Won’t deal here again

"I had a 10 am. appointment, it was 12:25 when I left the store. My glasses were supposed to be in in 10 to 14 days. It took 23 days for them to get them. I have to get new glasses every year and they normally run around $370, this pair,just like the old ones were $545 ? I gave them 1 star because they were so clean."

No respect for customers or Front line workers

"I am a front line worker, during COVID 19. I was late with my eye exam by quite a while. I am also a mother of 2, wife, owner of pets, daughter, etc. Any mother knows her needs always come last. I missed my eye exam. I never received any reminder cards, EVER. I am doing good keeping track of kids and dogs medical appointments. Keeping track of school and sporting schedules. I forgot to go, period. I am in need on contacts and they REFUSED to fill my prescription. I told them as soon as they open back up I would schedule an exam. They said no. I asked if they could just send me a month or two until businesses open back up. NO. I explained that I work in healthcare I have to drive to work, therefore I have to see. NO. Arthur was polite until I told him that I would be contacting the news. His response was " oh yeah, do that. I'd like to be on (the news). He proceeded to hang up on me. Complete disrespect and totally unprofessional. I have been a customer for well over 10 years, more like 15 or 20. Absolute shame to be treated this way. No respect for those in need. No wonder they have such a poor star rating with terrible reviews. Shame on America's "WORST"."

Unhappy Customer

"I went to Americas best here in Denton Tx. on University Dr. I took a prescription that my eye doctor had given me. At America's Best, I picked out the frames gave them the prescription and they told me that they would be back in 2 weeks. Because of the Pandemic I couldn't go in to try them on so they mailed them to me. I tried them on and they fit good. They were light and comfortable. But there was a problem. Everytime I put them on the lens popped out at the top of the glassed. I would push it back in and it would pop out when I put them on. I decided to take them back to the store. I gave them to a lady that came to the door. I couldn't go on because of precautions with the virus. She said that she could fix them, that it wouldn't take long and that she would bring them right back. She gave them back to me but when I put them on the same thing happened. I ended up going back 3 times. The manager, David came to the door and I told him what the problem was so he took the glasses and said he could fix them. A few minutes later he gave them back to me and said that they were fixed and that I wouldn't have that problem again. When I looked at the glasses, he had tried to glue them to keep them in place and he had put some sticky paper at the top of the lens to keep it in place. The lens stull popped out. I had to go back a 4th time and I told them that I didn't want a temporary fix. I had paid for those glasses and I wanted them done right. They then decided to keep them so that they could send them back to have them repaired. The problem was that the lens was not big enough for the frames. There was a gap at the top between the lens and the frame. So...from that experience, I was not very happy especially when the manager did what he did.

THEY DOUBLE CHARGE CLIENTS

"DO NOT ORDER FROM AMERICAS BESTPAIR/DISCOUNT GLASSES!! I placed an order online on March 17 for 2 pairs of glasses. I was charged for them on the 17th and AGAIN on the 26th! When I reached out to them via email they simply replied "sorry we don't see that on our end." Even though I provided my bank statement that clearly showed a second charge the day the glasses were shipped. They are stealing from their customers and could care less about it. I further looked into it and it's not the first time it's happened, I was definitely NOT the first person to be double charged/over charged by this company. Save your coins go elsewhere."

"Discretion was wrong at to go to another place to get a prescription went back to have them re check said nothing change could see through the glasses glasses were cheap and fake went to another eye doctor made the glasses correct customer service is very poor I would just never visit this place again"

NEVER AGAIN AMERICA’S BEST (WORST). STOP STEALING PEOPLE’S MONEY.

"They will tell you $69.00 for two pairs and free exam, Ha Ha. I had to pay $715.00 for two pairs of lousy, junky glasses. The glasses did not feel right so I went to the store to get them fixed. What they did is made me feel like I am stupid and I don’t know what a pair of glasses should feel like. Mike has the worst attitude for a customer service. I went there six times they refused to take any responsibility for their mistake. The GM (wanted to just "manage" me), told me the glasses are fine, if I wear them all the time it will be fine. I felt like, I will throw up. Could not keep them on very long, I tried. I had to go to a different doctor and get a pair of glasses for $400.00. They just want your money. Horrible service. My $715.00 down the drain. NEVER AGAIN AMERICA’S BEST (WORST). STOP STEALING PEOPLE’S MONEY.

"Nightmare and worst customer services
My wife and I went to America’s Best Contact & Eyeglasses at 9225 SW Hall Blvd, Tigard, OR 97223 to have new prescription eyeglasses on our appointment at 3 pm on 12/6/2019
We fill up the paperwork, we did the necessary test and exam we choose the frames and everything went good until we reach home.
I received a phone call from the worker who handled our order “Cheney” telling me that our order been canceled once they know that Lines Club will not cover the price that they are looking for and we have to pay few hundreds of dollars the difference in the price or choose another eyeglasses cheaper quality and cheaper price.
I asked the worker to take the issue to her manager she refused saying that she is a member of the management and when I request from her to escalate the issue to her manager then she hangs up the phone on me.
I called back and spoke to her manager but the manager once she knows that we are low income and Lines Club will pay for our eyeglasses she discriminates us forcing us to pay hundreds of dollars for the price difference or get the cheap quality that did not meet our requirement. (We are looking for any simple cheap rimless eyeglasses but they make them not available for low-income people coming through Lines Club).
The manager invited me to go back to the store so she can work with me and explain the issue.
Immediately I went back to the store to find out that the manager just left. She invited me to the store but she lies and once she knows I am on my way she left the store just to give me a more hard time that’s because I am low income and some nonprofit organizations will pay for our eyeglasses.
At the store, I spoke with the female worker that hangs up on me but she threatens me to kick me out of the store if I will keep talking. And ether I chose another cheap eyeglass or leave the store.
When they need the new business from Lines Club they offer variety of a large number of eyeglasses to let customers choose from but after they got that business they will take advantage of the customers who come from Lines Club and limited their choices buy few numbers of eyeglasses and they discriminate the low-income people knowing that they can’t pay for eyeglasses.
I had my worst experience with their customer service. This was a nightmare and horrible management ever I tried.
I hope the top management will investigate this issue and make the right decision about firing the responsible for this issue.

Don't be fooled by the free exam deal

"Do not be fooled by the 2 for $69.99 deal. They do not disclose hidden fees. Complete SCAM!!
I made my appointment for glasses n contact exam and. When I went in I was asked if I was doing the $69.99 deal I said yes. No mention of additional charges. After my exam I was told I could not get the deal because I got the contact fitting exam. My exam only was now $89 with no glasses. If I wanted glasses they would be $59.99 for cheapest ones each. So my $69.99 deal I came in on would now be $208.98!!! I even offered to pay the difference of contact exam and was told I still couldn't get 2 for 1 deal on glasses. Complete rip off!!!!

Bad customer service

"I have nothing good to say about this place, specifically the one in Winter garden, Fl. The worst customer service, the man who adjusts the frames is the toughest and worst person to be in that position. The answers to our questions were rude and without respect !! Very bad experience, both me and my husband and my whole family will not return to that place. It is sad that the opinion of a place is damaged by the behavior of a single employee..."

America's best Bate-and-Switch

"I went to the store at the 205 location, had a quick look around and talked to the Ia receptionist. She couldn't tell me what a pair of glasses would approximately cost me but she did say an exam was $50. I left and thought about it.

The place I was going to go for an exam was going to charge $70 so I thought $50 was a good deal and even if I didn't end up getting glasses there I could take my prescription elsewhere. I didn't really like the person I talked to in the store so I called a different store, the one downtown, to make an appointment for an eye exam and they verified the $50 price.

I showed up, checked in, and was taken to a room in the back. A woman collected a bunch of information from me and was about to start some preliminary testing before the doctor saw me when she suddenly went into a sales pitch - for an additional $20 I could have a full eye exam. What is that, I thought. When I book the appointment I didn't think I was booking some partial eye exam. I felt annoyed but I was there so I did it. I spent $70 on a $50 eye exam.

I saw the doctor and that was fine. They sent me back out front to look at frames and said someone would be with me in a few minutes. I'm looking at the frames and they are all really flimsy and cheap. I knew I could get better quality from for the same money at the Renald's outlet or Costco. I knew right then I was probably not going to be buying any of these unless they quoted me a REALLY cheap price in which case maybe I would get some sunglasses or something. Nobody ever came looking for me so I went looking for them. I inquired about the pricing and she started in with "It all depends" blablabla. It turns out that they have a complicated pricing chart where everything is al la carte. You want anti-glare - there's an upcharge for that, you want scratch-resistant - there's an upcharge for that. They have three levels of progressive lenses. Ones that have big blurry spots, ones with medium size blurry spots and normal ones. All at different prices. I'm surprised they didn't charge for hinge screws. This isn't the first time I've bought glasses and it isn't usually like this. At Costco, they say the lenses you need are going to cost X so add X to the price tag of any frame and that's the price. (anti-scratch and anti-glare included). At Ranald’s Outlet, they're all $250. For some reason at Americas Best, they can't even give me a ballpark?

This is a predatory marketing strategy that prays on people of low income. It's like Pay Day Loans or Spirit Airlines. Getting people in the door by advertising low prices. Then nickeled and died them into paying full price for some sub-standard garbage.

So I tell her I'm not interested in getting any glasses. I paid $70 for the exam and she wished me a good day. BUT wait a second- what about the prescription? She says "oh you want to have a copy of the prescription?" She goes to another counter and returned with two pink pieces of paper with numbers written on them. No explanation of there meaning so I have to ask why there are two. One for progressives and the other is for reading or bifocals. I guess I was just supposed to know.

She diapers into the back and I start to head for the door. Then I realized, I didn't get a receipt for the card transaction . . . I had to chase that down too.

My experience at Millville, NJ store

"The staff at America's best was very, very rude! I have never encountered such rudeness as I did today just to buy to a pair of glasses. The staff got smart with me when I was trying to explain to them my glasses were scratch and could they explain why that a 1 year old pair of glasses were so scratched up when I purchased scratch guard on them. The only answer I got was I don't know they are not my glasses. The rude staff member said this 3 times. I never got an answer! I proceeded out of the store and went to lens crafters. I don't have to send my hard earned money to be treated so rudely!!! America's Best needs to invest in customer service training for the staff. I will make sure I tell everyone I know not to go to the Millville, Nj store!!!

"This was an inconvenient experience the customer service is not great I was called to be informed my glasses were ready for pick up I drove there to pick them up someone messed up when putting the order in and put the wrong prescription strength now I’m waiting again for the order a second time!"

"If you value your eyesight please go somewhere else. They only think of the bottom line of making money and not the impotence of the health of your eyes.... I will gave information in future posts! Ridiculous company that is not concerned with the well fair of your eyes, that is very apparent and disconcerting

Low Quality Lenses

"I bought two pairs of progressive glasses from AmericasBest. One pair of sunglasses (Digivue Elite) and one pair of day to day glasses (DigiVue Advanced). I was told I could not get Digivue Elite for my day to day glasses without paying extra for special lenses... I wore them for a week and found the quality of the field of view to be terrible. With my day to day glasses, I could not even read text on my phone without drastically moving my head to keep the text in focus. Something I Do Not Have To Do Now, with my current pair of progressives! The sunglasses, which are supposed to be even better than my day to day were even WORSE. I can barely read my phone, and to make matters worse, driving with them was dangerous since I could barely read anything on my dashboard without completely taking my eyes off the road to look directly at it! Needless to say, I returned both pairs despite the fact that I had to eat the $50 charge for the exam. Something that I also find offensive. If your product doesn't work, I should get a full refund. Either get the product right or refund all the money.
Please save yourself the time and money and spend a little extra on glasses. I learned my lesson.
