The Quote Game,
"Had a Leica film camera to sell, with Leica lens, took over 7 weeks for them to get back to me reference a quote, then it was strictly a low ball. Pretty obvious the game is to buy low, sell high, but with no standards as to fairness or customer service. When they state upfront quote within 1 week and then seven weeks later--well enough said and lesson learned, would not do business with again and definitely cannot recommend. "

"Extremely long story short:- bought a used camera in 98/100 condition (Canon EOS M5)- the camera had issues: couldn't take RAW photos (all came out red no matter the settings); the screen would go on/off if you were walking around with it; the audio port was lose and mic cord would fall out; the battery indicator didn't work.- contacted KEH, they wouldn't give me a refund- spent two weeks and HOURS trying to get a refund- dealt with 5 employees and 2 managers until they finally agreed to give me a refund (after they tried to charge me a restocking fee for sending back the broken camera)- the refund was supposed to be given in 3-5 business days- refund took 12 business days and I had to call 3 different times to get it sent back to my Paypal accountThe most stressful and worst purchasing experience I've ever had in my entire life, and I've bought hundreds of different items online. I was constantly shocked throughout the process at how unprofessional the whole experience was. I genuinely would rather spend hundreds of dollars more at another store than KEH, and I make $15 per hour at my job... that's how little trust/faith they deserve."
Avoid unless you like losing money
"I had 2 Nikon camera bodies and 4 lenses to sell, all in great condition, no wear and tear, working normally. I get a KEH quote, lower than I'd like but better than other vendors in this space. They make it seem on their website that the equipment will be quoted within a "guaranteed" payout range so I'm happy. But when I get my final quote back (took 8 weeks btw), they nickel-and-dimed me by 60% less than my initial quote. Everything was reduced, even equipment that they graded as Excellent and Excellent+, along with two pieces that they lowered to $0 from claims of "impact damage" and "repair costs". They had no real explanation as to why, this just seems like their standard of business, another way to screw over customers in order to maximize their margins.Just a blatant example of a bait and switch, and they will never be getting my business again. Avoid at all costs, or know going in they'll try to screw you over in any way possible. "
Money offered inconsistent with their online quoting system
"I had an alright experience with selling to KEH in August 2017. They quoted me a pretty low amount for gear that I wasn’t convinced had much value in first place, so I took that offer and was generally comfortable with accepting it. Mainly it gave me a better idea of their standards for grading. As a consumer who has purchased several items (mainly lenses) from them, this was comforting as it gave me better confidence in buying gear from them in the future. I have always had a good experience buying from them, and with a first attempt at selling some ancient lenses I no longer had any use for, I became comfortable with sending in even more gear that I knew to have some value and to have been kept in good condition by me (one such item was altogether brand-new and never used).So it came as a shock to me when this most recent selling attempt resulted in an offer a little more than half the amount quoted through their online system. Don’t get me wrong—- I am certainly not a professional camera/lens/gear appraiser nor do I believe myself to be. I figured that most of the items I sent in would receive lower grades based on KEH’s standards, as I can’t resolutely determine which ones would qualify as ‘GOOD’ over ‘BGN,’ ‘LIKE NEW’ or ‘EXCELLENT +.’ I realistically figured the ultimate value of the final offer would deviate from the initial quote by a couple hundred dollars at most. The initial quote was $1206.So after month of patience on account of the holiday rush, I finally received the email with my offer. $723.I seesawed between accepting the offer or asking them to return the items, I noticed that they included a grading summary of their appraisal. Most items were graded lower than I had indicated, some much lower, which made sense. One item I marked as ‘LIKE NEW’ received ‘BGN.’ Yet most of them deviated by one score: i.e. ‘EXCELLENT’ vs ‘EXCELLENT-‘I even accepted the logic of rating a certain item I bought brand new, had never used, and came in the original box as ‘EXCELLENT’ instead of ‘LIKE NEW-‘ as I had originally indicated; after all I had included a lens I marked as ‘EXCELLENT +’ that ended up being ‘BGN.’ The email they send is a link that directs you to how you wish to accept the payout. At the bottom they include the order summary; what you sent and what they received, both with the grades you gave your own gear and the grades they gave the same gear.Out of curiosity, I decided to directly apply all of their specific appraisels for each of my items back on their website in the form of a new quote. The value? $978.A $250 difference when using the exact same grades in the appraisal summary.This is what has left such an awful taste in my mouth from the experience and will keep me from selling to them ever again. I understand that there is a lot of room for error in the selling of secondhand items, especially when it comes to cameras and camera lenses. I can accept low ball offers and the pride swallowing involved when you admit to yourself that your possessions don't hold as much value as you'd like to believe they do.What I cannot accept is this intentional misdirection. I figured that $1206 was a best-case scenario figure for the gear I had sent in. When I saw the $723 offer, I asked myself 'Why did I even bother sending that stuff in? I guess I must have been way off mark in evaluating my gear's value? Maybe I should take the offer?' Thank goodness I checked my gear with the grades that they had given and saw the quote for $978. I'm actually happy I did. It's worth it to know how they really operate before I make the huge mistake of ever trying to sell to them again. "
My First and Certainly Last Experience with KEH
"My first and last experience with KEH. I read reviews online and all the praise about this company and how trustworthy they are, how I thought I was making a well informed decision.I had my used equipment for 3 weeks before I received a quote, which dollar wise was significantly less than what there online system quoted me. My first big surprise, however, I understand that this is business and I was growing ever more worried that this process would drag out to over a month from start to finish. My biggest issue, which in my opinion is just straight theft in choosing to ignore me is that they also stated that they received only some of the equipment I shipped to them. I notified them that I had sent the item to them in the original lens box, but never received a reply regarding my issue. It's my word against their's at this point. I took the low ball quote and gave up chasing them for fair payment on equipment they claim they did not receive in fear they would not pay me at all. Consumers beware!"
KEH Camera is a fraud
"**UPDATE** Robin, one of the mangers from KEH contacted me yesterday and apologized for how my quote was handled, and said they would honor the price i was quoted online. While I think their speed in turnaround time could be better, I'm happy to report they made right on this issue and I will bring my business back to KEH if I'm ever in the need for camera equipment again.KEH Camera is a fraud, they give me a quote online or $139 and once they received my equipment they say it has above average wear and reduce the value of my equipment by half when the only issue was the 3" display on the back which is why i didn't classify the camera as perfect condition in the first place. If someone gives their equipment and honest grade you should honor the quote. The screen can be replaced for $6 off ebay, so you wanted to give me half the value, replace that screen and turn around and sell it for $140. What a joke, if the camera is not a high demand camera and that is your true reason, that is what you should tell the customer, don't insult them. I recommend not trying to sell your equipment to them, additionally it took them over a month to get back to me."

"I have dealt with KEH in both buying and selling. Their prices are fair for a reseller of used equipment and their ratings on the products have been conservative in my experience. The processing times vary, however my order this past week was processed and shipped in the day of ordering. I am sure I will be going back to KEH in the future."

Product rated EX has missing parts......
"I would say if you are specializing selling used parts you should make sure everything is included. I bought Newton camera bracket and the screw that connects the bracket to the camera is missing. so it is not like something obscure but the main component is missing. That means that the product was not checked before it was rated EX. Rated EX means it should have all the parts especially something that important like a screw that connects to the camera. I called the store and they offered refund but this product is hard to find and I waited a week to get it. I asked if they can ship me the screw and I was told NO. Really disappointed in KEH service."
"I don't usually deal with companies I'm not familiar with and was hesitant after reading customer comments on resellerratings.com, most were not complimentary. But I placed an online order for under $10 (that's all I was willing to risk) and everything worked out in favor of me, the customer. The website was offering free shipping for July but I couldn't find anywhere to input the code. I placed the order anyway and immediately sent the company a message about the shipping charge. Within 12 hours they responded and removed the shipping charge. Within 48 hours my credit card notified me of the credit to my account. I've dealt with big national companies that were not this timely and responsive.My item came within 7 days and is exactly as described. Pleased with every aspect of my dealings."
KEH "3rd party security check company."
"Customer support offered zero assistance when my orders were declined by their "3rd party security check company". Never received my order despite providing correct information. Staff sent me through a loop of steps to troubleshoot that yielded zero results. Staff didn't follow up on my orders when I was told they would contact me through email. Will not attempt to use KEH again and would not recommend to anyone else."

Fix your CRM!
"When i order directly from keh's site, i'm ALWAYS in doubt if they fail to process my order or just won't react, if something in their opinion goes wrong. They will reply(to the wrong address actually) only if you contact them. And then begins another story of sending idiotic messages back and forth just to prove you made everything correct. The one thing, they are not forgetting to make is to charge your card FULLY (without confirmation, without anything), so if you in trouble, you also have no money.No problems with equipment though."
Avoid Like The Plague ! ! !
"I can understand a difference of opinion in the condition of a lens; however, when a lens leaves the seller working and in LN- condition and KEH calls it basically scrap for parts there is a problem. I had them return it. The lens in question is a Nikon 105mm f/2D DC AF Nikkor. I had tested it before I packed it. I shot images both manually and using auto exposure and auto focus -- more than a hundred images covering a range of focus distances and every aperture/shutter speed combination. It WORKED when it left me. When it was returned, it would not focus and there was a white blob on one of the interior lens elements that had NOT been there when I packed it. I sent it to MidWest Camera for repair. $180 + shipping both ways later, it was working perfectly, again. MWC said the lens had be dropped hard enough to skew the focusing mount and sever one of the focusing guides, part of which had stuck to the lens element by way of its lubrication. I have no way of knowing if the lens was damaged in shipment from me to KEH or not; however, it was packed in its original box cradled in its original fitted Styrofoam packing. That box was wrapped with bubble wrap inside a cardboard box. The cardboard box was inserted in a second cardboard box with a two-inch layer of Styrofoam peanuts on all sides. The box was sent to KEH using KEH's shipping label via Fed/Ex ground. Either Fed/Ex plays golf using baseball bats as clubs or someone at KEH knocked the lens off a table or counter to the floor. I have no way of knowing. And I have no recourse."
Used to be great but now is a disaster of rude people and lack of support
"I don't know what happened but years ago it was a pleasure working with them.These days, you encounter rude after rude person that seems to have zero interested in helping with any issue or question you may have.I just placed my LAST order with them...never again.Used PHoto Pro, B&H or Adorama only for me from now on."
