on all four laptops pointed pretty clearly a software problem.

- They multiple-times attempted to close our ticket as resolved, with no actual resolution in sight, nor any tangible progress.

- They finally got a laptop of their own that exhibits the same symptoms so they could stop disrupting the users to troubleshoot.

- After troubleshooting lead to no change, they claimed that it's an issue with Windows and we need to wait for Microsoft to fix it. For the last month, Microsoft has made clear that this isn't something they're working on and there's no timeline for a fix or report of any progress made.

- Today we got an email from Kevin H*****, Customer Support Manager, ****@****:
I would like to take a moment of your time to confirm that your BOXX Support "Incident:
Description: Network issues
was closed to your satisfaction."

Ummm... no it wasn't. We aren't even close to satisfied, as you haven't fixed anything yet. But we are giving up on Boxx tech support.

If they're not even attempting to support their own hardware, I as an IT provider have to either recommend my client put up with crappy WiFi on these new laptops, or we can try to return them and go buy a ThinkPad like we should have done the first time.

Horrible customer support, ok computers.

"I wish there could be another computer company who would cater to the architectural and engineering industry as it's a real need. I thought Boxx would be the company but they are not. I bought a computer that never start's up properly and so it's a challenge getting it to update and boot back on. It's always doing a computer restore which is troubling. I tried calling customer support but I was given the run around and then no one would return my phone calls or email back. Months later when the computer did not even boot back on at all and a few month beyond the warranty period, I really had to call them again. After may explanations they finally decided it was their fault for not returning my phone calls and fixed only part of the problem because yes, they have know problem as a known issue. They only half way fixed the problem and they taken no responsibility for this known issue. It still has problems booting and updating. The time spent on chasing after them, getting the computer fixed and the worry I feel every day was not worth it. Perhaps they know they can get away with it. Something about the company strikes me as dishonest... seedy."

"Don't think to buy ... because really bad customer support ... our TV channel buy 4 workstations year ago...but now when i want to updates my bios firmware .. i can't ... because when i enter serial number on boxx website .. they say .. no online support available contact your reseller ..

Come on i just want drivers ... even third class brand gives you drivers instantly & free ... But i dono boxx people live in old ages ... hi boxx support its computer & internet age ...being fed up of there poor support ...

I try Phoenix Bios maker ... Wow .. they gave me another surprise ... You have to pay 30$ for their biosagent plus in order to get bios firmware ... i need baldy so i pay ... then again another surprise .. you submit a request then you will get it after how many days i donno ..

So I check HP site ... u just enter model number & all drivers are there .. instant & free ...

"Just wanted to give Boxx a review.

My company purchased a Boxx 8109 (the first non-Dell) last month for me, and I must say it is the best computer that I have ever received from a company. It is a 100% quality product using nothing but the best parts.

The sales people were very friendly and they even take the time to talk to you about what you need and they even worked in a small discount for me.

I will absolutely purchase from Boxx again. If you can’t or don’t want to build a computer for yourself then this is the next best thing.
