"i purchased an open-box cat back exhaust system a couple weeks ago. i checked the info they posted about the open box item and from what i saw i knew i could make it work.
a couple days after ordering i received 3 large boxes. opened the first and there were the long mid pipes. opened the next box and there were 2 mufflers. opened the third box and instead of the x pipe being in the x-pipe box there were 2 more mufflers.
i could see on the outside of the x-pipe box a handwritten not that said ‘mounting hardware missing’
i called AM customer service and was told that open box means parts missing and that i should have read the open box description. i told him i did and nowhere did it say the x pipe was missing and why did i get 4 mufflers? the open box desc said some mounting hardware was missing.
to resolve it he told me I’d need to send everything back on my dime and they’d only issue store credit.
clearly this was not acceptable so i asked to speak to someone higher up. He politely passed me to someone else.
Same thing only this next guy offered me an additional $40 voucher.
this was getting ridiculous so i asked to speak to someone higher up again.
So after an hour on the phone i get to the third level guy (for all i know they’re all the same level) and after stating my case he said i could just keep the 2 extra mufflers and he’d sell me the x pipe as a separate piece for a discounted price
finally a reasonable solution to a mess made by AM
i’m happy now and i did save about $100 over the price of new. BUT why do we customers have to go through all this to get made whole?
i’m usually not that persistent but in this case it paid off
i’m giving AM 4 stars because after a lot of pushing from me they finally did the right thing
it should not take talking to 3 different people to get satisfaction - especially when it’s the vendor screw up.
