"Beware of buying AppleCare Protection Plans from third party sellers on Buy.com, Amazon.com, etc. And forget eBay, where sellers reportedly sell fake ones there at often much cheaper prices. I had purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan from Softbyweb on Buy.com Marketplace. It appeared to be a legitimate Apple product - but Apple refused to accept it anyway as the seller could not provide an original sales receipt showing that the seller had purchased it from Apple or from an authorized Apple reseller (e.g., Amazon.com, MacConnection). Softbyweb promptedly refunded my money once I shipped it back, and when I requested it, also issued a partial refund for the shipping costs. I will now only buy AppleCare Protection Plans directly from Apple or from an authorized Apple reseller, such as Amazon.com - but not from third party sellers on Amazon Marketplace, even though shipment may be fulfilled by Amazon."

"The cheapest price for Windows Vista Home Basic that I could find. It was shipped quickly and was new and unopened with a product key. I can't find anything to complain about."

"I ordered pcAnywhere on 10/15 and received in on 10/19. Fast shipping.

Unfortunately, the product page said new retail box factory sealed, but instead it was opened and the proof of purchase was removed. No chance of getting the rebate for the product.

I've requested a return RMA and that they cover shipping costs both ways. If they do, I'll change this review to positive as perhaps it was just a mistake. If not, it will stay negative as I'm out $78 with some used software sold as new.

Update 10/20: They returned my email response in less that 24 hours on a Saturday with some questions for me. I appreciate their fast and respectful response. I sent the answers and we'll see what happens.

Update 11/20: After receiving my answers they said they would accept a return for full refund. I sent the package and it arrived 11/2/07 via ups tracking. It has now been 18 days and no credit to my account. I'm out $78. I've sent 3 emails and none have been responded to.

12/3 Left a voice mail with name, number, order#, and tracking info

12/19 Still no response called again and was put on hold for 5 minutes. Asked to call back in 20 to 30 minutes when the correct person came back to the office. When I called back, they didn't know who I meant, but took my ups tracking # and said I should receive my credit in 24-72 hours... we'll see.
1/2/08 sent email saying that I would charge back my visa if i didn't receive a credit within 72 hours. (Then was too busy to do it.)
1/16/08 I GOT MY CREDIT TO MY ACCOUNT! NO CHARGE BACK. SOFTBYWEB DID IT ON THEIR OWN. THANK GOODNESS!
5/28/13 Just noticed that I didn't bump their score like I said I would if I got my $ back. 1 star to 2 stars since it took almost 3 months of constant calls & emails and finally a threat to charge back on my Visa before I got refund.

"ordered a network gaming adapter. received a usps priority mail box that had initially been mis-routed-not vendor's fault-however, I then received an empty box-immediately called to complain and was told that a usps insurance claim would be filed by a Mr Ossif.-never received any further contact from softbyweb-E-mails and phone calls were never returned-VERY DISSATISFIED-"

"I called and talked directly with a Softbyweb sales person to ash him to tell me what kind of mouse (ball,optical or laser) is in the Logitec keyboard combo. It was not described in their web add. The salesman said he could not see the description but he said "I am sure it is optical". After ordering and receiving the board and mouse I realized it was a ball mouse. I immediately called the salesman to tell him I had big problem. He told me a problem solver would call me back in 10 minutes. After 30 minutes I called again to be told there is no problem solver. This salesman gave me an email add. to request a return. After emailing I received a response saying I did not ask about the mouse before ordering.(LIARS) It said the salesman cannot answer technical questions (what kind of mouse are you selling is not technical); it said to contact Logitech because they warranty the product. You talk about the run around and trying to lay off on Logitech their responsibility for their own liability. Beware of this pack of thieves and liars."
