restocking fee not happy

"Their employee gave my the wrong parts number, so the part didn't work, I emailed and called several times. They told me to return it, follow the instruction. I get to Pay the $14.99 shipping fee and $8.95 restocking fee AND I get to pay the return postage fee. What a deal I got! I can't even get them to return my email for a solution."

Ordered, emailed, emailed, no part, canceled order. Waste of time.

"I ordered a part they showed on their site. I paid for that part and for rush shipping as I need the part quickly. I called and was told that the part would ship out that day. 2 days later it still hasn’t shipped. I emailed customer service and received no reply. I called 6 times and no reply. I emailed again and got a reply, we don't have the part in stock. Shyte! I asked when it would be in, they will get back to me. Received another email, “our distributor doesn’t have any and doesn’t know when they will be getting any in”. Then don’t have it as available on your web site! Don’t take my money and make me search the part out! Don’t lead me down the garden path and push me off a cliff. I canceled the order and received a refund. I only lost 5 days in this process, I feel lucky.
So, I did get a refund, but wasted a bunch of time. I won’t make the mistake of purchasing anything here again.
Believe the bad reviews, they are the truth with regard to this company.

WE deserved some of the Bad reviews posted below but not all

"Hi My name is Alan and im one of the owners of APW Distributing. Below are some reviews and id like to take this opportunity to take blame and explain.
We took orders from customers for product that was to be drop shipped from the manufacturer. This your they had 2 problems, new software and late inventory arrival. When we had an order for a part not in stock we were letting the customer know there would be a delay and advising them of the time for them to get the part based on what the manufacturer was telling us. This was something we shouldnt have done as the product was not being shipped out as we were being told and this left customers waiting much longer then reasonable. We gave the option to cancel the orders and most opted to wait.

We have to take full responsibility for this situation as we were the company that they placed the order with. We have learned and deeply apologize to any customers that received poor service because of this.

Regarding the complaint on a restocking fee. We do not charge and restocking fee on items that are returned in new and resealable condition.

Regarding the power washer handle. WE contacted the manufacturer and they sent customer a replacement gun.

And finally the last complaint. A customer in Canada wanted more info on a Sunday then we could offer him regarding the cost to ship to his extended area. This info would be available until Monday. He became very angry and his emails were in a manor that i decided we didn't want him as a customer. This caused him to exaggerate and edit the text of the emails and spread misinformation and disparage us even though he bought nothing from our company. We did not deserve what he has done to our reputation

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

"Recently I purchased a replacement pump from APW Distributing, to go on my Troy Built pressure washer because it was not putting out pressure. I had debated buying a whole new pressure washer because it seemed like a ton of work, but after talking to APWs technical support I was assured that it wouldn't be that difficult. They also helped me to find the correct pump for my unit. The pump arrived in a timely manner and I went to put it together and started having some troubles, so I called APW again to see if they could help walk me through it and after about 10 min of their help we had the pump working properly on my machine and I was ecstatic. I am thoroughly impressed with their customer service. Never order anything from this company, unless you're okay giving them money and never getting what you bought!

"I ordered a part for my power washer on Sunday, May 6, 2018. On May 8, 2018, I received an email from Michael R. Lankin letting me know that they don't have that part to ship immediately, but they expect it "in their warehouse within 7 to 10 business days." I replied that it wasn't a rush and thanked him for the email. On May 29 I sent him an email asking him about the status of the order and never received a reply. Today is Wednesday, JUNE 20 and I still haven't received the part nor any correspondence on when I can expect to receive the part. I called the phone number and just got a voice mail. Tonight I will dispute the charges and get my money back. Avoid this company at all costs!!!!!! (unless you're okay giving them money and never getting what you bought!)"

I will never buy from this company again.

"I bought parts for my pressure washer online. I received an email receipt that said I would receive another email when the part was received. I was out of town on business for two weeks after I placed my order. Upon returning home and realizing that I never received my part, I called their phone number. I was told that the tracking number they had showed that it would be delivered in the week. I received it three days later. Once I opened the package, I realized that the order was not complete and that the kit that I had ordered was missing a key part. I again called their phone number. The gentleman pulled up my order and said all the pieces should've come in the same order. He took my contact information and said he would look in to it and call or email me. That was three days ago. I just called and spoke to another gentleman that told me the exact same thing and again took my contact information. This gentleman did contact me and told me that my part was in fact on its way and should be delivered today. We'll see what happens. Either way, this was entirely too much work on my part and this company has terrible communications."

Returning a part is horrible.

"I purchased a pump for my pressure washer. Guaranteed to fit. Service was good and it arrived as promised. The screw holes were not in alignment with my washer. The hose for degrease additive was under the cowling and impossible to use. They said the pump fit the specs of my washer manufacturer. It was not close. After a lengthly exchange of emails, I gave up and ask to return the pump. There is a 20% restock fee! Well, first I told them it did not fit, but they did not listen. Next I pointed out that my pump was regularly $199 and on sale for $139. Which 20% will you charge me? They did not reply. I also argued that pump #1 weighs 6Lbs and fits in a shoe box. Pump #2 is seemingly identical but costs $299. Same size, weight, shelf space. The restock fee should be a fixed amount, not a percentage of the price. It makes no sense. They did not listen because a percentage is simple to program in a computer. This place is a real screw job if your part must be returned."

Power washer handle

"I bought a replacement handle for my Huffy Power-washer last May. The new handle only lasted one season and was leaking water this year when I went to use it. I wrote to APW and originally was told that the parts were only covered for 90 days. A few days later I was notified via e-mail that they would replace the handle (1 time) at no cost to me. Update 4/27/2016 I e-mailed after two weeks since my handle didn't arrive and I never got a response. Due yourself a favor and buy a replacement nozzle from Home Depot. I would never buy from these guys again."

"I feel the need to share my personal experience with the Owner of this company as his conduct is anything but professional
and he has an "extended area surcharge" statement on his site that authorizes him to add additional shipping costs to your order. He is very evasive and defensive when confronted with this policy as my emails will prove. After further research online, I found that this company has had shipping complaints! PLS READ MY EXPERIENCE to save yourself a hassle!

I contacted Mr Alan Martinson (OWNER) @ "APW Distributing and Portable Power Equipment" via email on Sunday May 19, 2013 @ 6:12AM PST regarding a shipping inquiry surrounding a potential purchase. For the record, initially, I didn't realize he was the Owner.

He responded later on that evening. We had a back and forth conversation surrounding some shipping option concerns I had and he was prompt and thorough with his replies.

For what ever reason, his thoroughness disappeared, his demeanor seemed to change altogether and he evaded the topic of conversation surrounding a paragraph on his site that states "some areas may be charged an Extended Area Surcharge. You will be contacted by a Representative if additional charges need to be collected."

I advised him that the purchase wouldn't be worth it for me if additional charges applied and I asked him to check into that for me. I also asked how long it would take to arrive at my destination.

Mr Martinson's response to that email was, "I suspect 7-10 days." He didn't even acknowledge the "extended area surcharge" concern.

My email response to Mr Martinson was to please check to ensure that my area doesn't fall under the "extended area surcharge." I advised him again that it just wouldn't be worth it to pay any additional costs.

Mr Martinson's entire response was, "it will say in the check out."

My response @ 4:56PM PST was, "it flat out states that a Rep will contact you if additional shipping charges need to be collected." In an attempt to diffuse the situation, I advised Alan that as long as I could cancel the order (if these additional charges applied) that we could move forward with the purchase.

Mr Martinson simply vanished and did not reply to the above email.

Two and a half hours later, at 7:31PM PST, I sent another email to Mr Martinson that entailed question marks.

Again, no response from Mr Martinson.

The next morning, I awoke at 730AM EST (I live in the EST zone), so @ 8:01AM EST or 5:01AM PST, I contacted Mr Martinson with an email:

"Alan,

I'm not in the business of making trouble, but I certainly am in the business of protecting my better interest. If you can't answer my questions, maybe you can forward me to a person who can. If I don't hear from you, I'll do so on my own accord.

Please get back to me with the answers to my questions and concerns. I have detected some evasiveness coming from
you throughout our entire conversation. Not to mention flat out disappearing in the midst of asking about this "extended
area surcharge." Is that how you deal with all your customers? Vanish and leave on that kind of note? Ok, fine, if it is a Sunday and you are off, then I suppose I understand to some degree, but that being said, maybe you should have responded to me during business hours or at least have the common courtesy to not leave me hanging like that. The line of communication with you is like pulling teeth. I wonder how your Boss or the Owner would feel about this type of behavior?
Word of mouth travels faster than anything.

Please advise what you would like me to do."

Mr Martinson responded approximately 20 minutes later with, " I need to check with our shipping manager for an answer."

One minute later, he followed up with another email stating, " Wont you allow me to sleep at night?"

He followed up a minute after that with, "I'm the Owner!"

I followed up with:

Sleep at night? Do most people in Oregon go to sleep at 5PM or maybe even 730PM?

Perhaps you should put away that chip on your shoulder and open up your line of communication to inform me(the paying customer) of these things. I don't force you to do anything my friend, including the negative aspect. You do that well enough on your own. As previously stated, if you don't want to bring business home to bed with you and require a good night's sleep, then feel free to contact me during business hours. I didn't tell you to return my email inquiry on a Sunday evening and I am certainly not interested in your poor excuse.

Mr Martinson's response was simply, "I don't think we care for your business."

In a nutshell, I provided Mr Martinson with an email stating that we can address my concerns and fix the issues at hand or that he can settle for my personal experience posted online so that others are made aware of his shipping policy and personal conduct. I gave him an opportunity to address my concerns and clearly stated how I felt about his conduct. He did not respond

Please note that I gave him a negative review on Yelp.com and he felt the need to have that review removed via contacting them. He did not even attempt to contact me to fix this. He was more worried about his reputation. This speaks volumes as to the type of person you are dealing with, so I took it upon myself to post the same review on ripoffreport.com and here as I know he will have much more difficulty escaping the truth on legit sites.

HEED this warning. Avoid this guy at all costs.

"Stay away, poor costumer service, loves to give you the run around when and if you can get someone to help you. Ordered a part twenty two days ago still have not received part. When I call I am caller number 15. Awesome, don’t waste your time leaving a message they do not call back."
