I got an offer letter from sky and decided to go for it. I live in a block of flats so sky referred me to these guys.

GOOD BITS
Customer services were excellent from start to finish. Regular updates on progress of my order and installation right up to this morning. Im seriously impressed by how easy it was to get information. 99.9% of companies are rubbish so it was a nice surprise.

Des who came today to do the installation was SUPERB. Polite, and very helpful. Its day 1 of having sky but im quite shocked at the poor reviews. Anyone reading this would probably think this is a fake review but you couldn't be further from the truth.

10/10!

BAD BITS (well if im being EXTREMELY picky)
They tried calling me in the evening instead of the following morning when requested.
They called to take my CV number for a deposit but I was sure I gave it to them during my first call.
They called me this morning to give me an update on when the engineer was coming over despite me calling for the update first thing.

So you see....the above really isn't a big deal.

I ordered a remote, which was found to be defective on sound control and mute on delivery. Six weeks and numerous delaying emails later, and they now simply ignore my correspondence.

I think that they buy up job lots of controllers that failed final functional testing (for one reason or another) and then sell out to unsuspecting customers. Those who don't complain have probably taken delivery of a controller with a defective function outside of the range of functions they use.

Buy from them at your peril."

"Ordered and paid for genuine make of remote (said "in stock"). This outfit sent out a different AND CHEAPER remote (but from same manufacturer). When I queried they claimed (probably truthfully) that the remote I wanted was no longer available so they'd sent a replacement - they didn't mention the quite large price difference. I did some searching online and they have TWO sites which were advertising the unavailable product, and I also found numerous sites selling the "replacement" at a far lower cost.
They get credit for taking back the product without any hassle but they should never have sent it in the first place - or knowingly sent out a cheaper substitute. Trading standards informed and I've kept screenshots as evidence of what is, at best, misleading advertising. At worst it is a scam where they deliberately charge for one item but routinely send out cheaper product without refunding the difference.
I actually got the same product that they sent out but at less than half the price they tried to charge."

"I've placed an order the 8th of july for a Sharp Remote Control available on their site. I paid with my credit card including shipping. The shipping status on their site says: ORDER PLACED, but untill now (one month and a half) I haven't received anything yet. This firm maybe it's a fake...

The good new is that after this post and after complaining with them on their site, they have changed from "ORDER PLACED" in "SHIPPED"... stay tuned..."

"I ordered a remote control for my Alba TV set. My order was processed quickly and I had delivery within 2 days. However the item supplied did not work at all and I posted it back next day with a letter of explanation.I have had no response to that letter nor to a subsequent email requesting a refund. I am about to send a letter pressing them to respond. If no prompt action I will be asking my bank to take up a dispute issue with Visa witha view to enforcing a charge-back. "Visited web page selling TV remote control handsets, and found TEAC T22LI638 R/C with illustration, and order form.
After receiving my payment AV UK Ltd then supplied a universal "generic"(type) of remote control.
And then claimed that this is all that is illustrated, and available to order.
However, on 23 May 2012 the illustration of a TEAC handset, together with the order form detailing TEAC T22LI638 hand set was still posted.

They deny that this is so, and claim that they are acting reasonably in supplying an item other than as specified on the order form web page.
And state that they are not able to supply the item promised, and (still) illustrated for supply on their web page.

They have advised that they will be refunding the purchses price of £11.49. But the point is that the contract of supply was for the advertised item. And nothing else...
And I intend to take the matter up with my local Council's Trading Standards / Consumer Protection Department.

Potential buyers should proceed on the basis of Caveat Emptor, in the case of AV UK Ltd. Who behave (in my experience) in the manner of a 'Rogue Trader' outlaw enterprise.

"This is a complaint about AV UK Ltd on 01279 508555 and their continuous sales calls.

I approached Sky by phone 2 weeks ago to ask what broadband speed I could expect. Sky gave me AV UK Ltd's number.

I phoned AV UK Ltd and got an answer to my question.

Every day since then, Saturday and Sunday included, they have phoned me. After a few days of this, I got annoyed and told them I wanted no more calls.

The caller explained that they had called a lot because they didn't want me to miss any special offer that might soon expire. This is clearly what they are told to say to justify their annoying style of marketing.

"My dog had chewed through yet another remote control for my tv so rather than opting for another expensive genuine control i ordered a replacment remote from AVUK Ltd which was a quater of the price!

It was explained that it would be a fully compatible remote which has all the functions of the manufacturers control and that the look and layout would be different to my genuine control.

I am very pleased with this company and will order from them again. They didnt charge me for postage, packaging and VAt was included in the price. The price quoted was what i paid. No nasty hidden charges. I got it withing 3 days.

If only all sites i purchase prom are this efficient! "
