“I'm surprised at all the poor reviews. This just goes to show that most people are quick to complain when something goes wrong, but don't bother to write a review when everything goes right.
The first time I discovered Jet I found a good price on a game camera. It was only $3 cheaper than an Amazon seller, though, and I decided not to take the risk on a new company. Since then, I've found multiple products where Jet had the lowest price. I ordered a Diablo blade for my table saw and a shooting rest. Both were the lowest price I could find and I searched page after page of Google. Both of my orders shipped within an acceptable amount of time. They definitely met my expectations and changed me from a skeptic into a believer.”
“I found a pellet gun for a good price on grabagun.com. It said in big bold letters on the item page, "$5.99 Flat Rate shipping on all firearms!" When I tried to checkout, my only options for shipping were $18.10 or local pickup. I emailed customer service figuring this was an error. The reply I got said this:
Yes sir only actual firearms are $5.99. Not accessories, air guns and mussle loaders since they don't go to an FFL.
I copied that statement directly from the email and didn't change anything. Why put that on the page for an air gun then, right below the description? If it only applies to particular items, only put that offer on those pages. It's false advertising! The shipping cost for a .22 rimfire rifle isn't going to be any different than the .22 pellet gun I was trying to purchase, so why charge a different price for shipping? My state considers pellet guns firearms and they are legal for hunting. I was unhappy with this interaction and won't be purchasing anything from any gun shop that doesn't know what a muzzleloader is.”
“This was my first and last order with Raise. I purchased a KFC gift card on 21 April 15. I received an email on the 22nd saying it shipped. I waited for days. I have to go out of my way to check my mail too, so it was a hassle day after day when it didn't arrive. I emailed customer support on 2 May saying it hadn't arrived. I was told they would contact the shipper, but I had to wait until at least the 5th before they would give a refund. Where on earth could mail possibly be coming from to take 14 days to get to me? Certainly not the US.
May 5th came and went, so I emailed again and asked for my refund. Finally on the 7th it arrived. It was postmarked 5 May, 13 days after I received an email saying it was shipped and 4 days after they said they contacted the shipper again! I got an apology from customer service for the delay, but nothing else. I feel I should have gotten a coupon or discount for the poor transaction.
During my emails with customer service, I discovered that Raise doesn't actually have the gift cards they sell. Random people contact Raise with gift cards they want to unload, Raise lists them for sale, and when they sell, Raise contacts said random person with shipping instructions. So my name and address were given to a totally unknown person with probably no vetting process whatsoever. I know for a fact that not all gift card resellers operate this way. Cardpool has sellers mail in physical gift cards to them or provide codes for online gift cards. This is a much safer and more reliable way of doing business. I wouldn't have had to wait two and a half weeks for my card if Raise operated more professionally.”
“My friend had just graduated an Army engineer school and I wanted to buy her something to commemorate it. I found an engineer corp flag from Decoration Warehouse. They had the best price I could find. The flag looked great! I was surprised at the quality for such a low price. The package was shipped the same day and tracking info was provided. ”
“This is the second time I've ordered from Wayfair. I bought my first home in 2012 and I've shopped for several items on their website. But honestly, I can't figure out how I didn't hear of them before. Their slogan is "A Zillion Things Home" and it's the truth. I was shopping for an area rug and they have literally tens of thousands of rugs! I limited the search results to blue rugs in a certain size and a certain price range and there were still 1,200 results.
The prices on some items are hard to beat, but be aware of what you're buying. The first item I shopped for was a medicine cabinet. I was a little disappointed in the quality, though. For the price I paid I wasn't expecting to assemble it myself and the materials were on the poorer side. I can buy cheap Chinese home items from Collections Etc for a lot less. I also purchased a dart board with cabinet. The price was well below similar items sold elsewhere, but quality again was lacking. Some of the parts were missing from the package and I had to scrounge at the hardware store. I can't compare the dart board I purchased with others, but I have to imagine the higher price equals higher quality.
I guess I'm always surprised when I buy things from a store that sells both very high quality items and cheap stuff. I expect to find those two categories of items at two different stores. I will continue to shop at Wayfair, though. The selection is unparalleled and they have lots of good stuff. Shipping is very fast and professional.”
“This was my first order with Hollister. I am torn with how I feel about the transaction (see last paragraph). I found a couple shirts and my niece ordered a pair of shorts and a tank top. I ordered on a Sunday and they didn't ship until Thursday. Rather than providing tracking with UPS, they provide shipping updates on the Hollister website. And unless you have cable Internet or faster, the website takes quite a while to load.
When the package arrived I noticed they sent an extra pair of shorts the same as my niece ordered but 5 sizes larger. They sent the correct pair too and didn't charge me for the extra pair, but this was still a mistake. I saw from the initials on the invoice that the package was reviewed and verified by an extra person. The mistake could have easily gone the other way.
All the items ordered were from their clearance section, but there were no discounts or shipping coupons available when I placed my order. Shortly after placing my order I started receiving promotional emails, at my request. I received one that offered 25% off and flat $5 shipping. I browsed the website to see if there were any more items I wanted. The price on the shirts I had ordered INCREASED by 57%! Imagine that. They offered a discount coupon but increased the prices on every single item by more than the coupon. Not very honest business practices. I would have ended up paying even more after their "discounts." I'm leery about buying anything else.”
“I ordered a gallon size of the fuel treatment PRI-G to prepare for the zombie apocalypse (just kidding). BatteryStuff had the best price shipped. I placed my order on a Saturday and they shipped on Monday with tracking. I now have a better fuel stabilizer than Sta-bil and enough to last for years.”
“I was searching for a pair of over-the-ear earbuds with in-ear speakers. I must have checked a few dozen websites. Everything either had terrible reviews or the price plus shipping was outrageous (I can't bring myself to spend more on earbuds than I did for my full-size headphones). That was until I found Sonic Electronix. I ordered a pair of JVC HAEBX5B for only $11.99 with free shipping. I received an order confirmation and tracking info was sent the following day. I will more than likely order a second pair of the earbuds from Sonic to have as a pair. I couldn't be happier.”
“My first order was the first time I browsed the website. I ordered a replacement fender for my Tacoma. The priced shipped was cheaper than I could find anywhere else, including eBay. I received confirmation of my order and it was shipped the same day! I will definitely shop there again.”
“I'd just bought a pool table and was searching for some accessories. I found a good looking chalk holder on eBay that was listed by Ozone Billiards. I checked out their website and was able to find several more items at good prices. I was able to save a bundle on shipping by buying from the website. I received an order confirmation and shipping confirmation the next day. Ozone will be my first stop when shopping for anything for my pool table”
“Valorcorp is a wholesaler of guns and outdoor items, so they require a sales tax ID or an FFL to open an account. The best deals were their clearance items. One of the nice things they offer is dropshipping for a small fee. Even though I wasn't making a huge profit on the items I dropshipped, I was making a profit with very little effort. The only problem is that A LOT of online sellers use them for dropshipping. Even on items with a quantity of only one or two in stock. I got burned a couple times and had some unhappy customers because the items were sold out before I had the chance to update my inventory.
When I placed an order they had very detailed updates that most businesses don't. They updated the status when the order was in process, waiting to be picked, ready to be shipped, and shipped. Unfortunately, this whole process could sometimes take up to a week. If they shipped a little faster like Amazon does with their 2-day shipping all the updates would be useless. The status would go from "in process" to "shipped" in a few hours. Overall I am happy with Valorcorp. Customer service was helpful when I had issues. If only there were a better system to check inventory levels of items I sold I would have no issues at all.”
“I found some StreetThunder Megaphones in an old Galls catalog. When I went online the price was even better because I got a discount. The megaphones are top quality. Even better than I expected. Everything was done right.”
“Prices are great. I put in a request to purchase some projector equipment from a source I found online. Our buyer placed the order with Tech Data and got a much better deal. This is a big company with several warehouses across the country. It took a little longer to get the equipment but it was worth it. I had no issues with them.”
“I guess I've gotten lucky over the years to have good transactions with Radio Shack. Or maybe their poor rating has something to do with the fact that everyone can't wait to post a review for their bad experience but only rare individuals take the time to post a review for all their good experiences.
I've had nothing but good experiences with Radio Shack both online and at local stores. In fact, I was just at my local store and I had to buy a bunch of fuses for work because one of our buildings was struck by lightning. The credit card I brought didn't work and the owner let me take the fuses and I paid the next day. How's that for customer service? I think I could make that into a country song about the good ol' days when a deal could be made with a handshake.”
“I ordered a T3 (jumbo) mailbox online from Menards. None of the local stores carried the large ones for a decent price (even eBay was more). The website said it would take 6-8 days for the item to ship. I only know I received it about two weeks after I placed the order. I'm not sure exactly how long it took to get to the carrier since I never received any shipment info. In fact, if I look up my order right now, it still shows the item staged at a Menards warehouse in another state even though I've received it.
Menards wasn't the very best price I could find after shipping and tax, but the other websites I found with lower prices were no-name companies and wouldn't respond to my emails. I decided to pay a little more and go with a trusted company in case there were any problems. There weren't any issues with the item, but I've bought enough items online to know that saving a few more dollars isn't worth it if the item arrives damaged or broken and I can't get customer service to contact me back.”
