"I strongly recommend buying in Woodwind and Brasswind because they guarantee the lowest price - not only when customer buy, but for 45 days after customer purchase as well. After I'd bought
ART Dual Transformer/Isolator Hum Eliminator I found the identical item, in stock and advertised for less at another authorized U.S. dealer($49.95). I sent a message to Woodwind and Brasswind's customer service and received reply after a few minutes:
"I will price match the item ART Dual Transformer/Isolator Hum Eliminator for the $49.99 plus the 10% which that amount comes to $15.90 that will be refunded back to your credit card."

Two days later I received the money($15.90).

"I was purchasing a pair of Yamaha CM500 headphones, and when I found that Woodwind and Brasswind offered the best price, I went for it, though I read quite a few negative customer reviews about the company. While placing the order, I was told that my item may take 3-5 weeks for delivery. I was mentally prepared to wait for 5 weeks and then to make some angry phone calls, going by the reviews I read about the company and its customer service.

Nothing of that sort actually happened. Within less than 2 weeks of placing my order, I got an email telling that my item was shipped and it arrived 17 days from the day I placed the order. It was a brand new item and there was nothing to complain.

I was very happy with the purchase, and in the future, I will confidently do business with WWBW.

"This company has the absolute worst inventory control and customer service that I have ever experienced.

I ordered several items from them, all of which were listed as "in stock". However, the first shipment was missing some items and they gave no indication of when the back-order would ship.

Despite this, their web site indicated that these items were in stock and the site would allow me to order more, but the customer service and sales reps couldn't agree if the items were really in stock or not.

Trying to phone their customer service requires waiting 20 min in phone queue. Calling sales? Only a 20 second wait, but they'll toss you back in the support queue as soon as they learn that you're not giving them a new order.

The customer service was inept and lazy. In the on-line messages, they stated several times that my order had shipped or was about to ship w/o taking notice of the back-ordered items about which I was inquiring.

In the end, it took MORE THAN 2 MONTHS and 18 messages on my customer support case to finally have my order fulfilled.

I strongly advise against using this vendor.

"We were interested in purchasing home speakers. We searched several sites and found WWBW had the best prices. I was uncertain about my order so I contacted a sales rep and he was very helpful. He pulled up on the computer to verify that the items I was ordering were in stock and that they would be shipped in 3 - 5 days... I received my speakers on 09/01/09. Everything went well. I absolutely will use WWBW again. Thanks again.."

"My recommendation: AVOID WWBW.COM AT ALL COSTS! Your business is simply not important to these clowns.

I placed an order for a nice harmonica, which was intended as a birthday gift for my soon-to-be 92 year old grandfather in-law.

A full 29 days later is the first response I received from them, indicating the item was not in stock, and was backordered for 4-months from the original order date. Did it really take a month to figure out it wasn't in stock?

The email cited that I may call customer support or use the website to cancel my order if I wished. I used the website, with the simple request: Please cancel order #nnnnnn. Here's the response I received:


Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxx:

Message from Bethany B at Woodwind & Brasswind:
Thank you for your email.

We have received your request to cancel. Unfortunately, your request was received too late for us to be able to stop shipment and cancel your order. When you receive your shipment, do not refuse the package or a 15% restocking fee will be assessed. Please contact us for return instructions if you still wish to return it. Please keep in mind, that you will be responsible for the original outbound shipping and all return shipping costs. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Customer Service

I immediately put in another request to cancel, citing their own #!@$!%* email that indicated the item was backordered for 4 months, and received the following:

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxx:

Message from Maria M at Woodwind & Brasswind:
As you requested, the following order has been canceled.

Your order number is:4529169

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

Interestingly, every email they communicated referenced a different order #, so perhaps it's their systemic stupidity rather than deceptive questionable practices.

"What a horrible on-line experience! They told me that the item was available when I ordered on December 1. Nothing was shipped, but my account continued to show that the order was being “processed”. Ten days before Christmas I contacted them because it was supposed to be a gift from Santa. NOW they told me it was backordered. So my daughter only got a picture of the item on Christmas Day. Then 2 weeks AFTER Christmas, I went to check the on status again, and my account says it was CANCELLED. No one ever contacted me. When I got a hold of them, they said the item had been discontinued but no one ever contacted me about this. Well I went to Birdlandmusic.com, and they had LOTS of what I needed in stock, and I got the it in 2 days at a cheaper price! Shame on the folks at Woodwinds and Brasswinds! They have NO CUSTOMER CARE. They ruined my daughters Christmas. I will never shop here again, and will never recommend it to anyone else. Buyer beware! "

"I placed an order on Dec 21st planning to take advantage of their advertised offer for 2-day shipping to receive before Christmas and their guaruntee to ship on time. During the checkout process no option was made available to select the faster shipping. I went ahead with the order anyway and followed within minutes a call to customer service. The representative assured me that the cahnge to shipping was made. The following evening my status still showed the order was not shipped. I called customer service again. This time the representative first denyed that they agreed to make the shipping change, then later said that they did agree, but could likely not make the change becuase the order was "at the warehouse". I again requested the change in shipping. She agreed to try to make the change and to call me back with the status - I never received a call. My wife followed up this morning and was told by a CS rep that indeed the order should have already shipped and that they would expidite the order a send it overnight. In a follow-up cal this afternoon we were told again that no changes were made to the order and there was nothing they could do. A request to speak with a manager was directed to voicemail and no return call has yet been made. The order status still shows "processing in warehouse". "

"If you want a good price match policy within certain days after purchase, then don't buy from this store. I placed an order on May 11, and found a price promotion of tis store on May 15. Then I immediately requested an price match and got declined. So if you want your purchase protected in pricing, find a good store like Amazon."

"Ordered using the 1-800 phone number on the web site. After speaking with a representative who is a specialist for the instrument I was shopping for, I was easily able to confirm the specifications and availability of the item (a trumpet) as well as select a few needed accessories. WWBW representative confirmed item was in stock and would ship out same day. Shipping notice was e-mailed to me that day, and tracking number showed item in transit. Very satisfied with the ease of purchase and helpful customer support. I highly recommend ordering via telephone when making time critical purchases."

"Ordered the 27th of August, picked up and shipped the 29th, and arrived on the 1st of September, a total of five days after placing my order, well within reasonable timelines; actually, it's not bad, when you think of what might have happened. Items arrived in a box too big but well packed with air pocket plastic things, enough so my stuff inside (baton and case) wouldn't move around when I shook it. Even though the box was a little beat up from transit, as one of the corners was a little, um, not much of a corner, my items inside were fine. Both came in 'new' condition as well."

"i ordered the pee-wee les paul set for 49.99, and got the confirmation email and everything. then i get the cancellation email on the 4th. i decide to call them. this is about 5:30pm. first i get connected to a csr, who is confused beyond all belief. he pulls up my order and tells me my gig bag was cancelled because it was discontinued. wait, back up. gig bag??? i dont have a guitar to put in the gig bag to begin with. why would i order a 50 dollar bag??? so i try telling him that i didnt order that and hes still all confused. so he tells me he has to connect me to a sales rep so that i can get what i want. the sales rep says he doesnt know what is going on and connects me to someone else. the 2nd sales rep tells me that she cant do anything, that a csr has to do an exchange and she has no idea why my order is showing a gig bag. so she connects me back to my original csr, who is still confused. i ask him why i didnt get the pee-wee and he says its because 200 people tried to order it at once. so he tells me that my order is cancelled so i should just not worry about it, and i inform him that it was already charged to my cc. he tells me that its paypals problem and i should take it up with them. then he keeps talking about a new gig bag and i have to remind him once again that i dont have a guitar to put in the bag, i ordered a guitar. so i ask if theres something comperable i can get for what i paid and first he offers me a leftie guitar. i point that out to him and he offers me a different package which doesnt even compare to what i wanted originally. i tell him that what i wanted was a much better deal, like a 30 dollar difference, so i ask him if i can get some kind of discount on it. he tells me that i have to speak with a supervisor in sales. so he connects me back over, and the sales rep (4th person ive talked to) tells me she will see if she can find a supervisor. so im put on hold for the 5th time, and she comes back and tells me that all of the supervisors are busy with other customers and that she can schedule a time when they can call me back. the soonest they had was 9pm. this is like 6:30 by now. so i tell her id just call back later. i wasnt about to spend my entire night on the phone. HORRIBLE customer service, half of the items they say are in stock really aren't, i would NEVER do business with this company again. right now i'm just trying to get my money back."

"Unbelievably SLOW, SLOW, SLOW! A MONTH for clarinet reeds that are in stock??? Prices are good, "service" is a joke. I have placed another order (much larger) with them to give them another chance. I hope they can do better on it. So far, they've almost eliminated themselves with vapor stock and poor customer service. I'll evaluate them again with my other order."
