But in the end I decided to go with a "real" business with lots of positive reviews, here and also on online forums. My set arrived in perfect condition four days after I placed my order. It was double-boxed with a few dings in the outer box, but the inner box was untouched. If I could change any thing, I would have preferred a different shipper. It was Fedex Ground, and they left the huge box precariously perched on my small front landing. ”

“I ordered a pair of bathroom wall sconces with an estimated ship date of 1-2 weeks. My credit card was charged immediately. After 2 weeks, I contacted them and was told the sconces would ship in a few days, and that the warehouse had been closed for a week for the holidays. The projected ship date slipped again and again, so in frustration I canceled the order. To my surprise their CSR said I would not be credited immediately, but that they would have to contact the sconce manufacturer first. (Apparently 1STOPlighting did not stock the sconces and would have-drop shipped them from the maker.) After yet another contact demanding the credit, and threatening to dispute the charge, I did get a refund.”

“I ordered an Eyenimal automatic pet feeder. It was critical to me that I get the hard to find small animal feeder, but instead they sent the regular model. It's been a nightmare trying to resolve this. I don't think they actually ever had the model the advertised, but I haven't been able to get a refund or a replacement. Not sure if they're sleazy or incompetent, or likely both.”
“I ordered a plumbing part from CSN Stores through Amazon Marketplace. Their price was good and the item came quickly: so far, so good.
It turned out I didn't need the part, so I got a return authorization and sent it back at my expense. After various delays their CSR said that they would not refund the cost of outbound shipping -- fine since this was stated in the return policy -- but they also would not refund the MA sales tax, something definitely not stated in that policy.
