VP112 affordable? yes reliable? not so much

"ValuePad VP112 looked like a viable and cost-effective option for a 10-inch tablet. But a myriad of problems made this purchase look less wise. At least three times in the first few months, it would not turn on. I don't mean for minutes or even hours. Each time it would not power on for DAYS. Icons keep vanishing, occasionally icons would remain but the app itself was suddenly no longer installed!

The removable drive capability is a good option, but I found data I had put on either my 32GB micro card or any flash drive would disappear for no reason. Books, pics, videos, randomly vanished from this drive.

The design flaw with this tablet is one they chose intentionally: although the VP112 is a 16GB tablet, that memory is split into 1GB of main memory, and the rest is allocated to an "internal SD card." They claimed it was to minimize security risks to the tablet. But sadly, it also soon renders it unusable. Much of that main memory is used by system files. Every app that you add goes into this main memory, and while many of those apps, once installed, can be moved to the SD card portion, only the app itself moves. Any data this app accumulates stays in main memory.

Over the last couple of months, I have not gone a day without the "storage space is running out" message always there. I uninstalled almost every non-system app I could, but the data of the remaining apps continued to grow and today, the space was so low, system apps started to crash. Today was the day this VP112 became nothing more than an expensive paperweight.

"bought a valuepad tablet vp111 back in march. solid product. best price for the specs, bluetooth, hdmi, dual core cpu, etc. my 5 yr son love it. had an issue with the crosshair when touching. customer service was quick. johnny told me to uncheck a setting and it worked. battery life is kind of short, but hey, can't beat it for the price"
