I knew from my earlier research that they were a Supermicro shop that had good prices and a close relationship with the server manufacturer and I assumed that was the best place to get the parts I needed in the shortest amount of time. I was not wrong. The parts I needed were not the common off the shelf everyday parts, because I needed a specific power supply for a server and specific Micron-brand memory. Everything was shipped within a day and arrived within 4 days.
Packaging may not be important to many people, but to me it's important to have everything arrive in a good and working condition. I must say that I haven't seen better and stronger packaging in years. The cardboard box was very sturdy and the way everything was carefully placed inside, tells you that people who care did the actual packaging. Overall great first time buy and I would definitely buy from Acme Micro Systems again. "

"The item arrived in a timely fashion. Unfortunately it would not fit into computer case where I had wanted it installed.
A small item, $13.00 plus $6.00 shipping. I requested an RMA and the reply was that I wasn't eligible because I had ordered it in July; wrong! I ordered in late November and received it on the 30th. I provided all the information and they figured it out and let me know my RMA number and that they would be happy to issue a credit minus a $10 restocking fee. The items weighs only a couple ounces and is about 7 inches long. It would cost me $4.00 to properly ship it back minus their $10 restocking fee, would leave me with a credit (not a refund) of about $3 dollars.
Or in other words it would cost me $1.00 to return it.
I am opting to keep it on my desk as a reminder not to do business with them. I save money by keeping it.
They obviously have no sense of customer service and I doubt if they will have much longevity in business. I could not recommend Acme Micro Systems/8anet.com to anyone.

After I posted my initial response, Acme Micro contacted me, indicated they had read the review and would like for me to change it to a positive response. In exchange they would give me full credit for the item in question if I returned it through their RMA system. They were considerate in making that offer, which I accepted. I shipped it back and they gave me a credit of $12.00 dollars. The initial shipping was around $6.00, the return shipping was $5.00, so all in all I was out $11.00 for a $12.00 item.
I would consider doing business with them in the future, however I am not a fan of the way they handle returned merchandise, that will be a consideration for any future purchases. I suspect had I not completed this survey I would still have the item as a paperweight.
Their response presented the problem as some confusion in the return process. There was no confusion except on their part, it was the onerous specifics of their return policy that caused the problem. To my knowledge they did not change their policies. "

During my last purchase, one of their customer service reps went way out of her way to accommodate me. I was doing a new server build with some very recently-released hardware (Nehalem-based Xeon), and I needed real assistance with parts compatibility.

My customer service/sales rep, Mary Z., went above and beyond what you would expect from online merchant customer service. She lined me up a new SuperMicro X8 series motherboard (no one else even had any!), made sure I got the correct revision of server chassis for the board (no other merchant I contacted even had any idea about the revisions), and picked out compatible memory for me. I had an obscure question about the motherboard and she literally went and found it in the warehouse and opened the box for me to find out what I needed to know.

I needed the hardware quickly and she personally made sure that it shipped out that day so I could get it in time for my deadline. I don't think another merchant could have fulfilled my order, let alone give me answers to my questions.

Also she was very friendly and did a great job of maintaining communication throughout the purchase process.

My order arrived on time, everything was there, and it was properly packed.

Also, their prices matched or beat the lowest prices of the other merchants who carry the items I was shopping for.

So to reiterate, the people at ACMEmicro/8anet saved me a lot of headaches and agonizing over "will this new part work with that new part", they got my order to me on time, and the price was great. I would and will order from them again."
