"Unreliable service. Fees are only clear at the end and they only tell you at the end that you can’t file E-taxes for everything. But the worst part is that their auto-fill for the forms doesn’t work properly. My W2 form was updated with missing fields and I only realized because I was asked to pay a ridiculous amount in taxes. They had my original W2 and didn’t check that, the software let me continue with those fields empty and now I have to file an amendment and of course they will charge extra fees for that. Sounds almost like a scam. "

"I guess it is convenient in the sense that it automatically does the forms you need and ask you questions to fill them up automatically but they mess up the forms. Once the forms are supposedly "ready" to print and mail, there are important spaces that are not filled in. Like the employer EIN in my case and personal information at the bottom that I had already provided to the software.

They also don't let you know that you need to ADD forms such as w-2, I-94, Copy of Visa and I-20, to your tax filing. I found this out because I was supposed to get my medicare and ssn tax returned last year but the IRS didn't do it because my submission was incomplete. I had to research so much to try to figure this out for this year. It also turns out i have to mail the request for return to a different location than my regular tax return filing. None of this was informed to me by the "experts" of Sprintax. They also have mediocre customer service. The people there aren't sure how to answer my questions and of course, keep me waiting for eternity. Maybe they need more training. But then again it seems like no one (even payed accountants) know how to do international tax returns.

Now I'm weary about whether this software even calculates how much I owe correctly. I can't believe that last year I had to pay over $400 to the IRS when I barely made money to pay for school and food. If they mess up the simple things, how can I trust they are doing the rest correctly??"

"Poor service, not straight forward like TurboTax, they somehow cut $ 1000 my tax out of my federal return. I will never use them again. They requested to send signed M1 state document, so inconvenient. I rather fill my self next time."

"Do not use , use a CPA or Value Tax. Sprintax is a scam. If you make less than 72 K use VITA program near you. Its a federal program to help file taxes for free and supports non resident. If you make more money than that, sprintac cheats you and has no service. You will lose money as those idiots don't understand TAX code and will mess up deduction. "I used Sprintax for two tax years and both times, ultimately got the task done, taxes filed so both the IRS and state tax board were satisfied.

However, as other reviewers have noted, the user interface and experience is poor - it all takes a long time, and doesn't explain adequately how to complete many boxes so you're left guessing. Overall the experience was, I hate to say it, taxing - and stressful.

In one case it allowed me to enter things in the wrong way / wrong format (I think it was a dollar amount, and I typed the dollar sign in the box as well as the numbers), with no error message, and that led to the final tax return PDF being significantly incorrect - a wrong amount due - because it had ignored the contents of the offending box. Luckily I checked the PDF carefully and had to figure out for myself the cause of the problem, via lots of experimentation.

I found their customer service difficult to deal with on that occasion and others - their phone support was unsure of things and quite blase about unimportance of entering information correctly that would definitely affect the IRS' calculations! They didn't seem to understand the importance and weight of this process to me as a confused non-American with no prior experience of filing taxes (coming from a country where it isn't necessary for most people).

I tried their instant web chat service once too, and was bounced around for a full hour without getting any response at all from anyone (not even "we've read your question, please wait as we need to check some things"). So getting hold of them was hard. "
