"Since I work with a lot of audio, I need an external drive that is fast enough to handle dozens of tracks simultaneously at 24 bit, 48k. I did my research and found that I need a firewire drive/enclosure with an Oxford 911 chipset. Initially, I was just going to purchase an external drive that had the chipset, but I realized that only a few of them had it, including the G-Tech G-Drive and the Maxtor OneTouch triple interface drive. Since I had a WD USB drive with all of my sessions on it, it only made sense to spend less money/time and just transfer the internal drive into an enclosure. After days of searching for the right enclosure, I came across the Newer Technology ministack. After googling "ministack", I found YourMacStore.com with the lowest price. To see if it was rated on ResellerRatings.com, I searched but I couldn't find any reviews or the company itself. I was wary about buying from a dealer that wasn't even mentioned on this site, but after taking a look at their About Us section, I saw that they seemed to really care about Macs and Mac owners. I said "Ah, what the heck- if it's DOA I can at least return it within 30 days- as long as they have decent customer service".

After placing the order, I received two emails- the first being the invoice, and the second telling me that the ministack was on backorder. I checked back with the page, and there was no mention of whether or not it was in stock. In the email it said that it would take 3 business days before they will receive the shipment. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any in stock, but after reading further, they stated that they would not charge my account until they have received the item. I checked my account and surely, it was untouched. I received an email a couple days later that said they received the order early, and went ahead and shipped it out.

I received the order the next business day (I live in CA), and after installing my hard drive into the ministack, I booted my mac and was relieved to see that the drive mounted without problems. All of my data was still there, and the enclosure seems to be working flawlessly. Hopefully the enclosure doesn't go kaput, but at least I have warranty with the manufacturer.

Overall, given the backorder situation, I was still satisfied with the service. I plan to purchase another ministack for my backup hard drive, so if all goes well I'll be doing business with YourMacStore again.
