"I purchased two pairs of JVC replacement ear buds from Emcompass Parts (AKA Vance Baldwin Electronics)(Image: http://bit.ly/dkKo3K). The total cost of the order was $9.56. On the order form there was a statement that the shipping cost could not be disclosed until after the order is submitted. Thinking that the shipping cost would be reasonable for such small items (fool me once) I went ahead and placed the order.

Eight days later I received the invoice for this order from Vance Baldwin Electronics. To my shock the shipping fee was $25.15!! I cannot fathom such business practices. I have been shopping online for many years and never have I encountered an online merchant that would not fully disclose the shipping costs upfront. I now understand why as I certainly would not have placed the order knowing the crazy shipping charge that it would incur.

Buyers beware.

"I ordered a replacement glass microwave turntable tray from Encompass Parts Distribution after looking around online for reviews to ensure they were reputable. After finding no specific negative information, I ordered the $17.79 part and selected UPS Ground shipping to my home in Colorado. I wasn't given the shipping cost at checkout, which should have piqued my suspicion.

The next day, I received an email from ****@**** and the name "Vance Baldwin Electronics" attached to their address. I hadn't looked up Vance Baldwin Electronics, but I wish I had, because I would have found previous reviews and not made my order in the first place. The invoice attached to the email contained the charges made to my credit card -- $17.79 as expected for the part, but $41.06 for UPS Ground shipping to Colorado! Where did they ship it from, Madagascar? I hope I can get at least $25 reselling the packing peanuts they used.

These are not honest business practices. I only hope that the next time someone looks up Encompass Parts Distribution, the search engine finds this page so that they can associate that name with Vance Baldwin Electronics and be properly scared away from doing business with these ripoff artists.

"I made my order and was leery of the TBD postage, so I called and ask for the S&H charges. The rep told me $8.50. So, I made my order over the net and got an email invoice with $10.84 S&H for two $10 Toshiba A45-S120 hinges. Still not too bad, since the only other new pair found on Ebay were $154.00 !! I got them in a week and they were Toshiba originals exactly like the originals....PERFECT. For those interested, mine was a "C" in the battery tray and TOS P000392260 BRAKE HINGE, RIGHT ASSY 1 1 0 $10.00 Available
TOS P000394150 BRAKE HINGE, LEFT ASSY 1 1 0 $10.00 Available fit perfectly and were exactly like the originals. I say Vance Baldwin Electronics of Florida, ***-***-**** ROCKS !! FIVE STARS!!

"Stay Away. I was looking for a small replacement part for my microwave. The part cost only $1.50. I was checked out before I knew it and they never told me the cost of shipping.

For a part that weighs only a few ounces and is very small they charged $12.46 in shipping and handling and sent it via UPS Ground.

Their practice of lowballing the price, checkout before informing the customer of shipping and charging high handling charges is dishonest.

"I Would "NEVER" do business with this company again.. EVER !!! First I ordered a replacement remote that I never received, then after numerous phone calls of having to wait up to an hour on hold or sometimes just being sent to a voice mail where they "NEVER" return ur calls, was promised that my Credit Card would be credited the FULL amount. LOL. what a joke, was told that I wasn't being credited for shipping. That's bull becuz the package "NEVER" left your building. Credit Card has still "NOT" been credited up to this point and it's been almost a month. The "WORST" customer Service I've ever experienced in my life and it's UNACCEPTABLE !! Instead, if you want a REAL company that actually comes thru on what they say; call Andrew's Electronics. They offer the same things exactly and have a much better reputation. Much Better Customer Service and they actually care. "

"I ordered 2 belts for my Denon D107--tiny little things that barely weigh more than a 42-cent stamp. They sent them out in 2 boxes and charged me $10 each. I spent less than $4 for 2 belts and got charges almost $20 for shipping. I called back and they told me it was my fault for not clicking the "ship complete" button on my order--they even "wondered why [I] didn't." Wow! I was dumbfounded . . . I hung up. It's funny that I never received confirmation e-mail or phone call when I placed my order--I thought that it didn't go through until I called them. My confirmations arrived in 2 boxes that cost me $20. VanceBaldwin, if you're reading this, your customers are looking for value and efficiency these days. Shipping is the most obvious cost-saving item, so don't tell me you can't slap a 42-cent stamp on an envelop to send me 2 tiny rubber bands. Last but not least, throw your customer an e-mail to keep him in the loop before double charging him for shipping! What you did was stupid."

"When I ordered a remote control from this company, I was told that the shipping fee information will be provided when the item is shipped. They shipped my item one week later, and I got an invoice which shows that for the $8.52 remote control, they charge an $8.80 shipping and handling fee. I think it is not an honest bisiness."

"I did reach company on later try. The part is back ordered and they don't charge credit card until part is shipped. They obtained the part I could not find anywhere else. I am very satisfied with their response."
