"I placed an order for the faux leopard cloak on 9/11/14 with anticipation of it being shipped in 2-4 weeks as indicated on their website www.velvetcloaks.com. Total cost with shipping $112. On 10/9/14: I attempted to call to inquire regarding shipment of item. No answer. Left voice mail. No return of my call. Sent email. No response. 10/14/14: Placed phone call. It was promptly returned by a man named Kyle. I explained the cloak was needed for an event on 10/24/14. Kyle assured me the cloak was being made "as we speak" and "promised" he would place a "rush" on it so I would have it in time for my event. Kyle then asked if I would send him an email indicating our conversation and date needed by. I immediately sent an email. No response to my email from Kyle. 10/28/14: Cloak did not arrive in time for my event. Attempted to call Velvet Cloaks. Again, left voice mail with no return call. Sent email asking that the cloak be shipped immediately or for a refund of my money. No response to my email. My next course of action will include contacting PayPal for an investigation as well as the fraud department of my bank. Don't walk... RUN... if you are thinking about doing business with velvetcloaks.com ! I would not recommend them!!!"
"Cloak ordered 1/17/2013; Contacted 1/29/2013 to discuss status of order response was cloak was being made and would ship soon; Contacted 3/26/2013 to discuss status, no response; Contacted 5/7/2013, was told cloak was sent to the wrong address and would be resent; Contacted 6/13/2013, still no status. Even if I get a cloak out of this, I would never wish this experience on anyone."
"I placed an order online on 1/30/2011... their website says that delivery will take 2-4 weeks, which is ok, but after 5 weeks and not hearing anything (or getting anything) I called to inquire. I left a message and got a call back saying it would ship out that week. I waited a couple more weeks and called again to inquire. I waited 2 days and didn't get a call back, so I called again (3/31/11) saying I wanted an email or text message with a tracking number the next day (Friday) showing that the package had shipped, or I wanted a full refund. I got a reply saying it would go out on Saturday. On Sunday I inquired about the tracking number and got a message that "the post office closed too early" and that he'd send the package on Monday. Monday (4/4) I did indeed get a USPS tracking number showing the package shipped that day and was delivered on 4/6... 8.5 weeks after ordering.
So the process of receiving the cloak totally sucked, but the actual cloak itself is really quite nice. I got a kids sized plush cloak which is very nicely stitched and lined. My niece adores it (it was a very late birthday present). Definitely high quality, and certainly worth the price paid.
The moral? Call before you order and find out what the real shipping time will be.. and keep following up to make sure it goes out when expected. I order online in part because I hate talking on the phone... but that won't work with velvetcloaks.com.
