I bought a used book from Thriftbooks via Ebay on May 16th (2019). They shipped it on the next day, via Fedex.
The book was shipped at Newark, New Jersey (USA). I live in Trois-Rivières, Québec, which is at - by car - about 90 miles north of Montréal.
Fedex had a tracking number, but no updates ever.
About 9 days ago, I got an update from Fedex (wow...) saying that the book was rendered in Carson - CALIFORNIA !!!!!
What ??????????????
Hey, only the State of New York separates Québec from New Jersey, and the book is at the extreme southwestern part of the United States ?????

Their main competitor, Better World Books is heaven (10/10). I never got a book bought from them and not received it very quickly. (For example, a book bought at the English (London) warehouse takes never more than 5 days to get to me here in Québec.
Since Pay Pal allows 180 days to get a refund, and that Ebay stipulates that the book could arrvie (yes, "could" arrive by June 25th (of THIS year, really???????? ), I might wait until that date to ask for a refund.
I did contact Fedex and sais that they never had updates on where things are, the only update that they do have is - ( like in my case - Newark, New Jersey and then Carson, California. Nothing in between, nothing afterwards neither.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has had a terrible experience with Thriftbooks.

"You never know what you'll get in an order from thriftbooks! It would be foolish of you to assume that you would get what you ordered! I ordered 4 games on disc. Two of the boxes described what I wanted! But inside was some other game, unplayable by me. So I'm out luck. When I called customer service they apologized, refunded the discounted price I payed, but did not attempt to rectify the issue. "There's a good chance you would get the wrong discs again" WTF? "Do not order from this company. I'm beginning to think it is a total scam. Their reviews are terrible, and it was my fault for not checking their reviews first. I've ordered three shipments in the last month. Unfortunately, had I known what this scamming company was all about, I would have never placed an order after the first shipment was received. Do NOT believe this company when they say that books are in "like new" or "excellent" condition. 98% of the books I received are filled with markings (so much that I couldn't even read the book) ... highlighted areas, tons of underlining, dog-eared pages, they smell of mildew and must. The covers are dirty. The customer support is even worse! It takes days to get anyone to return calls. The shipping is the worst part. They tell you your books should arrive in 4-8 business days. I've been waiting three weeks now. HORRIBLE COMPANY. A COMPLETE SCAM. (In order to submit this review, I had to list an invoice number for my purchase to be verified. I entered one of several orders)."
"If you think good condition means stickers on the front covers from various places then these books might be for you. One good condition book seems to have gotten wet and had dog-eared pages."
"I ordered a book TWELVE days ago , shipping said it would take 4-8 days. I contacted them twice and both times they have said nothing but the fact of the shipping being 4-8 days. Then reiterated that it would be 4-8 Business days & that I need to be patient. They keep changing what delivery day it is supposed to be.... So Still waiting. "Utterly disappointed in the 3 books I just ordered. They were described as like new, very good and good. The "like new" book as a library envelope and sticky tape on it, the front cover and back cover are both dented as if someone dropped the book. There is writing on the first page. I've never seen a "like new" book that looked like that! The inside pages also have a large library rubber stamp: Morton Grove Public Library. The very good book, has a ripped jacket, dingy book with giant red felt pen. The "good" book is in great condition. Wouldn't order from these guys again. "
"I had an item that was routinely needed on Sundays, I ordered it from thriftbooks. After it was two weeks late, I emailed support to find out why I didn't have my item.
Do to a stocking issue, they refunded me my payment weeks ago. They did not update my order on their page, they did not email me. I was waiting for something they had decided to never send.
Customer service ignored me when I asked if I could get the 2day shipping free to make up for it. Now I still don't have an item that I need again tonight.
They don't take care of their customers. Trusting them hurt my business, they are completely misleading.
They also spam your email inbox with offers. The unsubscribe button doesn't work. "
"I ordered the two books at separate times. Both books were rated "good" and I would have rated them "excellent". One doesn't seem to ever been used. I was surprised to read the other reviews. Hopefully, my next thriftbooks order won't be as bad as some of the other reviews.
The books were the cheapest, cost and postage, of any I saw online."
"We received a book that was covered in mold under the Mylar jacket protector. They also apparently ship everything in thin Tyvek envelopes with no padding no matter now heavy the book is. And books go UPS to USPS which adds days to the shipping time."

"Two orders that I placed for books that were clearly advertised as having a CD were delivered without the CD.
The online description stated that the books had a CD in good condition.
After complaining they responded with a question as to what I think should be done. What a joke. Anyway, they did refund me the money and I learned the lesson to never order anything from them againl"

"I bought six books from this website, none of which have even shipped out after 3 weeks. I contacted customer service about the problem and they haven’t responded. I’m disputing this issue with my cc company instead. Don’t waste your time and just look at your local thrift store for cheap finds "
"I ordered a gift for a grandchild that I only see 1 day a year which is Christmas eve. I ordered on Dec. 10th as they said 4-8 days to receive, plenty of time you would think...NOT! They gave me a tracking number that for days just said usps awaiting item. I emailed them a couple times requesting and update. They kept insisting they shipped it on Dec. 13th. Today is Dec. 23rd and finally the tracking reveals that thriftbooks didn't even ship until Dec. 19th so the order won't arrive until Dec. 27th!!! This child will no longer be here!! All the other kids will be opening what they wanted and she will not. How do you think she will feel about that? How do you think I feel? They still say the shipped on the 13th but I work for usps so I know if they had shipped as they say the packaged would have been scanned when accepted and it would say Dec. 13th NOT Dec. 19th. So thriftbooks are liars as well as incompetent!! They have screwed this up so bad and they couldn't care less. They should refund me every penny for my trouble. I now will have to pay to ship the order to her after she has returned home to another state!!"
