Scammy business

"I made an order that was due to arrive in 3-10 days. On the 5th day, they called to inform me that they misquoted the shipping rate and that if I didn’t authorize an additional $20, they’d cancel my order. No thanks. It was your error. Ship as you promised and eat the supposed price difference. You’ve lost my business."

Make sure you know what you’re ordering exactly before a purchase, not veg forgiving with errors

"I have a 1979 T2 and attempted to order new seat covers to match my existing headrests. You are only able to see cartoon pics online simulating the colors. I was trying to choose between tan and brown and based on what was provided I tried to choose the best color and selected tan (what also would have been helpful is if they would have showed the trim color, but it was missing). These are custom ordered from the upholstery shop if not in stock and when I finally received them 6 weeks later the color was too light. When inquiring about exchanges as they are brand new and can certainly be sold again. I was told that the color I ordered was correct and there couldn’t be anything done about it. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed and won’t be ordering from them again. Almost $700 worth of something I don’t need. "

Poor Products and Service

"I recently bought a set of Burley Big Brakes through Bus Depot and found them to be poor at best. The purchase was drop-shipped from Burley and when I opened the box found the dust shields were missing and no instructions for the swap. In contacting Burley, he told me instructions were a liability issue so I just needed to figure it out using YouTube videos. He also said emphatically that I was NOT his customer and that if I had a problem I needed to contact Bus Depot who told me to contact Burley. It looks like they will never pony up for those pretty stainless shields.

Part two: when I did the swap ( I’ve had this Vanagon for over 30 years so I know my way around it) I found the hubs had been fabricated such that the grease caps would not fit. Pulling out my trusty micrometer, I found the hubs were about 4 mm short and the grease caps would not seat like they should. Burley would not take my phone calls and Bus Depot was extremely slow in responding. Burley’s hub design is either bad or the fabricator messed up. Either way, I have a set of brakes that cost over $1,200 and they are worthless. What’s worse, these two companies will not stand behind their products either the poor workmanship or the shorting of items
In the kit. Bus Depot told me that since it took me over a week to open the box - I was out of town - I was responsible for the shortage and they won’t replace things when it takes more than a day or two to find the shortage. Burley is a joke and refused to make it right even though he sent the package. Now Bus Depot wants to charge me for the items they shorted!

6 months no parts , no one called or emailed

"So I ordered some vw bus dash heater knobs , didn’t say they had them in stock or not. So I assumed they had them $15 part. So after two weeks I havnt heard anything about my order so I sent and email and they wrote back that they were back ordered , they should be coming in stock two weeks would you like to wait , sure I will wait. Month 1/2 later I email them back. Not in stock yet sorry , that’s it sorry , two weeks later email again no reply no reply so I call wtf are my parts. Hold please then they hang up. Send email cancel my fn order. And your customer service ****. Maybe you shouldn’t have moved to Pennsylvania because you’ve seem to lost your sense of customer service. .. never use this company never recommend this company to anyone. "

Takes forever to get to you and customer service reps are rude!

"I've ordered from them several times and everytime, my order takes about a month to get to me. Also, their website doesn't tell you if some items are in stock or not. So you will get an order with missing items just to find out that they are out of stock. When I called customer service, the lady yelled at me asking me if I still wanted the order. No thanks, lady! I will usually try to avoid purchasing from them if possible. Only sometimes, they are the only ones I can find that have the part I'm looking for. Just today I called about an order I placed on 2-2-22. Come to find out that they hadn't even shipped it yet! It's been 9 days! When I called, they just said that the order will go out today. What happened? If I wouldn't have called, they would have never sent it! If you can, order elsewhere as BUS DEPOT ****! Also, look at their phone number 1-866-BUS-DEPOT. That's too many numbers! Stupid!"

Poor customer serive

"My shipment arrived 3 weeks after ordered(late) and the box was destroyed with no items in it. When I contacted the company they were rude, not sympathetic, refused to refund shipping costs and are making me wait for them to file a claim with the shipper before they will process my refund. Extremely rude customer service, I would suggest giving your business to Van Cafe or Go Westy. These companies are much better to do business with. "

Customer NO-Service

"I ordered parts from thebusdepot.com to finish my old bus project and one of the parts that I ordered (Bamboo Under Dash Parcel Shelf Part #J19598 for $119.95) did not come with any instructions nor hardware. I took the bus to my upholstery guy, who has been in business for 30+ years and he called me and said he could not figure out how to install the shelf. When I got the bus home, I looked it over and realized it was missing parts. On Jan 11th I emailed the Bus Depot and explained the problem to them. I then gave them a follow up call on Jan 14th to see if they had an answer for me. The gal I spoke to put me on hold and when returned on the line, had a bit of an attitude. She informed me that my email had been received and they were attempting to contact their supplier with my question.

Another 2 1/2 weeks have gone by since that phone call, with no response from them so I called again this morning. I spoke to a guy named Caleb who checked into my concerns and when he came back on the line, informed me that there are no hardware kits that come with the shelf kit and that I would have to fab something to make it work. I guess I am glad that I have the capacity to make this happen. I wish I had the time that it is going to take to make this addition to my bus. Be aware, this part is NOT a plug and play part and you will NEED TO FAB brackets to make it work. Furthermore, this place provides about the worst customer service that I have received in a long time. My advice, keep on scrolling to the next parts supplier for your VW project.

Terrible customer service.

"Very rude and careless customer service. If everything goes OK with your order you may be satisfied but if not, it takes a lot of struggle to sort things out. I had to deal with their customer service due to a wrong part and so far it has been 18 days and still don't have the right part. They seem to enjoy jerking you around with excuses. I have a total of 13 orders from them in the past, first time having a snag with a part and its not my fault at all, and this is the treatment i am getting???"

Not as advertised

"This was my first and last purchase from this site.
I ordered 4 cutoff idle valves for solex 32 pdsit carburetors. The picture and ad pointed that its closeout NOS part valued at 107 us $,and the price with shipping was about 20 $ each.
I was so disappointed when they arrived.
Some junk repro without any marks of manufacturer or whatsoever. But they did put them in NOS boxes.
I did not ordered NOS boxes with junk inside.
Beware of this guys.
I was ready to order some more parts, and sent them 2 emails, but obviously they do not even consider answering.
The worst customer service ever in my life.

Absolute crooks and liars

"Bought an engine compartment door seal. Glued together backwards on half of it. Tried to exchange it and they lied about sending a new one. Ordered step pads for the front bumper on a customers 71 bus. They look like the part but won't fit. Made of rubber so cheap they will fall apart in the sun within a month. The retainer tabs are not large enough to do any thing. Won't stay on. Plus they were folded over on themselves and won't retake their shape. Cracks starting on folds. The customer service woman "Debbie" trys to lure you into a fight so she can justify blowing you off. Beware. This company is a scam."

"Dealt with these clowns a couple times; never again. Damn liars. Some of their seals are so bad as to be unusable, horrible packing, things destroyed in shipping... And then the lies.

I thought I'd save a little money. Bad idea. Shop elsewhere and pay whatever it costs. BD will do you wrong. Never hated a parts supplier like this, but these guys need to be put out of business. Good luck!

"I placed an order on an item that was a "special order item." The item was supposed to cost $38 plus shipping. After waiting two weeks, I get a message saying that the item's price had gone up to $259.
I realize that prices change, but seriously, it went up over $200. Personally, I think Bus Depot never ordered the item and made the price outrageous so that I would cancel the order. If this wasn't the situation, I'm sure they would have changed the price of the item on their website to the new price by now.

"WOW!!! I had great service from them. ordered the part had it with in 4 days with economy even though the shipping said 7-10 days. Got a part that i didnt understand how to install so i called them and the guy on the phone was so friendly and helpful.
My only gripe with them is that my order came in two different packages
