"Ugh, my family will never shop here again.

My wife picked up some maternity clothes from this store online after visiting a retail location and not finding what she wanted in-store. Since she was unable to try on the clothes from online, being a pregnant woman and all (you know, the one and only demographic for this store), she ordered a few different sizes of things, thinking she would return the ones that didn't fit to the store.

That didn't work. The return policy for this store is utterly anti-consumer. Want to return the items you bought online to a retail location? Store credit only. This is particularly stinging for us since we are returning the clothes due to losing the pregnancy, so we don't exactly have a need for $350 worth of maternity store credit, nor a desire to spend much time thinking about the return process.

The other option is to return via mail, for a full refund (minus the shipping, which comes out of my pocket). Ok, fine, I do this with Amazon all the time, although they typically foot the bill, being consumer friendly and all. I thought I'd be able to get a return invoice, and/or a shipping label, slap it on the box, return to my nearest postal service within 90 days. Nope.

The policy here is 45 days (quite short), items MUST be shipping by USPS (not near my home, not open at hours I can easily access), and despite having my full order info, I must hand-fill in a PDF with every item from my order. There are 14 items on my order, and 4 boxes in which to fill in my order history. Not only that, there are 6 columns to fill out per item, including a "Reason Code", which they do not define how to fill in.

So, I will need to print 3 forms, fill them all out by hand with a ton of item info, go to a shipping location that I hate dealing with (my local USPS is terrible), and then wait for my refund.

There are so many gotchas and loopholes in this process that it seems designed to take advantage of a market that would be highly likely to return items due to them not fitting (again, PREGNANT WOMEN ARE THEIR ONLY MARKET) - they are either locked in to having to spend at their store, or go through an arbitrarily difficult return policy.

Never again. Unfortunately the company that owns this website has a virtual monopoly on maternity clothing (they own Motherhood, Destination Maternity, A Pea in the Pod, and Edamame), so it will not be easy to avoid them or their products. But, we will find a way out of principle.
