"I purchased a BP71 battery for my Sony Vaio FXA series laptop.
Just to be clear, ALL FXA series laptops take the SAME BATTERY.
My computer happens to be a newer model, the FXA63, and the compatibility list on TechBuys.net only shows up to the FXA49. But like I said earlier, all FXA series laptops from Sony take the SAME BATTERY.
All of them.
When the battery arrived, I plugged it into the 2nd bay. Immediately, the fan went on, pulsing every 4 seconds or so. I soon noticed that during this 'pulse' the keyboard went dead.
Have you ever tried to type when your keyboard freezes every 4 seconds? It makes for a lot of typing mistakes, and takes an extraordinary amount of time to pound out anything with accuracy.
I contacted TechBuys.net, relayed my problem, and asked to exchange what I believe is a defective battery.
I received this notice back:

Thank you for contacting us. This is the first incident of its kind reported to us. We believe the reason that your notebook is displaying this erratic behavior may be due to the fact that the model of your VAIO notebook, PCG-FXA63, is not on the compatibility list of VAIO notebooks listed on our website. Even though your notebook can take the BP71 or BP71A battery, it will probably have some compatibility issues if your notebook is not listed on our website. Therefore, we cannot do an exchange for you at this time.

After checking around, I found through another retailer that there is no difference in the battery management systems in the Sony FXA series laptops, regardless of whether it's an FXA49, an FXA53, or an FXA63.
I have a defective battery.
Yet, TechBuys.net refuses to exchange it, feeding a line of BULL about alleged compatibility. I hope the $100 they screwed me out of is worth the publicity about their business practices that I intend to generate.
DO NOT buy from this company, there are plenty of other legitimate resellers out there.
