"Airfare.com might be trying to do something useful; but they have terrible customer service, are highly unfriendly and unhelpful, and from my experience it is not impossible they are a profiteering scam (e.g. they let me book my wife's ticket at a decent price but then refused to book mine unless I paid $500 more than I had, seconds before, booked my wife's at). I've traveled internationally many times, and will avoid airfare.com like the plague. And unless you want the plague, so should you."

"AVOID!!! Stay away from Airfare.com, they are one of the worst companies I had to ever deal with. If you have to make a change to a ticket, good luck with their customer service, which is the worst. They will hang the phone up on you, put you on hold forever or tell you to call back to a non-existent manager. STAY AWAY.... They should be put out of business. They hide behind there pretty website to cover up the scams... Buyer Beware! Don't do it to save a hundred bucks, not worth it..."

"On Jan.29,2011 I bought a pair of tkts to Tokyo,Japan for Apr. 1, 2011 from Airfare.com. On 3/11/01, the Tsunami/earthquake hit. On 3/15/11 I faxed a request to cancel the trip after govt. travelers advisories warned against nonessential travel to Tokyo and northern Japan. I called their customer service # and was advised to fax and email that to airfare.com stating that I understood my tickets were non-refundable. I only had one request to make which was that they mail, fax or email me a letter stating that my ticket was non-refundable, indicate the amount of the ticket in $ so I could submit my claim thru my Travel Insurance provider. That was it. I wasn't even asking for my money back, or to rebook the ticket. As a matter of fact, I reviewed my reservation that I had, which was booked by airfare on Air Canada and it shows on Air Canada's reservation system that they are 'refunding' the money to AirFare.com. As of 3/23/11 I've not heard back from anyone at Airfare.com, nor have I received the correspondence I requested. I'm assuming they are just keeping the $$. We do at least two international trips per year and my close circle of friends travel overseas a lot and I've recommended Do not use AIRFARE.COM ever!!!Worst customer service experience I've had in 24 years of international travel."

"This company is a scam. They are absolutely revolting in their tactics. They sell tickets they don't have for artificially low prices and then tell you a week later that the flight has been canceled when the flight is absolutely still scheduled.

Unbelievably bad customer service, and clearly a scam.

"On Dec 27th, 2010. I purchased a ticket that according to airfare.com was "highly discounted" , a week later the same itinerary on the same site was US$200 less.I emailed them hoping to exchange for the lower price, but did not get the courtesy of a response.I would still purchase it from them , all that I wanted was the lower price that everyone else can get TODAY.Judging by other complaints here , I wil get a copy and paste response. Please, learn from my $200 lesson.Take your business elsewhere. The irony is that they got me once and I will never buy anything from them, again. And I will keep on telling as many people as I can . How can you remain in business treating your customers like that ? "

"Be wary. The chances of you getting a refund or modifying a ticket are slim to none. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and worked with their customer services, but nothing became of it.

They send you an email after you've purchased a ticket stating that essentially states you're SOL. If you try calling expect to be on hold for a while and to not accomplish anything.

"I ordered a round-trip ticket from Springfield, MO USA (SGF) to Istanbul, Turkey (IST) on 12/15/10. The departure was for 12/29/10 and the return flight was for 3/16/11. After reviewing the confirmation email (while I\'m buying another tickets to my friends from my credit card , i thought that the company have a good deals and told my friends about it), I discovered that the date of departure is not what i ordered, it was 01/29/10 instead of 12/29/10. If the change was for couple days ago or couple days later, it would not be problem however 1 month later which the date i never been interested is not good for me at all. I tried to reach Airfare customer service many times by phone and email prior to my departure, the customer service did not allow the issue to be resolved until now.(Of course they were rude and even told me that \"it is your problem!!\" I have paid $785 for this ticket. Since I don\'t have long time to solve this problem i probably will buy another ticket and my money is gonna be trashed! Of course i will dispute it and try to get my money which i didn\'t get any kind of service yet! I also have another problem now about my friends ticket is on the right date for now but they are asking me to send them more information by fax and by my hand writings..which they didnt ask me before..as i read from the previous comments it is not a good idea but not sending is not a good idea neither cause they will charge more and more.. I saw that there are company asnwers to all complaints and 99% of them are copy/paste :("

"I am very upset about the customer service the Airfare.com provided. First of all, let me describe you my situation with this travel agent. In mid July, I booked a round trip from San Francisco to Hong Kong ( Layover in Vancouver). The flight was canceled by the airline company and I was involuntarily offered an alternative flight which departs in 12 hours later than my original booking. The reschedule dose not satisfied with my need and I requested a refund.

I spoke more than 4 times with the airfare.com agents and they weren't sure how to do. All they told me is filling out a change form, which there isn't an option I can request a full refund. I spoke to the airline directly and the I was confirmed due to airline change, I am entitled to get a full refund, which the airline also agree.


I called back to the airfare.com change department and the lady gave me a bad customer service- She doesn't listen to my explanation and she said she's following up with me. After another day, she confirmed that I am able to get my refund but airfare.com will need to charge me 100 cancellation fee.


With no choices, I agreed to pay the 100 USD cancellation fee. And it is not the end of my nightmare. Since I submitted my cancellation form on August 9th, as of today, August 23rd, I still not received my refund. I have been calling the airfare.com and their representative keeps telling me to wait up to 2-4 weeks for the refund. If I still don't get it after 4 weeks, call them back.


I am not sure why the cancellation process is taking so long and seems it is very inefficient and inconvenient. I'll never purchase any fare with this travel agent again I promise.


Also, If you can, please follow up and let me know when I can receive my refund.

"I bought airfare from this company thinking it would be painless, simple and of course cheap. I even bought traveler's insurance just to be on the safe side. Well, that didn't happen. I missed my flight due to the long line at JFK's Delta Terminal and after waiting 2 hours in line to book another flight as well as calling Aifare.com to straighten this out, I was stuck in JFK for nearly 24 hours.

Apparently, Airfare.com buys bulk tickets, which I was told by the Delta employee that this is illegal. Even though airfaire.com rebooked my flight for a later time, Delta wouldn't reconfirm it because of legal issues. What a hassle. And inconvenience. So, I lost a lot of sleep and money for that matter.

"Beware of booking flights on Airfare.com. They may have great deals, but they offer no service and continuously give you the runaround with no straightforward answers. Before booking on Airfare.com, I checked out many online review sites to see if this company was legit. I'm always very wary of booking big trips on sites I have never heard of. The reviews were more on the negative side, but a few were positive. I decided to go through with my booking and now I realize it was a huge mistake. When you call the numbers they have available, you can't reach anyone in their actual office - not even during office hours! At one point I reached an India call center, another point I reached a European call center. They have no solid rules/ regulations for what you can do with your flight and everyone I spoke to was extremely rude. I just called to understand my options - not even to ask for a refund and they still couldn't give me a straight answer to the easy questions I had. I simply asked the following:

1) What is the cost for cancellation?
2) Is it possible to make changes to this flight?
3) What are you doing for flights going into Bangkok if the political situation worsens – since we’re in a state of emergency? Are there any options for these flights?

I was told that they couldn’t give me an answer about my travel situation until I filled out a form. When I checked the forms on the site that they were referring to, the forms were only for if you were ready to make a change or cancellation. I’m bewildered at the fact that they can’t even answer the questions above. At one point, the man asked me if he can get off the phone since he had another phone call. After going through such a nightmare with this company, I checked their rating on the Better Business Bureau and they have the worst rating possible, a “F”. I wish I can go back in time and pay extra to book with someone else.

"One word: CROOKS. I bought tickets to India via airfare.com. Since we had our 6 month old daughter travelling with me, I booked the tickets, way in advance. Everything seemed fine until AirIndia cancelled the flight and waitlisted me and my family on another flight almost a day before my original schedule. I called the airlines who agreed to give me a full refund and asked me to contact the travel agent. The customer service of airfare.com turned out to be absolutely rude and they hung up a few times, even yelled "..you got a good deal, what are you complaining about ?" before hanging up on me. After about 25 calls, I was able to reach "Rex" who charged my CC $200 as "cancellation fees" for a guaranteed "Full refund" for flight tickets, which were cancelled by the airlines. Knowing that is the only way to atleast get some money, I agreed. The full refund was MINUS the agent fees !!! Airfare.com had charged me for booking the flight and then for cancelling the tickets for a flight, that airlines had cancelled. It was an absolute nightmare which costed me $ 375 for NOTHING. I would ask anybody and everybody to stay away from airfare.com."

"Terrible tactics (bait and switch) terrible customer service! They charged us nearly double what we agreed to pay and then refused to refund the money without paying a $30 per ticket fee. "Customer Service" (I use the term loosely) was rude, unhelpful, and hung up on me 5 times! Nearly impossible to get to a 'supervisor' who was just as useless as the rest of the department. Terrible experience! I wish I had done my research before getting involved with these scam artists!"
