"X10 is extremely unprofessional, unhelpful, and downright deceitful. I spent a lot of time researching wireless IP cameras as a christmas gift for my husband. In doing so, I called X10 customer service several times before making a purchase, to make sure I knew what we were getting, and wanted to make sure I could return them for a full refund if my husband did not like them. I asked 2 different sales people if I could return the cameras for a FULL refund, and both sales reps told me I had 21 days for a FULL refund. After ordering,there was NO communication about the shipment- no tracking, confirmation, etc. The estimated shipping window came and went, without a word from them- I had to email customer support to find out what happened. After 5 days, I got an email saying they were delayed, and would be there soon- and that was it/ After christmas, my husband tried for a week to install them, but the audio would simply not work. He called X10 tech support about 10 times, and would be put on hold for up to an hour each time. He was also assigned a specific rep, and told he had to work only with her- but she was NEVER available. When he finally got her, she determined that they cameras were defective- she said she would email him return instructions, including a prepaid slip to send them back, b/c they were defective. 2 weeks later the email had not come, and I had to call 5 or 6 times to get someone to assist. Then they tried to argue that it was past the 21 day window, so they were not returnable!! I finally won that battle, when they told me there would be a 15% restocking fee- on a broken camera!!! I told them that 2 sales reps guaranteed me that there would be a FULL refund given if they were returned, and they said that I was given "incorrect information," and that they would have to reprimand the reps that told me that- so, they lied to make the sale. Another 2 hours on the phone, and I finally won that battle, too, but only b/c the cameras were broken. To end the story... they are making me pay to ship back the broken camera, which is another thing they promised would not happen!! Just awful- please save yourself some time and aggravation, and avoid this company. They have no idea what customer service is, and if they send you a broken product, you will not be given a full refund."

"Well after 2weeks of waiting for this x10 model sc1200 and wasting two days moving the control box from one spot to another in my 1200 square feet open floor plan condo I put it back in the box it came and and threw it into to garbage. No matter where you put the control panel it may or may not pick up one of the sensors . One last attempt to make this work correctly by clearing all of the sensors out of the control panel reinstalling them all 8 of them one by one. I hit the remote button to arm the system and then it would not disarm it no matter what i did .$159.00 piece of crap. I had low expectations of it working correctly and boy was I right. DON'T WASTE YOU MONEY. I have com cast and will be calling them to have them install there home security system for me. I did not want to speed $40a month for there service but if you want something that works your going to have to pay for it."

"Ordered 2 X10 wireless outdoor cameras and I could have done better in a toy shop. One antenna was defective and the other broke soon after receipt. The quality is the worse I have ever seen. They offered to "troubleshoot" but won't waste my time trying to improve a worthless system. Wish I had seen this site before I ordered. Would not recommend to anyone."

"Inferior product quality and terrible customer service. They do not return phone calls and they do not reimburse shipping costs on product that arrives in NON-WORKING condition. I had to take time off work as their support center closes at 3:00pm. Their technician could not get product to work. Run far far away from this company!!!!!!"

"Well, it looks like the movie GROUNDHOG DAY as far as this company and the reviews of their service. Like everyone else, I wish i had found this website and read the reviews, I never would have placed an order with them. I paid extra for 2-day shipping and waited for my items. Three days later I decide I should call them. After waiting on hold FOREVER, finally a surly, rude and obnoxious "Customer Service" person told me my order did not ship because some of the items are not in stock. I asked why nobody bothered to tell me this and he got VERY surly and asked how are they supposed to ship what they don't have. I get that. But why take people's money and promise 2-day shipping if you don;t have the parts? being rude to me and telling me I need to wait 8 weeks is absurd. he then told me they would at least ship what they had right away, 2-day shipping. That was a week ago. I called again and sat on hold for more than a half-hour and nobody ever came on the line. So I filed a Paypal dispute where the seller is expected to respond. Nothing. No response whatsoever. So I put it in full chargeback mode and hope to eventually get my money back.
What's funny is I found most of these things on Ebay and they were shipped the same day I ordered them... (NOT from X10 direct)
Avoid them. They SUCK.

"I ordered the video senders. I must say they should sell this product at toys r us. Complete piece of junk. The distance between my rooms is 43 feet with a straight shot down the hallway. This product claims 100 feet plus and will go through walls. Maybe if the walls were made from cardboard. In addition, getting a hold of someone is a joke. If you don't want to buy then you're not going to talk to a human being. Refund is another joke. Of course they're going to charge you a restock fee because they don't see any issues with their product. And expect to get your refund in about 30 days. Avoid this company. I do not know how they stay in business. Junk products and terrible customer service."

"Don't deal with these people!!!!! I find it hard to believe they are still in business when considering their business practices. Their merchandise is defective, doesn't do a fraction of what they advertise. I ordered the Video Sender. WHAT A JOKE. There refund policy - WHAT A JOKE!!!!! "It's truly amazing how a company that performs such abysmal in both product and service could last this long. It looks like X10.com puts more resources in advertisement, which caused it to go Chapter 11 in early 2000, than in product and customer service quality. And now, even when I decided to give X10 another chance, it's failed miserably again. My order (the home security system) died within one day of use. All sensors were unreliable (they worked whenever they feel like it and not when they are supposed to). And came the notorious customer service at X10.com. Actually there was absolutely no service other than causing the customers lots of headaches and pain. They also dragged their feet in refunding my money after the whole thing was sent back to them on an RMA.

The once known sleaziness of their websites has improved quite a bit with much less bikini clad women in cheap poses. The image of the company has not improved, but in fact, tarnished by its own extremely bad customer service. So, do yourself a favor: don't waste time and money on this company. Let it dies on its own weight of incompetence and poor management.

"I am furious with these morons! Do not fall for their advertising!
After being a loyal customer for 30 years, (I just walked through my house and counted 32 X-10 modules.) My entire house is extensively based on X-10 modules. But now they are a NIGHTMARE! Their components have always failed from time to time based mostly on the cheap construction and replacement were available. But the last three orders I had with them were for controllers of different types. Each controller seemed to be in stock until you order- a week later they tell you the device has been discontinued. If you can find the item on E-bay, you pay 4 times as much- IF you can find it. Now I have to convert my entire house at a cost of thousands of $ to another manufacturer (Insteon).

"Do yourself a favor and DO NOT order from these incompetent idiots.

1) They are incompetent. They don't follow up.
2) They are overpriced.
3) They are incompetent. Their procedures suck.
4) They gave me the runaround for days and made me chase them to fix a billing error on THEIR end.
5) They then shipped the product about 3 weeks later than they said they would.

Just stay away. Their phone system didn't work the first time I called them, their website sucks, they are overpriced, and most of all every single one of them is incompetent.

"I bought two 10" Air Pad X and the both units were defective, I wrote customer service who agreed to refund cash for the both items. I sent back the units and three days after they sent back the same two units with the same defects and told me if I sent it back I would have to cover 15% restocking fee. There products stinks and their customer service is even worst, as everyone who I contacted there seems like a idiotic fool."

"X10.com has to be the worst company I have dealt with in a long time.... I ordered something online and it took them 2 weeks to tell me that they had over sold the item. Paid with PayPal and they say it will take 30 days to get refund. Total BS with these people. Placing a phone calls to their WORTHLESS customer support is pointless as they are programmed to give you the run around. Just wish I would have read the stories here. "

"Wish I'd read all these reviews before ordering. Bought a wireless remote security camera. Found out once I got it that I had to go to other sites to download software to make it compatible with my Mac. Never said that in the product description. Spent over 1 1/2 hours with tech to walk me through it. FRUSTRATING. Instruction manual was in broken English...hard to decipher.
Finally had enough and went on-line to get authorization to return it. Found out about the 15% restocking charge. I will NEVER buy from this company again. Bought other wireless stuff from smarthome.com...great experience. X10 is awful.

"I am completely flabbergasted by the lack of customer service of x10.com. How are they still in business??? I have tried repeatedly by email to get someone from the company to advise if the software link they emailed to me and that I PAID FOR is compatible with Mac and I have gotten radio silence. I have been on hold for over 15 minutes and counting and no one is answering the phone. Who is running the shop over there??? At this point I just want to return this stuff and be done with x10. This is purely insane and ridiculous. Since I attempted to call to no avail and attempted to email to no avail, calling the credit card company and disputing the charge...I will return to sender the box of stuff I got."
