"WARNING - Avoid Trabug at all costs! I rented a wifi hotspot device back in February 2020 and originally would have said I was happy with the service. However it has now been more than 6 months and I haven't received my deposit refund yet despite returning the device as directed. I have emailed and contacted Trabag MANY times with similar responses of "we are working on it". Essentially Trabug has stolen my money and has made no steps to resolve the matter. I can't strongly recommend enough to avoid this company and if I could leave negative star rating I would. Shame on you Trabug."
"I would recommend AVOIDING Trabug at all costs -- while on the surface it offers convenience and peace of mind, it's ridiculously expensive and I found it to be totally unreliable during my trip to Delhi and other parts of India. Most of the time the phone would show "NO SERVICE" and I spent hours emailing and calling the company for support.
Trabug claimed service was poor because I had maxed out my daily usage (which is totally impossible since the phone rarely worked!) I relied on WiFi in my hotel for basic internet usage, and yet they claim I went beyond 2GB in a day, which is unreal - I believe they are fraudulently calculating usage to support poor service and overcharge people.
I ended up getting a local Idea SIM card for a few hundred rupees (it was not as difficult as I expected it would be to purchase from a local vendor in Goa) and it worked perfectly the rest of my trip.
Despite spending hours calling and emailing in an effort to secure at least a partial refund for the completely useless device, Trabug offered zero refund for the lack of service. While they appear to be legit on the surface, they are just another Indian company that's out for money, who will do and say anything to preserve their profit margin, with no regard for customer satisfaction."
"Cool system, cool people. Much more than a phone rental... we used this as a hotspot across Rajhastan and it worked 90% of the time and all of the time we had coverage. Easy set up, lots of good thinking gone into this and the admin is excellent; simple and self explanatory. So much better than most places in India where there is a tendency to over complicate and systemise everything. This is intuitive and cool. Well done Trabug. Come to the States and Europe please!"
"Trabug is a quick solution vs trying to get a local sim card. Trust me, you will waste a minimum of 3 business days going after the latter option. The booking process was initially testy. I'd sent in supporting documents, earlier than requested. After a barrage of systemic messages asking for documents already sent in, they backed off thereon. The delivery, set up, return process was excellent. Occasional call drops while roaming between Kerala, Karnataka. However, as a solution, I give Trabug full marks and would recommend it to all short-term visitors to India. Well done TeamTrabug!"
""Recently I went on a week long trip to India, and I rented a smart phone through Trabug in order to stay in contact with people in India as well as have access to apps. I was greatly impressed with Trabug! Their customer service was excellent, having a representative call me to check up on me. Their start up and closing procedures were simple. The only thing I had trouble with was the interface of the Galaxy phone, since I'm used to iPhones. I also had to figure out how to transfer photos and videos that I took. Having preinstalled apps was wonderful, especially Google maps and WhatsApp. And the price was very good! I would pay more if I bought an unlocked smart phone and a SIM card in India. I was glad that it was delivered to me and that they picked it up. I only wish that there were more drop off points at airports, which I think they are working on. Fantastic!
