I need to exchange my son's pants for a larger size and need to ship them back on my dime plus pay an additional $8.95 to have the larger sized shipped to me. "

"Vanguard is the only online presence for purchasing Civil Air Patrol gear. As such they take full advantage of their monopoly and overcharge for the products they sell as well as overcharge for the shipping. We recently ordered two cloth patches (lieutenant) The quality is poor and most of it is made in China. The cost of shipping was $7.00 This company's motive is strictly profit. I don't know who gave them sole rights to sell to the CAP, but they are taking full advantage of it. Some things we were able to find on Ebay, but most of the items had to be purchased from Vanguard. This review is somewhat meaningless since they have no competition, but I felt I should share my experience. "
"I ordered two in-stock items on Monday, shipped 2-Day Priority mail to be sure I'd have them in time for CAP meeting the following Monday. As of Wednesday of the ordering week, the package still had not shipped. I called Vanguard and they first wanted me to pay $35 for overnight shipping for an order totaling $50.00 in value! I then spoke to a supervisor and she agreed to get it shipped Thursday for an expedited handling charge of $6.00. I'd already paid $8.00 for the Priority mail shipping. Package arrives Saturday. One item fits but the second item is huge and not even close to dimensions on their website sizing charts. When I call to get RA to return it, they demand a 15% restocking fee. Then I have to spend $8.65 of my own money to return it. What a total ripoff. They have cornered the market on military items especially for the CAP and financially abuse people serving their country. Really nice people."
"I am very disappointed that they even offer Chinese made woodland BDU uniforms. I ordered Civil Air Patrol woodland BDU's for my son. I received the correct order and in a timely manner. I ordered from Vanguard because I recognized them from purchasing their products at military clothing on base during my days in the military. I made a mistake assuming that of all places, I could be confident that Vanguard would offer American made uniforms. I understand some things can not be found made in USA, however BDU's are commonly found on other sites as US made. I chose to return the product but there is a 15% restocking fee I would have to pay along with eating the cost of shipping to me and back to them. I guess I will learn from this and go out of my way to avoid having to purchase anything from them again. Just be aware that some of the uniform items are made in China."
