"I ordered 2 refurbished Panasonic cordless phones for $285 each. Website said that they were in stock. This was the lowest price I saw anywher.
I received an e-mail confirmation with an order number. The next day, they called me and told me that they didn't have them but I could buy the "like new" versions for $520 each. Bait and switch. I told them no and sent an e-mail complaining. They called again and said that after testing the units, they were no good. Maybe they should have tested before they offered the goods for sale? They said that they tried to source them elsewhere but the prices were higher. Well, yes. That's why I bought from them. They had the lowest price.
I worked for software and hardware firms for 20 years. If we promised a customer a product, we delivered. Even if it meant we had to upgrade them and eat the cost, or pay air delivery to get the parts we needed.
This is classic bait and switch. Offer a product you don't have at a low price and then try to get the customer to buy the more expensive one."
