GARMIN VIRB ELITE EXTENED REVIEW
" My Garmin Virb Elite has met most my expectations since its purchase in June of 2014. My only initial complaint was the unlighted display. I accepted the issue and programed the unit at an angle in light. Following my purchase of an iPad, the Garmin app made the programming much simpler. However, recent Garmin updates have have left me with the inability to flip my camera with the the Garmin app. Other areas of programming have not been affected. Troubleshooting led me to contact Garmin for a resolution. While their response was straightforward, it was very disheartening. Please note the email in its entirety below. The ability to flip camera worked perfectly prior to the update. Garmin took no ownership to resolve the issue. Why should one purchase a Garmin product with the expectation that the product will perform as described?Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I am sorry to hear that your camera is not flipping with your remote. I will be happy to assist you with this issue. What did you update? The device or the Virb Remote app? From testing it in the office, it seems as though the preview screen in the Virb Remote app is not flipping, however the images on the Virb Elite are flipped. Researching this further, it has come to our attention that this problem will not be fixed. With the announcement that the Virb Elite is now discontinued there are no future plans to update this device. Unfortunately, there will be nothing else we can do at this point. You will need to flip the camera view on the device before recording with the remote app. Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause. If you have any additional questions, please let us know. "In 10 years of web-shopping, it's the worst experience i have never had.after 11 DAYS of shipment, my watch was returned to the sender (garmin UK, because they ask for that according to ups) . When i emailed their Costumer service to ask for my money they ask me to wait until they finish their investigation (to understand what happens)."
"4 business days just to ship a GPS from their warehouse? Maybe I should stick to smartphone apps only. This is a crappy arrogant company that does not care about its customers! "I have a Garmin Nuvi and purchased a map update which works fine. The problem is that I had many favorite locations saved on my device and during the updating process they were deleted and replaced with 3 Garmin office sites. Why anybody would want those I can't imagine. Never during the map update process was there a warning I might lose my data, never a prompt to save my data before updating and no recourse after the update is done. I had saved these sites on my device for a purpose, not to have them deleted because a company has such a poor updating process. Customer service was unable to offer any solution and politely told me too bad! I wouldn't recommend Garmin support or updating at all."
"Garmin 3790LMT and Garmin customer service:Received this unit Nov. 2011 and first used it Dec. 26th 2011 and after only a few minutes of working with it knew I was going to have problems. The unit could not find the proper addresses for just about everything I entered. Same with POI's. Voice activation was activated with no input to do so, lane assist had the wrong information, the list goes on and on.When Garmin was contacted about a return and refund I was refused because I had the unit longer than thirty days. When questioned about the missing streets and POI's they said they found them on their unit and refused to do anything. I have had several GPS units a know my way around them so lack of familiarity has no bearing on the poor performance of this unit. Oh! And did I mention Garmin customer service stinks?"
