"I purchased a SONY DVD Recorder from this company. When I opened the box, I was shocked to find that it was not in its original packaging. The foam pads that were to surround the unit inside the box were just thrown in the box, allowing the unit to shift around in the box during shipping! Also, it was NOT a US unit and was NOT new. The cabling was scotch taped in used plastic bags. DO NOT buy anything from this company!!! They are obviously out for the quick buck. Do NOT trust them!!!"

"I ordered 3 transparent blue CoolMax computer cables and an LED fan. They sent me a solid blue poor quality generic SATA cable. I returned it and they sent me a transparent poor quality generic SATA cable in an off-color IMAC blue. I'm happy with all of the other items I ordered. However, I wasn't thrilled with the wrong item being initially sent and the generic SATA cable sent as a replacement. Oh well, it does work but these guy are NOT NewEgg for sure. "Well...found them on www.pricewatch.com and decided to go against my instint...Bought a Ge4 ti4800 and the site said they were in stock...noticed that my bank account had lost some money as was to be suspected...decided to check ateck.com...it said they were processing...well...came back the next day and it said that the transaction failed because it was out of stock (by the way..the website still says they have it)....so i am out my money until they decide to refund me...and i am still out a card...would not buy from them again...or at least check if its in stock by calling."

"I was weary about ordering through Ateck after reading the other comments, but they had a really great price on some Corsair 512MB PC3500 memory. I even called them to confirm that it was in stock before I placed the order. I was told by one of the Asian guys mentioned below that yes, it was.

After I placed the order, I received an e-mail later that day saying (guess what?) yep, they were out of stock on the item. This was on July 2, 2003. I told them to keep the order open and that I would wait.

Today, 2 weeks later and still no stock, I sent an e-mail to cancel the order since I purchased my RAM elsewhere. Lo and behold, to my surprise, Ateck charged my credit card $158 on July 2nd -- even though the item was out of stock!

I sent them another e-mail venting my disapproval. I have never heard of a company that charges you for items they don't even have in stock! They are supposed to charge when the item ships! I will stick with NewEgg.com from here on out. Not only do they not charge you until it ships, you can't even order an item that's out of stock, so no false promises.

Stay away from Ateck. Stick with NewEgg.

On a lighter note: I would like to add that "Dan" at Ateck was always courteous and apologetic. He always responded to my e-mails within the same day."

"Purchased an ASUS A7N8X motherboard. Ordered on Monday, arrived Thursday of the same week (holiday on Friday, so I was pleasantly surprised). Confirmation emails, along with tracking information was timely.

Reasonable prices with prompt shipping is always a plus in my opinion. Was a smooth transaction with no defects, so I can't comment on customer service.

"3 words, BAIT AND SWITCH
I attempted to purchase a Built by ATI 9700 Pro OEM.
I received a 9700.
I called Them up to complain and I can only talk to the President who is always out of the office.
Finally I get to talk to an RMA guy after filling out the RMA form. He tries to convince me that it is the correct card because they dont make mistakes, they double check everything. Nevermind a 275 clock on the core.
Then he tries to convince me that it is a good card and I should keep it. After I scoff at that idea I basically wouldnt let him off the phone until they accepted charges for shipping back. I hadnt even suggested bringing the credit card company into it.
They agreed to take it back and after testing it would send me the new card.
After they had it for 3 days without contacting me I call them. Find out they no longer sell the OEM card and wonder if I would give them 60 more bucks for the retail version which I could get for 20 less at Best Buy.
I told them to go fly a kite and that I would being looking elsewhere for a Video Card.

They gave me a total refund including shipping.
I am still frustrated though. I still dont have a Vid card, but more so becaause they wanted me to keep the cheaper knock off or buy the retail for 60 bucks more."

"Mixed about this company. They have good prices, but only fair service, which is still a good combination compared to the scams out there. I have ordered 2-3 times from this company. They seem fairly dependable, but my last experience turned me off a bit from them. Bought a GForce4Ti4200 from them. The pricewatch add said w/ TVout, I think their website to. Since it was the same branded (MSI/eVGA) Ti4200 that I had bought before, I did not print out the add. When I got the card it only had VGA out. The other vendor was only 5-10 more with DVI and TVout, making this more expensive. I send a complaint in with print-outs of the pricewatch saying it had DVI, sadly they had changed their website. I ask for the correct card I had ordered via phone and email and was put off. Email and Faxes were never answered. I sold the card on eBay. So be wary about this company. Could be a service nightmare.

I'm trying them again, so I hope I don't get into trouble. :) Will post more here on my next experiences and I'm printing out both their add and pricewatch this time."
