“I was ready to build a new desktop computer after many years. I decided to buy from Microcenter because I wanted the peace of mind of dealing with a physical store nearby, & they are THE place to go in my area for all things computer.
After some stalling, I finally started the assembly a couple weekends ago, but after getting everything plugged into the motherboard, the system wouldn't boot. I don't have the proper setup to test everything myself, so I took the motherboard, CPU, memory, & power supply to their service section. I was told that they would be able to look at my components same day, or at worst within 24 hours. I was nervous because of a very bad tech support experience years ago (basically the reason I've been my own tech support for the last 15 years), but after a quick discussion with Tom, he said he'd do a quick check for power-up issues if I didn't mind waiting (it was a Sunday - no problem). He came back after about 10 minutes & said the problem was the motherboard (I'd bought an open-box deal) & said he'd authorize an exchange (I was past the 15-day return limit) if I wanted to go pick out another one. I went & got a BETTER one, sealed, & paid the difference for upgrading. Then he took it in back & checked it to be sure it worked, & even switched my CPU & memory over to the new board to make sure they worked together.
Tom saved my weekend & restored my faith in service techs. Thank you Microcenter!”
